Give us HUGE dungeons! I'm talking endless ones that make us feel lonely, and out of league. Make them supper hard!

The endlessly long dungeon could be an option.

It would reward us with epic loot, very interesting world lore, and maybe save a village or something.

Give us the biggest dungeons you can muster, and put us fans to the test. Send lots of hard nastiest in there and make our builds, equipment, and potions count. Break our nerves.

Make the level design the best, not repetitive, and boring like Skyrim. Make the content very interesting! With very hard, interesting bosses.

Supper difficulty means you go hungry or that you must have a really bad meal?

This sounds a lot more like Dark Souls. If you want those, then by all means, grab Dark Souls. BioWare has their own niche and direction.

I prefer my dungeons to be breakfast challenging or brunch easy.

Instead of Dungeons, I'd say call the hypothetical "Challenge" area you want, the Uncharted Territories south of the Kocari Wilds. It would make for kind of a cool Procedural Death Labyrinth concept in the Dragon Age universe. (See: Rogue-Lite)

Maybe reserve this kind of Gameplay for the hypothetical Multiplayer mode though. That's where I think it would shine.

Lots of people seemed to dislike the longer dungeons in Origins.

Weird reaction from some.

Anyone recall some of the tough dungeons in Baldur's Gate and BG 2? Optional, tough as nails dungeons/areas were some of the highlights of those games.

I definitely hope there are a few in there, hopefully chock full of secrets, lore and loot!

I believe they've got it covered: "While adventuring through the upper regions of the Emerald Graves, you'll come across some rather large caves. Don't be surprised to find some 'gigantic' enemies using them as their homes."

I play for the story not to be blocked in an impossible undoable labyrinthe. I am ok for puzzle, not to stay blocked during one month or more in the same place because some hardcore want to play in the same place to find an impossible solution. If I  am blocked and don't find a solution more than one hour I will be frustrate and stop the game.

I wouldn't mind one or two super-long, ultra hard dungeons.

So long as they're

1.) Optional. Entirely optional.

2.) Not repetitive and boring. It's gotta have interesting environments and encounters. No Deep Roads, or Underdark, or Watcher's Keep ****. Something cool. Something you can look at and be like "Oooh. Pretty. Oh crap, Darkspawn!"

Dragon Age isn't really about dungeon crawling the same way Diablo or even Elder Scrolls games are, that's probably why. The game(s) weren't built around exploration.

This is what I'm thinking too. Dragon Age: Inquisition seems quite a bit more like Baldur's Gate 2, where exploration is key. In Dragon Age: Origins, the proverbial "Carrot" was always the story, and for those long dungeons, that created an extra-long stick.

If you successfully incentivize exploration though, you can sprinkle "Carrots" all over the place. Ore Veins, Loot, Lore bits, Power for your inquisition. There's much less of that immediate feeling of "Overlong" dungeon, when every couple minutes you are streamed with another reward.

Yeah, optional is key. They usually yielded some of the best items in the game, and have interesting pieces of lore. SKyrim did a good job with these.

Sad to see people hardcore enough to be on the Bioware Dragon Age forums, and yet casual enough to actually not want any sort of difficulty in the game... So weird.

Would love to see some really long dungeons that would be a test in endurance and preparation. If they're placed outside of the main quest then "story only" players can bypass them.

A lot are here for the romance.

The best challenge dungeons have always been in JRPGs.

It's not that weird. A lot of the people here care mainly about the stories and characters. Gameplay is either a nice bonus, or something they have to slog through to get to what they care about.

People have different reasons for liking the games. There's nothing wrong or "sad" about that.

As long as it's optional, I'm all for this. I really enjoy self-contained areas full of challenge and loot, and hopefully some story as well.

I remember when they said that you needed to prepare your travels into the map because you'd get limited health regen and health pots was seen as "padding the game" or "artificial difficulty".

Hopefully, there should be no need for an optional superdungeon, just play it on nightmare and it should be hard enough by itself.

You can have both if the development team is skillful enough.  Durlags Tower from the Tales of the Sword Coast expansion to Baldurs Gate is a good example.  Large Dungeon, very tough but fair, a great back ground story that justifies the way the Tower was built and wanting you to find out more as you go.  My fav 'dungeon' of all time.

At least one long painful dungeon would be nice, IMO.
