I've decided the theme for my World 2 will be:

Some (wo)men just want to watch the world burn.  There are worse things in the world than blights.  I'm one of them.

I'll post the travesty when I finish!

Question regarding a plot choice.

Can you complete the Lyrium Smuggling Quest in Dust town, and still have the Circle be annulled with Irving dead?

I've never done it that way in game (usually Orzammar done last), and I've never tried the smuggling task if I've already annulled the circle.

Thanks!

If you already annulled the circle, you can't complete this as I think the mage is no longer there.

Yeah, the current options are basically the equivalent of a Maury Povich show.

There is also an option in game to convince her to listen to her dad and leave the baby in the deep roads and go back to her family. I did that one kind of on accident.

The only option is to go back to the Dwarf and tell him the circle is destroyed. He gets mad and says you're trying to screw him and he attacks you. Now that is if the mage for the quest isn't there. According to the wiki if you didn't intimidate the mage during the circle quest he will still be there. I however did and he wasn't there.

Hey guys, quick PSA, if you download Firefox or if you've downloaded Firefox recently, check your system for viruses. I think someone hacked Mozilla's page and teweaked the download button so that it also downloads mysearchtool, which is malware and a pain to get off your system. Downloading it manually by finding your version in the library works just fine, and it gives you a different .exe file than the button. It also has a different installer and opens to the correct homepage. Please be careful!

If you've already downloaded it, I suggest you run a malware detector. MalwareBytes is an excellent one and it's free. :)

I'm about 98% sure Iron Bull will be bi, so a female or male can romance him, and for a person of another species I think he is kinda cute.

Dorian is confirmed gay so no love there, Cole is not romanceable to anyone.

Sera is lesbian and I might romance her lol.

Vivienne will be bi in my opinion and if I'm asked I would say Cassandra will be the straight female LI.

Is Blackwall going to be romanceable? I haven't seen if he is, if he is I think he will be straight and I think he will be like Thane and die at the end trying to save someone,

I HOPE Varric will be a LI but I doubt it as he is too obsessed with Bianca.

I think Solas will either be bi or non-romanceable. Don't know why, but either way I think he's kinda cute. Just my opinions if we're going into Romances.

I will romance the crap out of Solas if he's a LI. He was my favorite from the start, idk why lol.

I only have two for certain world states right now.  My canon main will be in pretty decent state when DAI starts up.  Both my heroines, Fem!Mahariel and Fem!Hawke were fairly good types just trying to get by and help people out and they took most of the bad on themselves (poor Kara romanced Alistair and let him go to be king, Lisbette had Anders and we all know how that goes...)

My second world is just going to be one huge disaster. Fem!Amell couldn't do things right to save her life anyways - she skipped recruiting Leliana because she was afraid to walk into the tavern after hearing there were people looking for her there.  She spared the Anvil and Branka but put Harrowmont on the throne after supporting Bhelen all the way up until the end because she thought Bhelen couldn't be trusted with it...that causes a war with Ferelden after the game ends, FYI.  In 10+ runs of DAO I have NEVER seen that ending before until Jennet pulled it off.  She gets paired with a male Hawke who hates mages because of all the trouble they caused his family growing up.  So yeah, talk about a screwed up world.

I usually decide on some background information and a reigning personality type for my characters and then just let them run.  Depending on how familiar with the game I am, I may know what they're going to do or they may still surprise me.

I had three ideas for the Keep the I submitted.  Tell me what you think:

Right now, the Keep populates a default world state; especially for players who never played a DA game in their life.  Bearing in mind that the good folks at Bioware are looking to add more context to the decisions, I think this would be a nice alternative:

1) Allow for a "Blank" world state.  This will allow users to craft it from scratch.  This would allow the player to go through each individual decision and get a better appreciation for the world state.  Right now, or at least last I remembered, the Keep doesn't identify the choices that you've changed from the default.  So if I forgot to toggle something off of default, I many not realize what I'm walking into as a result.

2) Allow for a "Randomized" world state.  Kinda like hitting the "?" when you're in the character selection in a fighting game.  I dunno, I think it would be fun to throw caution into the wind and just let the Keep generate something for you, go in blind (if you want) and just see how things shake out. Troll yourself!

Now, for those of us who will do multiple playthrus:

3) Part of the allure in playing Bioware games over again is that you're presented with a chance to "do it differently".  I don't know about you, but it's fun to go and do the exact opposite of what you did before in previous games just to see how things turn out in the next game(s).

So, I proposed that the Keep allows you to import an existing worldstate, allowing you to either go in and change things manually OR allow players to hit a "Opposite" button, which would take any binary decisions and flip it to the reverse for you automatically.

:)

Thoughts?

In regards to the first point, I imagine the only way they would be able to do as you've stated is to simply put another option in each question which is blank. In that regards to play Devil's Advocate here, you could easily just as much 'forget to put in an answer' and thus mess it up.

