So I was just thinking about the explosion happening at the peace gathering and who could be behind it.

Whoever caused this explosion obviously did not want a peaceful solution for the mage-templar conflict, possibly someone who had something to gain from the chaos. Perhaps it feasts on the conflict between them like a demon.

I think the main antagonist for DA:I somehow managed to harness or create or resurrect an Old God's power much like Morrigans ritual. The archedemon  I speak of Zazikel the Old God of Chaos, but the same theory or something similar can apply to any of the others.

When an Archedemon is slain, its soul will pass to the warden who did the killing blow, but what if when the warden died and passed on to the fade, Zazikel was somehow able to be reawakened while inside the fade and had gained power over the time. Or maybe Corin made a deal with a demon in order to have the strength to kill the archedemon and that somehow made Zazikel able to exist in the fade or the soul of the archedemon went into the demon itself.

Furthermore Zazikel could've gained power by the chaos that lurked the lands, particularly the mage-templar conflict, and somehow gained enough power to tear the veil so that he may return.

I find that this theory is consistent with the demons being the big bad while the mage-templar just being a major sub-plot.

Thoughts?

Well, I've already talked elsewhere about my theory that it is an ancient elven dreamer, based on what we saw in TME. I don't know how familiar you are with that novel. It would certainly be more interesting than another human or "other" antagonist.

Dwarves and qunari don't have the magic to pull that off, and demons lack the will and imagination.

I'm not familiar tho when I'm done with my finals tomorrow I'm gonna start going into details in DA's lore including Novels!

And ye an elven antagonist would actually be really really awesome actually.

Not sure the person or person's that are responsible for the tear. I do believe the person/persons are the ones impersonating Grey Wardens to hamper any alliance between the Inquisition and the Grey Wardens  as seen in the this video. Why do I say that? Because the Grey Wardens fighting look pathetic and aren't putting up much of a fight. They fight like Cat6 mercs in the Citadel dlc. A bunch of wannabes. The real Grey Wardens would put up a much better fight. They also want to cause friction between the Inquisition and other groups. This person/persons want to divide and conquer so that he/she/they can rule Thedas. This is my theory and mine alone. There's possibly a 100% chance I'm wrong

Nope actually that was one of my thoughts too I was just never able to comprehend it until you put to words exactly what I wanted to say.
