If Shepard's not in ME4, I don't want to see any of the old crew in ME4.
All new NPC's is good w/o Shepard.
Bring Shepard back in ME5 - ME?, then yes. I'd love to see her family of friends back too.

I`m sure Bioware will use some old characters as links between old trilogy and new one. Liara is a good candidate for this, due to asari's long life span.

If they did go that route, Liara & Grunt would make the most sense. EDI as well if she didn't get zapped in Destroy.
Yes I would love to see Liara
Absolutely not. I do not want her anywhere near the next installment.
Having said that, Bioware will most likely have her in there.
Maybe her and Sheppard made their own StarChild. So Liara is an elderly Justicar, keeping an eye on her Ardnot Yashi, who happens to be a crew member. What??!?!?!?
Yes bring her back.
Hmm, if they bring her back as the Shadow Broker sure, But I'd prefer to let go from old squadmates ;p
Oh, it's confirmed to be a sequel? Well, ****. In that case... yes, I'd quite like her to be there.

Bioware has said there will be "nods" to the trilogy. Putting Liara IN the new game is more than just a nod, so that's not very likely to happen.
I wouldn't want it to happen. Put the tirlogy behind glass, put it on a shelf and leave it be.
If shadowbroker is back into the game, it's as good a nod as any. Liara has a long lifespan. It doesn't have to be anything more than a small cutscene where she doesn't even introduce herself so the new players won't know who she is.
But yea i agree, in any other capacity i will be disappointed.
Maybe the game won't show Liara in person, or her voice, or her name, but I'm betting Liara will have some role, big or small, in ME4, strictly as the Shadow Broker. The trilogy showed that if you're someone remotely important in the galaxy, the Broker not only has tabs on you, but as well as intel you probably want.

In a sequel that might actually be a fun way to give her a cameo, assuming of course that the cameo makes sense in the setting. Have the protagonist do a vid chat with the Shadow Broker, whose image would be intentionally distorted into a black shadow and the voice disguised. (similar to how Liara used the computer system to disguise her voice while seizing control of the network)
The protagonist would be completely oblivious to the identity of the Shadow Broker but some turn of phrase would be a wink and a nudge to the fans who've played through the Shepard trilogy. Not 'By the Goddess' however, as that would identity the SB as an Asari.
Then people who romanced her would expect her to have daughters, and would demand that her daughters play a larger role in the main storyline. So, instead of having the story revolve around Liara and the player's character mostly, you get an asari companion that happens to be the daughter of Shepard..that would be kind of cool actually.
But no, the story of Shepard is over, time to let the past stay in the past.
It'd be best not to have her in, because people would complain about how she got to be in the game, yet their favourite character didn't, as people did with ME2 when she appeared in LotSB, but the Virmire Survivor appeared in a couple of cutscenes. And of course, everyone would complain that Shepard wasn't there
To whomever was discussing it above, it has not been confirmed as a sequel. There are zero confirmations on the chronology of the next game. They have said that it will have nothing to do with the Shepard saga.
That probably (and hopefully) means all the characters and squadmates associated with him won't be returning.
Time for an entirely clean slate.
I don't wanna see anyone back, I don't want any needless fanservice returns, no callback's, nothing. Everyone should just be erased from history.
this thread and especially the OP just screams of troll bate
theres a 50% chance she will be in the next game.
She should exist in the Mass Effect Universe. And that is enough in my opinion. No need for the next protagonist to meet her.
I am hoping the next ME begins in a time far past the last days of Shepard's crew, the only way i would like to see Liara is as a old Asari passing the torch on to the new Main character and then passing on
I fervently hope for no returning characters myself. I'm thoroughly done with the Shepard saga.
(Honestly I never really understood the uproar about many ME squad mates not returning in ME2 prior to its release. I mean, I do get it, but for me, meeting and exploring new characters is more interesting)
