Ever think spears will make a comeback?

See the thing is, axes, swords, and maces can all share essentially the same animation.  Same goes for hammers, mauls, greatswords, and battleaxes.  Polearms and spears aren't just swinging weapons and thus require different animations.  The closest thing we have in Dragon Age are mage staves...kinda.  I'm not saying it's impossible for them to add spears eventually, but it would require additional work that may be better put to use elsewhere.

What about the staff animations?

That would be I assume because historically spears, staffs and various pole arms tended to use the same basic combat techniques.

Not exactly.  Like I said in the post you quoted, staffs "kinda" have it, but it's not the same.  Google a video of someone wielding a polearm.  You slash and stab with a spear, but a mage staff is all twirling.

I don't know they didn't include spears in Dragon Age Inquisition. 

Having a medieval fantasy without the most common medieval weapon is very weird.
