Actually there were two people's names in the same image.   One up top, one at the bottom.

One was me, but I don't care about it. I use my real name for my art stuff and facebook anyways. :D

Fans are collecting developer tears now?

Anyway, I was thinking if we ever have cause to do this again, we should really include notes from people who aren't able to make monetary contributions.  I should have suggested this before, but it slipped my mind... It just seems wrong to only give a voice for those of us who are willing/able to donate a little money toward the goodies.

I completely agree and, in hindsight, feel bad for not thinking about that. We'll definitely correct this for a next time. It would work just fine since we sequestered the "letters" thread off from the "organize everything else/pledge money" thread. I imagine it would be as simple as just doing that again, have the benefactors in one thread hashing out the funds and how to spend them, and have the letters thread for EVERYONE wanting to contribute written words.

I think it would be neat to do Cupcakequisition 2: Cupcake Harder some time after the game is released. That way we''ll all have something new to write about in our next round of letters. We can tell them how great all our female Inquisitors are. (And they're going to be great. I can tell.)

Maybe around December? That's six months away, would give people time to finish Inquisition.

If I'd known our letters were going to be passed around to the other teams, I definitely would have talked more about how much I love my Sith Inquisitor and my Shepherd. (Mass Effect isn't perfect, but I'm playing ME3 for the first time at the moment and damn, I love my Shep.)

I am so on board for doing a repeat of this post-game. What would be even more amazing is if we could gather enough funds to send treats to both Edmonton AND Montreal the next time.

I agree that timing should also center around when we can get the best haul put together. December is... tricky, not just because of holiday spending, but also because that is a VERY tiny window to hit BioWare in. See, the studio gives the devs something like 3-4 weeks off paid vacation that starts around early to mid December and lasts until about a week or two after New Year's. It's a bit of a perk to try and compensate for them basically working around the clock during crunch.

So, you really have to send something the first week of December to catch them, otherwise the studio goes dark.

That being said, a late January/early February thing sounds more doable. Gives people time to financially recover some after Christmas and would be 3-4 months after DA:I ships. If we timed everything right, maybe we could have things delivered on Valentine's Day in February, as an added touch of love. ;)

Ooooo, Valentine's Day sounds like a great idea. As does sending something to Montreal as well.

There seem to be plenty of people around here - and even on Tumblr - who think this was a great idea and would maybe be willing to chip in some money now that they know about the idea. (Especially since we have ample proof that the cake is not a lie and there is no crazy internet scam involved.) Not to mention that everyone would have months to put something aside.

This is getting around on tumblr? Any chance you have a link? I googled for it but all that comes up is article after article about the Bioware fans who sent cupcakes about the Mass Effect 3 ending. :(

While it certainly wasn't the intention, it might have been nice if Bioware had gotten a bit of positive press out of this. :?

The Tumblr post is here with 428 notes, all likes and/or people reblogging approvingly as far as I can see. Not bad for a week when many people are staying out of the tags because 4chan are a bunch of jerks.

Part of me was sort of hoping there would be some press.  Maybe not as much as the ME3 cupcakes got, because bad news sells, but something.  Where are the feminist video game bloggers to talk about this?

Yeah, I was surprised. I went to a few sites yesterday and submitted "news tips" about a group of (mostly) female gamers sending BioWare 264 cupcakes in response to Lady Inquisitor at E3. Woulda thought that subject header would catch some eyeballs.

No one's emailed me back yet. I offered everything - story background, why we did it, what we did, direct links to the dev Tweets about it. Figured nice little human interest/female gamer story, right? Especially after the ME3 ending cupcake fiasco.

Crickets so far. :(

I contacted Kotaku, Polygon, and Joystiq. Those were the easiest to either a ) find an email address to a news tip mailbox or an editor email and b ) appeared to occasionally run feature news stories and not just strict game news/reviews.

:( It makes me sad because I think it would have been nice for a lot of reasons.  It would be a positive story about Bioware for once.  It would be a positive story about female gamers.  It would be a positive story about video game fans ("fan entitlement" is thrown around an awful lot).

Let us know if any of them respond!  I'm not sure who else we could try to get ahold of.  Those seem like the main ones that normally talk about this sort of thing.

Yeah, I cant remember where I first heard about Bioware donating cupcakes to someone due to the notes attached. It was easy to see, but a positive cakes never got mentioned. At least the employees saw it. :)

Allan just retweeted a link to my Tumblr post, so the notes just jumped up past 900.  It'll probably hit 1K before the day is out.  I'm glad that other fans approve, at least!

I just ranted about this on Twitter, but what I really want is for people to talk about what happened at E3, and this seemed like a good springboard to do that.  So many articles and blog posts went on and on about the sexism at E3 this year, but nobody wants to talk about one of the few companies that bucked that trend?  Not even a little blurb about how while Assassin's Creed is showing off their FOUR WHITE GUYS, Dragon Age demo'd their game with a She-Hulk?

I remember hearing about the spiteful cupcake incident before I even played Mass Effect myself.  I think it made the rounds on news sites mostly because people found the entire situation funny.

Wow, seems several of the Montreal employees are retweeting your blog, Lady Nuggins. Catching up on the Twitter thread around Page 1702 and beyond and have seen three so far! :D

From the senior editor at Bioware Montreal (her tumblr is Cam Harr, I don't know if that's short for something or her full name):

It was REALLY NICE. I read all of the letters in one go and cried like a big crying thing right at my desk. Thank you, fans. <3

Question was brought up, team maybe disbanded by February, wouldn't October be better month sending that next order?

Yeah I was thinking end of October or even November.

I feel a little nervous waiting til Feb 2015 or even later. The same team might not be there all at once, working on completely different projects, etc. I think it'd be nice to do it again as close to the release date as possible while there's max media attention on Bioware and while Inquisition is really fresh in our minds.

Good point. Especially if there is no MP component, there will be no need for a live team to hang around on DAI like there was for ME3, other than anyone working on DLC or patches for the game.

Maybe close to Halloween? Simply for end of the month and some weeks after the game ships?

Also, we're getting publicity now: http://www.escapistm...male-Inquisitor

Hello, everyone! I was invited for the first sending of cupcakes, but some RL stuff got in the way and I completely forgot about this. :( I'm sorry!

Thank you to everyone for sending the cupcakes and notes, though! I'm so glad they were so positively received and I'd absolutely love to contribute if you are planning on sending more in the future (and I've followed the group/thread so I can't forget about it until after the fact this time). c:
