Welcome to the Lounge!

Here you can chat about all the awesome World States you're creating with everyone else!

So, please keep in mind:

  • If you're finding bugs, remember to report them through the Beta Feedback tool in the DA Keep - this is the easiest way for us to organize and keep track of what everyone's finding related to plot bugs, tile art inconsistencies and so on.

Most importantly, remember to be respectful of everyone's Dragon Age story. This should be a fun place to reminisce about your favorite Dragon Age moments and how to recreate them in the DA Keep.

I guess I'll start

I'm creating a "Why would you do that?!" world save where I choose every horrible decision on both games.

Kill the mabari, kill the prisoner, kill the dying dude in the Korcari Wilds, kill/never recruit the companions etc.

I tried to do a playthrough like this at one point and didn't work out.

It ended up me crying like blubbering baby when I killed my mabari. I reloaded seconds later and decided not to go that evil route

For my first World State, I tried crafting something that would be pretty similar to one of my playthroughs that I had crafted through the games which consists of pretty much all of the "Good" choices, which for me personally looked like:

  • Maxing out influence with companions
  • Romanced with Morrigan and had the child with her
  • the Warden survived Denerim
  • Chose Bethany instead of Carver
  • Sided with the Mages instead of the Templars

Those were just a few examples, but you get the idea I think. I plan on making different choices in my subsequent World States to see what types of outcomes I can come up with

I'm creating the following:

New World State 3: Warden (default) Alim Surana [will copy these once our actual Hero's port over]

  • Romanced Zevran, who ends the game alive and well with his Warden
  • Recruited Dog
  • Persuaded Rev. Mother to release Sten & Recruited him
  • Did not save Sten's sword
  • Recruited Leliana, she's alive and well
  • Recruited Oghren
  • Alistair became a drunk
  • Recruited Wynne
  • In my playthrough he did do the OGB ritual but in the tapestry, trying to make Loghain the one who did the OGB causes a weird conflict. (IE it tries to force that the Warden did Ultimate Sacrifice, which he didn't)
  • Nathaniel is Alive and well
  • Did not go through Eluvian after Morrigan
  • Recruited Shale and is alive & well
  • Sided with elves, did not help elven lovers, did tell Athras about his wife, didn't help Elora w/Halla, didn't encounter Deygan & brought Varathorn the Ironbark (Nature of the Beast)
  • Sided w/Caridin, Harrowmont on the throne, convinced Dagna to stay home, didn't encounter Mardy, didn't have son w/Mardy (elf mage so why is that an option?), killed Ruck, didn't help Bro. Burkel, helped Zerlinda reconcile, proved Legion's bravery, didn't help find Tome for Shaperate, did the Lyrium dealing, helped Orta and defeated Branka (Paragon of her Kind)
  • Sided with the mages and saved First Enchanter Irving, (Broken Circle)
  • Left Ostagar prisoner alone, cured Mabari. (Prologue)
  • Saved the Urn of Sacred Ashes
  • Helped Redcliffe fight and prepare, freed Bevin but no sword, freed Owen's daughter, did ritual to save Connor and Isolde did not sacrifice herself (Arl of Redcliffe)
  • Killed Ser Landry, handled the Crimson Oars, brought scroll to Sister Justine, didn't help Slim Couldry, helped clear drunks out of the Pearl, told Bann Sighard about Oswyn, gave Bann Alfstanna her brother's ring, didn't help Crow Master Ignacio, gave deranged beggar amulet in Alienage (Denerim)
  • Loghain slay the archdemon, (which isn't what actually happened, but I can't change my choices without the overwriter giving a conflict), (Battle of Denerim)
  • Anora rules alone (Landsmeet)

Victor Hawke, diplo Primal/healing mage whose appearance did not match Varric's tall tale in the Prologue