In regards second and third point an obvious flaw in your plan here is that there are several options which have more than 2 answers and further more in regards to the 'Random' one that would require the 'randomiser' to account for variables that can't match up. The only way around that would be a set of 'Pre-determined' Default states ala what we had in Dragon Age 2 with 'The Martyr', 'The Hero of Ferelden' and 'No Compromise'. I suppose a way around that would be to have it so it checks the World States that have been shared to the worldwide web and randomly select one.

1) I was thinking of a feature that would not allow you to progress if you forgot to put in an answer.

2) I wouldn't say flaw.  More like, "not fully expressed". My thought was that the Keep would then force you to go in and select the non-binary choices and then let you know if you're picking something that's going to create a conflict.

3) For Binary choices, if there is a conflict, then the keep should prompt you to select one and inform you of what additional changes would be made.

4) Or, there are different "defaults" to choose from instead of "randomization".  It could "randomize" against some pre-sets?

World State 1: Original Runthrough

The very first playthrough I did that made me absolutely fall in love with the series and kind of gave me a moral quandary at many points and kinda made a profound impact on my life in a way.

-City Elf

-Romance Alistair...but didn't sleep with him.

-Cured the Dalish

-Harromount King

-Smashed the Anvil

-Freed the Circle

-Freed Connor with the blood ritual

-Saved the Ashes

-Found Sten's sword

-Killed the dog...(I don't like dogs. UGh. Actually found a mod that changed it's appearance to be a wolf. That was better.)

-Made Alistair King and broke up with him

-Didn't do the ritual

-Warden died a pure maiden...only only maybe slaughtered thousands of innocents. *shrug*

2nd World State

The Tale of Mage Angelo the most incompentant mage in the Circle of Ferelden. I had plans...but Angelo's personality and inneptitude ruined it.

He was a battle mage and mostly used swords. (I was trying to character role play.) We tried to make Alistair marry Anora then sacrifice Logain to the Archdemon. ...But we goofed. Alistair ended up a drunk instead.

Indulgent World State

Where I do all the girly cute things I wanted to do but maybe only did once.

The "What if" world state

Like many choosing some of the meanest options available. Basically an "everyone dies" situation.

Is it just me or is Zerlinda's thread missing an option?  I recall convincing her to take her baby and go to the surface at least once...

Yes, so do I.  You can convince her they'll be better off on the surface because there are no castes up there.

Alright, the biggest thing to be understood is that I am a massive weenie who can't ever force himself to make the "evil" choices, even in a neutral environment like the Keep, so my worldstates are all virtually identical except for heroes- I currently use the default Wardens since mine don't even seem to be porting over correctly as per the known bug.

The current ported-to-Inquisition worldstate is as follows:

The Queen and the Blood Mage

Dragon Age Origins- Catherine Cousland

Human Noble, Rogue

  • Romanced Alistair
  • Recruited Dog
  • Recruited Oghren
  • Persuaded Revered Mother to give up the key to Sten's cage
  • Recruited Sten
  • Returned Sten's Sword
  • Recruited Zevran
  • Zevran Alive
  • Alistair became King
  • Warden is Alistair's Queen
  • Recruited Wynne
  • Wynne Alive
  • Leliana Alive
  • Shale Recruited
  • Shale Alive
  • Loghain executed by Alistair
  • Morrigan had baby with Alistair
  • Didn't go through the Eluvian
  • Nathaniel Alive
  • Architect Alive
  • Prisoner fed Guard's lunch
  • Dog cured
  • Mages supported in Broken Circle
  • First Enchanter Irving alive
  • Helped Redcliffe Fight
  • Helped Redcliffe Prepare
  • Connor Alive and Not Posessed
  • Freed Bevin and Payed for Sword
  • Found Valena
  • Isolde is alive
  • Urn of Sacred Ashes was Not Defiled
  • Brokered Peace in Nature of the Beast
  • Brought Cammen and Gheyna Together
  • Saved the Halla
  • Told Athras about Danyla
  • Brought Varathorn Ironbark
  • Returned Deygan to Camp
  • Sided with Cairidin in Paragon of Her Kind
  • Bhelen Rules Orzammar
  • Dagna Accepted to the Circle
  • Warden did not encounter Mardy
  • Told Filda that Ruck died
  • Proved connection between the Legion and the Noble Caste

  • Defeated Branka
  • Ser Landry is Alive
  • Handled the Crimson Oars
  • Cleared Customers from the Pearl

  • Told Bann Sighard about Oswyn
  • Gave Alfstanna Irminric's Ring
  • Returned the Worn Amulet
  • Completed the Crime Wave
  • Completed Master Ignacio's Assassination Requests
  • Warden Killed the Archdemon

