I think whoever the Last Companion Standing is will vary depending on what choices you made, personally.

Gameplay wise , ofc depends on your inquisitor class. If rogue . mage , u need tank and vice versa.

 

Story wise. We dont know yet how important all companions are , but from trailers and other info its seems Cassandra is the one that finds ya and pretty much sets up Inquisition and puts ya in charge...and "watching" ya. Kinda important person. Rest are fodder :D:D compared to her.

Probably Cassandra.  She seems to be there at the beginning.  Therefore, she's more likely to be tightly integrated into the story and its ending than a companion that you find later.
