Head for the extraction zone!

Are there any maps for which you think it actually makes sense? For me, there's one, and it's Rio. The extraction end has good cover, long sight lines, and good ammo box access. Ironically, it seems to be the one map on which pugs never seem to want to camp the extraction zone.

Most pugs head for the extraction zone because the Shuttle pilot or mission commander tells them to .
Rio can still get messy unless you have rockets . I prefer to kill as much as possible and leave just enough time to get there - usually with a missile equipped for the run home just in case the EZ is crowded or I run into a wall of enemies.
To answer your question - I can't think of any map where it is safer to head straight for the EZ

Giant and Dagger (if the EZ is next to the tower) both work OK. Like hong says, if the team managed to camp those spots for ten rounds already, then another two minutes on extraction shouldn't be hard.

I don't think it's easier anywhere. Unless you're a kroguard vs Geth, in which case anyone who wants to die is welcome to come over and see me.

Giant.
Actually, rio is a bad map to hold the EZ because you are on a low ground and enemies can shoot your from the walkways - ravagers, scions, rocket troopers and nemeses are extremely notorious for that.

Not to mention that enemies on Rio usually spawn in the corner across from the LZ unless someone is standing there.

Wouldn't know. I just go around for two minutes and kill stuff.

I think the idea is that you hold the end of the map that has the extraction point on it and only fall back to the extraction point in the last ten seconds. Holding that end of the map for the whole game is possible for any difficulty. It is certainly better than sitting in the middle of the map!

Fair point. I'm not a fan of camping those two EZs, but they're probably a couple of the easier ones to hold.

True, but that's the corner I like to hold. Then I sprint over to the EZ at the end. The boxes and pillars at the far other end are pretty defensible, but the long sprint across the map is too iffy for my tastes. These are just my personal opinions and preferences, of course. I just find holding the Rio EZ easier on the whole.

I actually do the opposite on Rio. I go all the way to the other end, then with about 20 seconds I whip out my missile launcher and destroy anything in my way.
Also, I think Jade is the absolute worst map to camp the LZ

Only if the team cooperates. There have been times when i'm suppressing that spot and the 3 run to the middle and get downed. Once i move off that spot to revive, the spawn gets there again and its a sandwich problem.
Giant holding the EZ works because i will always suppress the spawn spot directly in front of the EZ while pugs have a tendency to camp the EZ proper. London works as well with 1 at the ammo box and 3 holding the car area as long as any sync killers (crabs, banshees, etc) are dispatched before overrunning the red car. Vancouver is workable on the high ground EZ and dagger is fine on either EZs. Holding reactor is a bad idea with any shooty faction as it has too many holes for enemies to come through. Glacier is workable as long as the team as at least average level dps and goddess EZ is a very bad idea. Jade is also a death trap holding that bridge for the full period but holding the areas at each end would work similarly to Glacier.
Holding the low ground Ghost EZ is er... not advisable and Condor EZ is too confined to allow for sufficient escape routes when it gets overrun but holding the high ground area just next to it would work as long as someone was on the hill top itself. Holding White EZ is also not advisable unless team dps is sufficient for the synckilllers can be killed before reaching the fighter. Once you run out of the cover from the fighter, you will get shot to pieces. Hydra EZ works as long as you can kill any cover busters before they reach the EZ itself.

Vancouver and Ghost are pretty bad, too.
I know the standard method on Rio is the one you mentioned, but I'm usually out of missiles by wave 11 Rio on account of trying to save pugs from various bad situations. I'd recommend trying the Rio EZ at least once, it's not as bad as you might think if you've got the whole team with you.

My issue with Giant is that extraction can be so much easier if you don't camp the EZ. On Dagger camping the tower works about as well as anything else (though I don't do that if I'm soloing).

What I found is that if you stopped shooting during extraction, enemies tend to ignore you and went for the teammates that made the most noise by kept on shooting.

So much rage quit on extraction when they insta-die in the zone with me across the map, missiling my way back,,,sometimes I get awesome rambo revives...sometimes there be soooo much blood on the floor from all the pugs that have bled out that it gets REAL slippy!

Giant actually sucks bad, it's usually the spawn right next to extraction that is being used. When something dies it's back in your face in ten seconds.
It's not as bad if one person sits at that spawn to block it, but I've never seen pugs think of that.

This so much. I'd think they'd wise up, but no, they really love rushing that extraction zone on Giant.

On wave 11, most pugs seem to like going straight for the EZ to hold the line til extraction. Popular opinion here seems to be that it's usually a bad idea, at least for gold+.

Not the EZ there but that whole back end of the map.
