How to merge Wild Mage + Reeron's Spell fixes?

I'm wondering if there is a quick and easy answer to a question I have. I am playing with Reeron's Spell fixes 6.06 and I've had my eye on the Wild Mage mod for quite some time. The dialog.tlk file is keeping me from playing with them both. I know that there is a Mass PrC merger mod, but I'm not too keen on Kaedrin's content. I find it a bit hypocritical having Kaedrin's + Spell fixes anyways—not to mention that Kaedrin's PrC pack changes some base classes in a ways I don't like either.

I'd like to try my hand at merging Spell fixes with the Wild Mage mod. I downloaded the NWN2TLKedit and took a peek at a dialog.tlk file, and wow. As you can probably tell, I don't have any experience with editing anything. If I'm correct though, merging .tlk files isn't in the realm of impossibility for someone like me.

Can someone give me a brief—if possible—guide to merging these two? Also, some pointers on any problems I might face when merging .tlk files?

Merging tlk files is intimidating when you open it, but in truth is not that bad. I am certain that Reeron, and every one who has altered the dialogue.tlk has reserved ranges, so they shouldn't interfere with each other. I don't know if there is a tool to merge stuff like that automatically, but in my case I did everything manually. That way I also learned how the stuff worked. I just picked one tlk, (probably the one with the most custom stuff written in it, so that I didn't have to copy past a lot), and then open the second one as well. Find where the lines of the second one are, and copy paste them on the first one, on the same number lines.

I don't know if there is a better method, but doing it all manually helped me understand a lot as to how these stuff work, and I need a tlk quite often in my work. If one has a better way of merging, he will tell for sure :).

P.S I guess Reeron has more lines written in his tlk, so you might wanna pick that one as your default, copy paste the ones from wild mage. The tlk editor has as well a search option, which comes in handy.

I downloaded TlkEdit2 which was way better than what I was using to view the .tlk files. It also made copy/pasting the columns very easy. Unfortunately in this scenario it doesn't matter. There are other files included with the Wild Mage mod that break spells in the Reeron's fixes. For instance, Time Stop completely disappears which I find odd because I only added to the dialogue.tlk—I didn't take anything away. I made sure the lines matched up, but apparently it's something else causing this. There are also UI files in the mod that conflict with Tchos' UI which is a automatic deal breaker for me. Messing with all this other stuff is beyond my knowledge and capability for now.

I took a look at the files in the Wild Mage mod, and it seems to be either made just to be used with the official campaigns (up to SoZ), but if you try to play user-made modules with it, you could easily break your game (not talking about my UI mod here).  It overrides so many files that I myself modify in my adventure/quest module, some of which are cosmetic like the inventory icons (for new items that you can find in the module), but also appearance.2da (required for several sections of my module...player may simply be invisible if it's overridden, or may be glitched badly enough to be unable to move), vfx_persistent.2da (required to create certain areas of effect that are needed in my module's quests), and many default scripts.  Not all modules would be affected, of course, but ones with custom content would be at risk.

So, to reiterate my warning, I expect using that mod as an override while playing the official campaigns (as it seems to be designed for) would be fine, but for any module with custom content, you risk breaking it.

Good to know, and not surprised at all. When I first read "Completely reworked spell system" in the description for the Wild Mage I had a feeling that it wouldn't be compatible with many other mods. I was just hoping that my initial doubts were false due to lack of knowledge and understanding of the mod world. I was hoping for a quick copy/paste fix and in learning that it's not an option is, gratifying, in the sense that I can forget the whole thing as quickly as it took to realize this.