  • Romanced Merrill, Bethany died out of Lothering, Carver became a Warden, made friends with Varric, Bartrand wasn't killed, Isabela recruited but she did not come back with the Tome of Koslun, Helped Varric with the haunting, and Varric kept the idol, Fenris lived on, didn't help Anders, but didn't kill him either, let him run. Merrill destroyed the Eluvian, Aveline married Donnic and stayed with Hawke, Recruited Sebastian, didn't flirt with Tallis and made her angry in the end.  (Companions)
  • Ran with the smugglers to earn his way into Kirkwall (Prologue)
  • Fought against Templars, saved Saemus and killed Ginnis in the process, didn't give Martin his cargo, killed Danzig and Kelder, didn't help Ghyslain, didn't blackmail Thrask, solved missing miner mystery, killed Idunna, sent Feynriel to the Dalish, helped Ketojan (as much as you can actually help him), Keran reinsteated and Karras killed. (Act I)
  • Killed Gascard DuPuis, didn't look into Hubert's Caravan theft, didn't help Yehven, didn't help Varnell or Petrice, let Javaris Tintop go, fought alongside the Guard, Feynriel freed, Killed the Arishok (Act II)
  • Killed Nuncio to save Zev, let Zev go (and he helped us later), handed conspirators to Orsino, rescued Nathaniel, didn't help Gamlen with the gem of karoshek, returned Emile de Launcet to the Circle, let Keran go (and he leaves the Templars), sided with the Mages (Act III)
  • Legacy DLC: Sided with Larius and found Malcolm's Will

I tried that so many times. It seems that some of the more "evil" choices, especially for a mage I was able to do. Like kill the guy in cage. Deal with demon possessing Connor. Let Jowan kill Isolde. Defiling the ashes. Even letting the Tevintner mage kill the elves for power. But anything to do with the companions I couldn't do. I remember telling Zevran he should go and his response instantly changed my mind. Even to the point when defiling the ashes caused Wynne to leave. I reloaded and did it again so that she didn't leave. So yes, I will be doing a world stare like that since I could never actually do it in game.

I actually did rather decent in recreating my canon DAO and DA2 saves. A couple of times I had to check the wiki and check the "completed quests" log in both games, but outside of a few errors (I don't know if the problem rested in the original game or rests in the Keep), it's now pretty much accurate.

I've got "canon" world states for specific Wardens and the Hawkes that follow, which I'll use in DAI. I did make one state, however, that was for fun. I've shared this with Keep friends, but made a few tweaks included here.

Name: Blood for the Blood God!

It's a tapestry of what happens to Ferelden if the Warden is a sociopath who revels in violence and death, even his own. It's also about Kirkwall's experience with a Champion who loves Templars, Qunari, and Magisters for the fear they cause and the blood they spill.

Origins

Hero

  • Human male, Mage
  • Died ending the Blight

Companions

  • Romanced Morrigan, but didn't have a child with her and didn't go through the Eluvian (obviously)
  • Didn't recruit Dog
  • Recruited Oghren
  • Intimidated the Reverend Mother into releasing Sten
  • Recruited Sten and found his sword
  • Didn't recruit Zevran, choosing to kill him instead
  • Alistair executed
  • Didn't recruit Wynne
  • Nathaniel dead (state chosen because the missing songs quest in 2 is completed)
  • Loghain alive and well
  • Killed Leliana after defiling the Urn of Sacred Ashes
  • Shale recruited but then killed, along with Caridin, after siding with Branka

Prologue

  • Prisoner killed and his key taken
  • Put the Mabari out of its misery

The Urn of Sacred Ashes

  • Defiled

The Arl of Redcliffe

  • Didn't help Redcliffe fight or prepare
  • Connor alive and possessed (perhaps arguably darker than killing him outright?)
  • Scared Bevin back to the Chantry
  • Never rescued Owen's daughter
  • Isolde sacrificed herself

Nature of the Beast

  • Sided with the Dalish
  • Broke up Cammen and Gheyna
  • Halla killed
  • Athras told the truth
  • Brought Varathorn ironbark
  • Killed Deygan

