Sometimes I have to wonder if the comics are intentionally trying to contradict as much of what's presented in the games as possible.

I don't know, Karpy kinda messed up everything about KotOR 2 in his novel. 

Then again, in this case, messing up sequels isn't necessarily a bad thing.
