What I like to do for a playthrough is to have Shepard not do any fighting at all and let the squadmates do all the work. I'm just wondering if its possible. I believe it wouldn't be to hard on the lower difficulties, but hardcore and insanity may prove too much. The only parts I see that would be really hard is facing the 3 Geth Primes and fighting the brutes and banshees in London.

I'm looking for any suggestions that would best fit a playthrough like this. The one thing I might do is a new game plus so the squadmates can have level X weapons and all their powers maxed.

I will also have Shepard pull up the wheel to have one squadmate attack this enemy and the other squadmate attack the other enemy.

Like I say. Any suggestions would be welcomed.

Just pug, you'll discover innovative new ways to let your teammates kill everything without lifting a finger yourself.

Don't forget to berate your squadmates if you die.

I have seen the word pug many times, but what does it mean?

One word: Typhoon. Seriously. That thing is so OP it is nuts. Garrus just singlehandedly (almost) destroyed the Atlas on the Presidium using the Typhoon and did it in a matter of seconds. I think I need to stop giving my squad mates that gun.

I guess James or Ashley(if alive in playthrough) would be the other squadmate to use with both using the Typhoon. And what difficulty would be best?

Any squadmate using the Typhoon will tear apart bosses in seconds. Javik tore apart the Rachni on Utukku so fast in one segment I could barely get in a shot before it died.

Are you going to use medi-gel if your squadies go down? If so, you could position them to your front while Shepard manages things from further back. You could also try making Shepard a tank (as tanky as you can, anyway) and have him/her be a magnet for enemy fire while your squad does the work. I would go with squadies that have quick cool down powers so they can combo off each other, although the Typhoon still trumps everything else.

Not sure about a difficulty level. Problem I see is the pace of combat would probably go slower meaning trying to keep Mordin and Eve safe on  Surkesh might be more difficult because you would be taking down the Cerberus mooks slower. I don't remember other segments where you are time limited, but those would be the ones that could cause problems because of the slower pace.

I probably will end up using medigel. Good idea about tanking Shepard

You have three options. Play ME as an action game. With automatic dialogue. Second option is to play in the well known rpg mode. Thirth option is the story mode. I never played it . Enemy behaviour is is not agressive. But that is what the description says.

Interesting challenge. Are you going to let shep use passive powers... like say, singularity or pull?

One other idea: Grenades. They don't have any cool down, although they are limited in number. James, Javik, and Ashley. Save the grenades for bosses and time their use for combos. So, for instance, Ashley can Inferno Grenade followed by concussive shot. Javik can dark channel followed by a lift grenade. I'm not sure what frag grenades combo off of.

No powers, no weapon and no omni blade. She will be on the sidelines watching her squadmates do all the work. She will use the wheel to have them attack any enemy.

If you aren't going to actually play the game, why pay the money for it? A book is cheaper:).

That being said, yeah, putting the typhoon on garrus and vega makes it all a breeze even on insanity. But I prefer to actually play the game, so I take liara for biotics and garrus for sniping. I give liara a tempest and garrus a viper.

Simple. I've played the game numerous times and I want to try something different. If you want to know how many times, look at my profile.

Wouldn't the bloodpack punisher be a stronger weapon for Liara?

I think it can be done, although some parts will be harder than others.

As some have already stated, giving assault rifle-wielding squadmates the Typhoon will help. Does not matter what difficulty, since they can tear through a lot of enemies with it pretty quickly.

There are some segments where you will have to shoot/use powers though. Off the top of my head:

 - On Vancouver before leaving Earth. Anderson does not starting fighting along side you right away, so you will have to kill some Cannibals by yourself.

 - "Dr. Eva Corre". Should be self-explanatory.

 - Omega DLC, when fighting through the trap at the Reactor. It has been a while, but I think there is a part where Nyreen stops to help Aria and you are left by yourself for a while. Not sure if it is time-based or enemy-based but you will have to fend off mechs for a while. Also, in the run to the Reactor console, there are Rampart mechs and Cerberus Troopers trying to stop you. You can probably just run by those, though. Omega DLC is optional.

