Who wants to see Liara in Mass Effect 4? What do you think her character will like without Shepard? Do you think she will use the resources she has at her disposal as the Shadow Broker to find out about Shepard's whereabouts? What would Liara be like as an Asari Matriarch? Would you want to see her as an protaganist or an antagonist in the next Mass Effect games?

No.

Not because I don't like the charcter (because I do) But I want the next game to be completely and totally divorced from the trilogy.  I don't want any returning characters at all.  I don't even want them mentioned.

Are you sure he fought in the Rebellions? And I'm going to have to check that number because the Rebellions were after the Rachni and the number being thrown around for them is 1300.

I'll need something definitive before I jump to Krogans being immortal.

Still not enough.

Its way more than enough more than most characters have in the entire series, she already has lots of favoritism from the writers she doesn't need any more.

Well it would be a bit odd for the PC not to visit her mother, wouldn't it.

The next Mass Effect game is being developed by a new studio with new writers.

Don't you think they might want to bring in their own characters?

Depending on the setting, there might be a few nods to the Shadow Broker.

Bringing in new characters doesn't preclude including the old ones. In fact, I dare say, it's quite the opposite. Who better than the old salt to show the newbies the ropes? And, incidentally, few characters asides from Liara and Grunt fit that criteria.

I'd just absolutely love to see these boards if Liara comes back. Especially as either a major character or powerful figure.

I'm not particularly attached to her, but damn, it would be fun to watch.

Whether or not Liara should be in the game depends on the game's plot, setting, and timeline. We know next to nothing about any of those things, so its hard for me to say whether or not she should play a role in the game. I'm in favor of her returning if it makes sense for her to return and against it if it doesn't.

If it is set during her lifetime and in Council space and the plot is such that the game's events should involve the Shadow Broker network in some way, then Liara should either return or it should be explained that either she stepped down and passed the reigns to Feron (or whomever), or disbanded the network all together.

I have no strong feeling one way or the other.

But apparently you only know people who don't change one bit after dramatic experiences... or.. any experience at all.

Or maybe I'm old enough to have graduated from high school. Unlike you.

Your view is understandable for a child whose psyche is still developing.

Liara is one of my favourite characters, I don't get the hate for her :(

She's obviously going to be alive in ME4, but she might not make an appearance. I hope she does. I hope we get to see a grown-up Grunt too!

Its not that people hate, its that she is forced into certain points of the story just for the sake of having her in it e.g. her cameo in paragon lost.

I hope she appears just so I can kill her in some way.

In all seriousness, no. If other trilogy characters have to go, then she does as well.

Eh, I dunno how old you think I am but I'm well beyond university. But, congratulations on getting your high school diploma. Your family must've been so proud!

Also great job at selective quoting.

I'd love to see Liara! I'd rather see many many new characters, though, but a cameo would be nice!

Liara, a powerful matriarch. Once wife and bondmate of the famous Commander Shepard and mother of their four daughters. Sounds good.

I sure don't. Don't get me wrong I have nothing against Liara but I knew her for three games, it's time to meet new people.

Nope, not everyone has Liara as a LI.

I'm not sure she survived in my game. The only clear survivors in my game were EDI and Joker. But whatever the case may be, I'm in the "PLEASE GOD NO!" camp here, mainly because I don't want to see anyone from the Shepard trilogy in ME4. However, it would be perfectly acceptable if there is a mention of the Shadow Broker, provided it's left ambiguous whether it's still Liara or someone who took over the position from her (Feron? Their kids? I guess it could grow into a family business, with matriarch Liara as the boss, insisting to be referred to as Matriarch Don Liarone... underlings kissing her tacky rings while she absentmindedly strokes a domesticated pyjak. Crap, now I *do* want see that. Okay, I guess, yes to Liara in ME4, but only if she's Don Liarone).

No. God no.

God in heaven, no.

I liked Liara, but for Christ's sake, I don't want ME4 to involve the rest of the trilogy.

I think it's pretty obvious at this point it's a sequel, so it's going to be impossible to not involve the orignal trilogy in some way. I think the old characters will make cameo appearances or at least be mentioned in easter eggs in some way depending on when it's set. If it's like 100 years after ME3, we'll probably only hear about characters like Liara, Samara and Grunt (and Javik if he didn't kill himself).

Make her the main villain.  The level of epic nerd rage on the forums would EASILY be worth the cost of admission.

An Asari as a villain wouldn't work. Unless NME is an adult club simulator or something in those lines.