Paragon of Her Kind

  • Sided with Branka
  • Told Dagna the Circle was destroyed
  • Bhelen rules Orzammar
  • Never encountered Mardy
  • Killed Ruck and told his mother the truth
  • Proved Legion of the Dead connected to noble house
  • Sold tome
  • Helped Burkel create Chantry
  • Didn't help Zerlinda
  • Completed Lyrium deal
  • Didn't help Orta join the Assembly
  • Branka committed suicide

Broken Circle

  • Templars supported
  • Irving killed

Denerim

  • Ser Landry killed
  • Didn't handle the Crimson Oars or White Falcons
  • Brought scroll to Sister Justine
  • Completed Slim's Crime Wave
  • Completed Ignacio's assassinations
  • Told Oswyn's dad about the torture
  • Irminric's ring not returned
  • Amulet not returned to the beggar

The Landsmeet

  • Anora rules alone

The Battle of Denerim

  • The Warden gave his own life to end the Blight (best death ever, according to this Warden)

Dragon Age II

Hero

  • Female mage, with aggressive personality dominate
  • Hawke's appearance did not match Varrics' initial description

Companions

  • Romanced Anders and approved of his destruction of the Kirkwall Chantry, agreeing that it was inevitable and had to happen...but also believed that Anders' actions were unjust, so she executed him anyway.
  • Rivals with Varric
  • Bethany died and Carver becomes a Templar
  • Bartrand killed
  • Hawke helped Varric find the source of the haunting and allowed Varric to keep the Red Lyrium shard
  • Isabela recruited and later returned to Hawke with the Tome of Koslun...only for both to be given to the Arishock
  • Fenris returned to Danarius
  • Merrill stayed with Hawke and is alive and well with the Eluvian not destroyed
  • Aveline did not marry Donnic and eventually left Hawke
  • Kissed Talis and did not make her angry
  • Sebastian recruited

Legacy (DLC)

  • Sided with Janeka
  • Found Malcolm's Will

Prologue

  • Joined the mercenaries

Act 1

  • Fought against the Templars
  • Returned Martin's cargo
  • Kelder killed
  • Saemus not returned and Ginnis not killed

  • Discovered looter of Hubert's caravan (actually an Act 3 quest, oops)
  • Merin saved
  • Javaris dead
  • The guards were abandoned to the raiders
  • Feynriel is possessed
  • The Arishock is alive

Act 3

  • Nuncio didn't seek out Hawke because Zevran was executed by the Warden
  • The conspirators were handed over to Meredith and Emile was turned over to the Circle
  • Keran killed
  • Gamlen wasn't helped
  • Hawke sided with the Templars

The biggest thing the Keep has shown me so far is how similar some of my Warden's choices were. I nearly always brokered peace between the Dalish and the werewolves--in fact, I only have one save where I didn't. Oops. :3

Also, never made a game where Alistair ended up staying with the Wardens. He either became a drunk or he's the King. Those are the only options, apparently.

I tried to do a playthrough like this at one point and didn't work out.

Ahah I did one of those! It was so hard to play through, I just kept shaking my head at what an absolute jerk I was being to everyone. I think I ended the game with 1 companion  :( and I just killed my warden because he was too awful to live. What a depressing game, lol.

As for the world states I'm playing around with right now, my biggest problem is deciding which Hawke I want to bring forward. I have 2 Wardens (out of my 22) that I really love, are very different and made very distinct choices. All of my Hawkes kind of blend together, and I noticed I made almost all the same choices each of the 4 times I finished.

What I think I'm going to do next on the Keep - and I'll decide later if I want to actually play the game with these choices - is to make 2 world states. One will be pro-mage through all the games (origin story/Hawke class probably won't matter a ton, but I'd probably pick a mage), and the other pro-templar (thinking more tough/hardened choices, warrior Warden/Hawke). I want to kind of get in totally opposite mindsets for each world and see what they look like.

