Hi!

 

I would love to have two heads converted to helmets. I will try this weekend but I'm not very experienced with modeling.

 

The models I want to convert into heads I think weren't heads originally in the vanilla but they are somewhere. The heads are the bandit heads (male and female) that comes with a hood but with the mouth covered and showing the eyes. I would love to have two helmets (male and female) acting as hoods but showing the eyes and not the original hood with that "shadow" where the face was supposed to be.

That's already been done in the Q Project and/or the CEP, I think. Mythos clothing too, I seem to remember...

I'm 100% sure that this head is not in the Q project nor the CEP. The one in the CEP doesn't show any face. This is what I was able to come with:

The male one is definitely in project Q.  It's the last head on the male heads list.  Not sure about the female list, I would have to load up a module and check.

Is a head as you said, not a helmet. The head was present, I think, years ago in different haks but never as a helmet.

 

The female one is the same head but different texture/PLT.

Never say never. I recall seeing the male as a helmet in a hak somewhere some years ago. I may even have it on one of these drives.

Well, that's true, I remember that too, also I remember some haks of a hood but with a metallic mask or a helmet inside the hood but I can't find them anymore, damn.

 

At least I did it and I'm happy with the result :) although I would love to find those hoods with helmets/masks inside.

I've made a female hooded head for Q. Still need to do non-human versions. I'll also be converting them over for helmets as well.

BTW, most popular NWN heads have already been converted by Mavrixio into fully PLT'd helmets, as part of the "Heads2" project...

They are helmets, each with a separate baseitems.2da entry for gender/race + a monster section, so they are selected and colored by script.

And yes, they could easily be re-referenced to be standard helmets, as they are currently set up, they enable head options far beyond the 255 limit, and each head is usable for any race/gender, interchangeable, and with extended palettes, they perfectly sync to all body colors as well.

Except Carcerian, that custom base item helmets are not possible without an engine hack which Sinfar probably won't make public as usually...

Incorrect, only standard hotu-1.69 scripting is needed to make them work.

 

(FYI: I actually made the first proto-type pictured above independently for Mav several months before i ever signed up for Sinfar's builder team)

 

In fact, I'm fairly certain they also pre-date the new SinfarX.dll/client loader technology by at least a year or more...

 

(Dll allows mdl scaling and tilting, and supports new body parts like torso2 etc, but heads2 are just helmets, the same as CEPs tiger/wolf helms)

I would like to be wrong. So can you tell me how? I was not able to get a texture on custom helm neither in toolset or game with an exception of tga texture.

Dunno there.... *shrugs*

 

They just use normal PLT's like all standard helmets do...

 

(While normally i try to be diplomatic, if in this case it truly makes you happy to hear so, then yes, I can honestly tell you that you are wrong :P)

Can you post the scripting required then? I think I know what functions are you talking about but I hate reinventing a wheel so...

You just need to use:

I never would have expected my githyanki head to be considered popular.  Always thought it was a bit of a niche thing.  :D  I originally made it for a henchperson in my eternally-in-development-hell module before a theme came up in the CCC that seemed appropriate for it.  :)

I have gone through the sinfar haks in order to get a better understanding of this system, and I must say it is brilliant! I am amazed at the ingenuity, which can also be seen applied to the _xchest models. Unfortunately, as I understand it, for this to work properly the system requires scripting, not something your usual player knows much about, and the head2's can't be seen in the toolset, which seriously hampers the creation of customized NPCs. I think this is marvelous in a PW setting, but not so much when it comes to single-player module design and modification by an end-user.

 

Still, kudos to you, Carcerian! It's amazing!
