Give us HUGE dungeons! I'm talking endless ones that make us feel lonely, and out of league. Make them supper hard!

It's not that weird. A lot of the people here care mainly about the stories and characters. Gameplay is either a nice bonus, or something they have to slog through to get to what they care about.

People have different reasons for liking the games. There's nothing wrong or "sad" about that.

Sad was perhaps not the right word. I'll stick to weird. While everyone praised the characters and story of say BG2, I don't recall anyone in the community actually regarding gameplay as something to "slough through". That would indicate a failure of the game IMHO.

Kudos to Bioware that they've managed to expand the fanbase this much, I just hope they can pull off the delicate balance of making a game that can be challenging... and easy, that can be tactical... and button mashy, that can be about exploration and discovery... and a linear storyline to be experienced.

Here's hoping they do! It seems I definitely want a game at least some of the fan base doesn't, and vice versa.

I like dungeon crawling. Just not ridiculously inflated difficulty. If we're going dungeon crawling the primary aspect of difficulty should be how well you are/aren't prepared.

If I decide to clear out the deep roads I shouldn't be able to do it with 5 health/lyrium potions/injury kits, but I shouldn't be able to stock up on 50 of each either. On the flipside I don't want enemies having 1,000,000,000,000 hit points and armor just to inflate difficulty.

Sad to see people hardcore enough to be on the Bioware Dragon Age forums, and yet casual enough to actually not want any sort of difficulty in the game... So weird.

Hey, nothing wrong with casual players. /not a casual player

Personally, I like the whole package, though the initial draw was actually romance (LGBQ+ representation!), I ended up really, really enjoying the fantasy politics. Plus, y'know, fun gameplay.

I remember in some older RPG, specifically JRPGs there are optional dungeons where you can get the best loot which will be necessary in order to progress further into the dungeon and beat the super hard boss.

They did say that you can continue on playing after beating the main campaign and that certain areas can only be safely navigated if you are on a high enough level

You can have both if the development team is skillful enough.  Durlags Tower from the Tales of the Sword Coast expansion to Baldurs Gate is a good example.  Large Dungeon, very tough but fair, a great back ground story that justifies the way the Tower was built and wanting you to find out more as you go.  My fav 'dungeon' of all time.

Durlag's Tower! I was trying to find the name, but google failed me. What an adventure!

I wouldn't mind one or two super-long, ultra hard dungeons.

So long as they're

1.) Optional. Entirely optional.

2.) Not repetitive and boring. It's gotta have interesting environments and encounters. No Deep Roads, or Underdark, or Watcher's Keep ****. Something cool. Something you can look at and be like "Oooh. Pretty. Oh crap, Darkspawn!"

Exactly!

I want the team to recreate in painstaking detail, the Goblin King's Labyrinth for future dlc.

Fun Fact - Jareth created the Labyrinth to serve as a distraction to a probable visit from Chris Hansen, and allow him enough time to pack up some of his essential belongings and get the heck out of there.

A lot are here for the romance.

The best challenge dungeons have always been in JRPGs.

I've beaten the Via Infinito and Trema, but that's FF - that's not what I look for in BW games.  BW is all about the stories and characters for me.

Give us the biggest dungeons you can muster, and put us fans to the test. Send lots of hard nastiest in there and make our builds, equipment, and potions count. Break our nerves.

If it's optional, maybe. Although then it raises a question of dedicating lot of resources to build a large chunk of content that wouldn't see too much use.

If mandatory, then given how the opinions about the Deep Roads in DA:O were mixed, at best, it doesn't feel like too great idea.

The problem with the deep roads is that it WASN'T a well crafted dungeon, not that it was mandatory.

And I don't know, The Witcher 2 was able to cram an entire optional chapter in the game, I think Bioware can manage a handful of optional dungeons.

Maybe they can provide it as a DLC? By the time this DLC comes out most people already beat the game and are on high enough level and hopefully with decent gear.

I wouldn't mind a couple of hard awesome dungeons, where the reward is the baddest armor/robes, or weapons.
Or maybe the reward is a chance meeting with Hawke or our old warden.

It could work as DLC, but the main game will probably have some dungeons like that as well.

Has anyone ever played Golems of Amgarrak on Nightmare? Simply one of the toughest challenges I've ever had to endure in the series. That goddamn Reaper...

I don't think a dungeon can even be endless. That means it would need endless data to make it and games have finite space.

Not true. If they make is procedurally generate, then it's entirely possible.

Although I wouldn't want procedurally generated dungeons outside maybe a piece of DLC with co-op!

The dungeons in the main game should be hand crafted.

Then it isn't endless any more than a doughnut is endless. In which it is but it isn't. Yay science!

At least one. With really nice loot at the end and with good level design. Just a really big dungeon with only one pathway, but it takes you to so many placs.

I don't want Skyrim-like dungeons that just keep going on and on, but absolutely look boring - the dungeon design, the enemies.

I want some good scenery in a "dungeon".

Then the content woud also be painfully average at best and mind numbingly awful in the worst case.  No thank you I prefer hand crafted content that actually looks like some thought was put into it.

I never said it would be good. Just that it's possible.

I prefer handcrafted content as well.