Edit: I also need to stop romancing Anders. I'm kind of looking forward to the pro-templar world just to force myself not to be seduced by him again.

My first world state is my canon run. Female noble rogue became Queen, goody two shoes minus the crime spree with slim and all of those assassinations for the Crows. Convinced Alistair to knock up Morrigan (>_<) got along with everyone.

For each additional class, I make a different world state and different romance.
Male human Mage romanced Morrigan.
Female human or elf (done both) Mage romanced Zevran.
Male dalish rogue romanced Leliana.
Female human (or elf) Mage romanced Alistair didn't harden him and kept him with the gray wardens
Basically all the same choices with these, just different tweaks. I always keep Alistair alive, kill Loghain in a duel but let Alistair chop off his head, kill the architect, save amaranthine, save Nathaniel Howe and get Oghren to stay in his kids life.

On my "evil" playthroughs, I roll a male human Mage who romances Morrigan and a female human Mage who romanced Zevran but I have yet to create these last 2 world states. It's painful to relive those memories, lol.

As far as DA2 goes, I'm a good girl when Carver is alive and he never ever joins the Templars and i friendmance Fenris or Sebastian (way more PTs of Fenris romance though just for dialogue, Seb is my canon romance) and if Bethany is around, I'm aggressive Hawke who rivalmances anders. In either world, I always help Tallis and always choose Larius.

Anddd that's it. Sorry, I'm not very interesting, I'm afraid. :)

I created a world state of both heroes being human mages, basically making all the good decisions. Romancing Morrigan and having her baby and going through the Eluvian, Bhelen rules Orzammar, Alistair and Anora rule Ferelden, Hawke sided with mages and Carver is a Grey Warden. I like the hero actually acting like a hero. I also like it when the hero is part of an oppressed minority, human mage feels most natural to me.

I'm def having fun with all the world building things you can do with this.  It's also awesome because it means I can bring over my old x-box saves to the PC, yay!  I'll go indepth on my world states later, but I have a mage warden and mage Hawke that I consider canon.  Everything else is fun alternate universes of super shiny funtime. :D

It does help to realize how... the same some of my playthroughs are, though I have a duster rogue who is way out there from any thing else I've ever done.

I played diplomatic for the first like 3 playthroughs and once I went the sarcasm route, I couldn't do anything else. I had to force myself to be aggressive and it was not easy, but I could only do it for one full playthrough, lol. I love thee, sarcasm!

I always find myself playing a Human, Male, Warrior in just about every RPG (video game and pen & paper) with emphasis on diplomacy over combat, if possible. I know that sounds incredibly boring, given the fantasy settting, but I just can't help it. lol

Also, when making decisions, I tend to follow what "feels right" which has lead to some interesting results, but usually means happy endings all around. I do, however, use other races, genders, and attitudes in "non-canon" playthroughs to experience different situations and dialogue.

Same here. I've even tried to role play him as all sarcastic Act 1. Act 2 mostly sarcasm with some friendliness toward family and companions. With sprinkling of aggressive toward the more jackasses. Then Act 3 mostly aggressive. But even as I've tried that I still end up doing more sarcastic.
But this is also why I see the Keep as a blessing and curse. Cause I can just put together all the world's I could never quite play and then play DAI a million times. Especially if there's even close to as many possibilities as there was in Origins.

My first World State was just a copy of the decisions made in the playthroughs of each game.  Losing all my data when I had my multiple Origin accounts combined (loooong story), I wanted to be able to start from where I left off for my first DAI playthrough.  After that I had fun toying around with choices I had not made in the games, killing off random characters and basically being a jerk to people.  "Oh, your son Ruck?  Do you mean the ghoul I found down in the Deep Roads that I slew?  Why yes, I found him.  Want his head?"

So far I have created a mirrored World State of the one I have created already from my game saves.  I am likely going to create more but for now I am waiting to see what other features are added to the Tapestry. Though I will probably fool around with the tapestry just to see how the different choices affect different parts in the tapestry.