Dragon Age II- Aldric Hawke

Mage, Blood Mage / Force Mage

  • Hawke has Humorous Personality
  • Does Not Match Varric's Story
  • Romanced Fenris
  • Bethany Died leaving Lothering
  • Carver Joined the Wardens
  • Friends with Varric
  • Bartrand Killed
  • Helped Varric discover the cause of the haunting
  • Varric did not keep the Red Lyrium Idol
  • Recruited Isabela
  • Isabela Returned with Book
  • Fenris Alive and Well
  • Didn't Give Isabela to the Arishok
  • Merrill Stayed with Hawke
  • Merrill Alive

  • Did Not Anger Tallis
  • Sebastian Not Recruited
  • Worked with Smugglers in Prologue
  • Fought Against Templars in Act One
  • Returned Cargo to Martin
  • Kelder Killed
  • Saemus Returned to Viscount
  • Ginnis Dead
  • Killed Danzig
  • Didn't Tell Ghyslain about Nanette's true fate
  • Solved Mystery at Bone Pit
  • Blackmailed Ser Thrask
  • Idunna Killed
  • Sent Feynriel to Dalish

  • Discovered Looter of Hubert's Caravans
  • Didn't Help Yevhen
  • Javaris Alive
  • Attacked the Raiders Without Guards
  • Feynriel went to Tevinter
  • Killed Arishok
  • Sided with Janeka in Legacy
  • Malcom Hawke's Will was Found
  • Let Zevran Go
  • Killed Nuncio to Save Zevran'
  • Handed Conspirators to Orsino
  • Rescued Nathaniel
  • Reuinted Gamlen and Charade
  • Allowed Emile to Go Free
  • Let Keran Go
  • Killed the Dragon at the Bone Pit
  • Sided with the Mages at the Gallows

And that's pretty much how my Worldstates all look, save for swapping out Wardens and Hawkes.

I get that, for the moment, DAO files aren't working to be imported into The Keep... yet, but I think my trouble lies way beyond that.  I know, for fact, that I've played DAO so many times I had to store most of my characters onto a flash drive... because I hated deleting them. >.<  When I go to the old site, though (followed by clicking on my list of games under my name, in case anyone's looking to go to theirs) I find early, early, early characters; and none of the ones I actually wanted to import and/or keep.

DA2, though, I have no problem; I find them all... at least until I remember one of them that I forgot to look see if they were there.

There, though, is my world state based on piecing together what I remember from my preferred DAO play-through and my DA2 one.

To Start this tale...

Hero

  • Coulsand:  Human warrior trained (Britaine in my play-through)
  • Survived the Blight to become the Hero of Ferelden and killed the Archdemon

Companions

  • Romanced Alistair
  • Had her own Mabari
  • Morrigan (didn't see her in the Dragon Age Keep list, btw)
  • Recruited Oghren
  • Recruited Zevran; he's alive and well... (letting him go free, or die, would have been too easy ;) )
  • With Leliana's help, persuaded the Reverend Mother to release Sten into her custody
  • Recruited Sten and found his sword
  • Alistair became king
  • Warden became Alistair's Queen
  • Recruited Wynn; she's alive and well
  • Liliana is alive and well
  • Shale is recurited and is alive, and well.
  • Logain was executed by Alistair
  • Morrigan had Alistair's baby
  • She did not go through the Eluvian after Morrigan
  • Nathanial is alive and well
  • The Architect lives

Prologue

So I've got (currently) about five different world states saved up.

I've got my own personal canon from my "official" playthroughs, an alternate version of my canon with a gender swapped Warden and Hawke who made some different choices here and there, and then a total crapsack world where I made all the worst choices possible to get as many people killed as possible just because, a world where the Warden and Hawke were both hardcore pro-chantry and anti-magic and anti-qunari (think of it as if Mother Petrice was the PC), and one that is your standard human male warriors 100% lightside "good" choices like you would expect to be canon in a Star Wars game since lightside is always canon in Star Wars games.

Any other good ideas?

Oh my. I started out very "boring" hehe, mainly to get used to the Keep. Some of the choices I didn't even make in any of my actual playthroughs, but I find that is the beauty of this thing. Now I don't have to worry about sitting down and playing through everything over and over to get those plots down.

Anyway, I chose the female Cousland path. Romanced King Alistair and married him and saved the world etc. I am too scatterbrained to bullet list everything because I know I will be going back and making many many many more world states just to try everything out.

I really enjoy having this kind of control over the plot points. It's efficient and saves time. There are bugs - at one point I chose for Alistair to have impregnated Morrigan. The Keep then wanted to change my gender to male. When I went back and reselected this choice, however, everything was fine and my warden stayed female. :)

It really sucked that I had to kill...

As a punk rocker at heart, I too can't think of anything but the Misfits when I fight Danzig. I'd like to think, deep down, there's a Misfits fan of a dev who put him in the game.