 - Omega DLC, final fight. You will have to shoot Aria out of her restraints. Omega DLC is optional.

 - Husks and "Marauder Shields", assuming you decide to actually finish the game at this point.

 - Citadel DLC, some Armax Arsenal Arena challenges require you to solo. These are completely optional in the Citadel DLC, which is also optional.

 - Cain on the Hades Cannon on London.

Also the following squadmates can reliably detonate their own combos:

 - Liara (Singularity > Warp, also Stasis > Warp)

 - Javik (Pull > Slam, also Dark Channel > Slam)

The following can also detonate their combos, but with less reliability:

 - Ashley (Disruptor Ammo > Concussive Shot, Inferno Grenade > Concussive Shot)

 - James (Incendiary Ammo > Frag Grenades/Carnage, Carnage > Frag Grenades)

EDI and Tali can also detonate their own combos, but only due to extreme luck. Requires Explosive Drone/Decoy exploding at just the right time.

Toughest fights in this type of playthrough would probably be:

 - Brute spam at the end of The Shroud.

 - Three Geth Primes on Rannoch.

 - Clone fight on Citadel DLC. Citadel DLC is optional. Which class would the clone be easiest?

 - Maybe the Brute spam + Harvester on London defending the missile battery

 - Two Banshees on Ardat-Yakshi Monastery maybe? I always have squadmates die here. This mission is optional, though.

Any suggestions on avoiding firing at any enemy or using powers when dealing with Cat 6 by yourself. I know the dlc is optional. Is it possible to run by all the bad guys to activate the cutscene at the car lot?

 - Brute spam at the end of The Shroud.

It is easy to just run by the Brutes. That's what I used to do. (Nowadays I like to stay down in the center and fight them.)

Do they keep respawning until you activate the hammers?

No, though the spawn number is either not fixed, or some of them may respawn. Generally, you get between 8 and 12. Today I fought 8 or 9. (39:30)

Point taken, and I put simple weapons on the squadmates so they don't kill so quickly, leaving me to mop up instead. =0 I wanna play too!  I'm not kidding, the typhoon will leave you sitting around saying "that's it, nothing for me?"  Hell, even that kato cyborg-ninja at the cerberus headquarters went down quickly.

Hmmm, not sure. I know you can skip the beginning fight at the restaurant if you ignore them and revive Brooks.

I am just not sure if you have to kill all the CAT6 goons between you and the car lot or not. I have never tried it. I may or may not have a save available to try (in about 12 hours or so). Not sure if you have to kill them all to open the door, or if you can open the door with any CAT6 still alive.

I suppose if you are forced to shoot/use powers at this segment, you can always head-cannon it that you were forced to since you have no squadmates with you. After all in this playthrough, you are essentially playing as an NPC squadmate.

It's a bit of a cheat, but you could always play an engineer so that if you are stuck having to kill something without a squad you can summon pets to do it by proxy. They're still powers, but at least the drone/turret could be argued not to be under your direct control. There'll still be a few points where you will have to fire a gun though.

Hadn't realised the new boards don't allow you to double-quote. Obviously this was aimed at themikefest.

Press the multiquote button on each post you want to quote if you want more than one quote to appear.

As for the original topic, this is more than possible except for a few encounters where Shepard is by himself, as above.

Totally possible.

Also, I beat the Geth Base (Priority: Rannoch) without just James and Tali doing all the killing. James had the Typhoon, Tali had the Scorpion. I recorded it and should have it posted by tomorrow. Some impressions:

 - There seems to be some delay between when you tell them to attack a target, and when they will actually attack.

 - Continuing to order them to attack a target seems to prevent them from actually attacking.

 - The Xbox D-Pad sucks. I did not want to throw all those grenades.

 - There is a disturbing lack of grenades on Rannoch.

 - Squadmate pathfinding is questionable.

 - Typhoon is good on squadmates as repeated several times on these forums.

Thanks for the link. I will start the playthrough after I finish with the current playthrough I'm doing. That looks too easy.
