All of the numbskulls are gone, so now they pick on me for S&G.

who cares if you do have "worthless" teammates, they only seem "worthless" because you did nothing to prevent them from bleeding out.

Every teammate has a part to play, whether it be on the distraction team or being an efficient killer. There is no "worthless" teammate as long as they play a part, help with objectives and try to revive my scrub butt for going down on them.

 

This is just plain wrong. Yes, there are worthless teammates.

 

Also, who the hell cares if I play a kit sub optimally, it's my choice to do whatever the hell I want with my kits.

 

We care only because you often "champion" your sub-optimal builds as the most logical way to play, when clearly that isn't the case.

 

and yes, you're right. I didn't invent the bow build. It was established when the kit came out. I did however develop a "style" of bow build.

 

Hate to break it to you, but even that wasn't new.

Yes, they are "logical" for you, and the way you prefer to play them, but the arguments about them being more optimal than conventional builds is folly.

Not once did I say that a Bow Build is more optimal than a Cain Mine build.

I only said that *I*, personally don't "need" them to make him optimal. He's optimal just being a bow build, is it more optimal than a Cain Mine build? No, it isn't.

but both builds are still optimal in their own right. There's no point in comparing the Omni Bow with Cain Mines.

Do you know the definition of "optimal"? You can't claim one build to be less optimal than another, and in the same breath use the word optimal to describe said build. Being able to do well with a gimped build doesn't make it the best.

 

I'm fairly sure I've seen you push it as the "best" build btw.

No one is picking on you, im calling out the nonsense you write, you claimed the bow build as your own and something you invented when it was clearly inteded to be one way to play the kit. To me that reeks of arrogance, but then again im talking to someone who rams her videos down our throats at every opportunity (even when it has nothing to do with a discussion) and boast about not playing certain kits because their easy mode....LOL

Anyone who thinks a cain mine spammer is 'optimal' needs to have their brain updated. Optimal has nothing to do with damage output and everything to do with fun. If you want to just nuke everything instantly, missile glitch, it's not that hard.

 

Plus, good luck doing any damage if you're playing with a TGI, AIU, or any grenade user ever. Or if you're on a map with few grenades. Or if you're on a map without easily clusternukeable spawns. Congratulations, you've found a setup that is great for one specific purpose and you can exploit that to win really easy matches. I applaud you. Really. It's not like you can do the exact same thing with, I don't know, every other class in the game.

Guys seriously, what the hell? Chill. It's a damn game. If Argent wants to use a bow focused playstyle what's the problem? When i use the talon merc i usually do a hybrid bow/cain mine build, but i'm not gonna knock someone for playing differently. She prefers the bow, you prefer using mines. It's all good. Just let the girl play how she wants. Also i don't think she ever stated she "created" the bow build, when she said she devloped her build she mean't she developed it FOR HER that works the way she wants it too, given her playstyle. I mean i just skimmed what she said and i gathered that's what she meant. I saw no arrogance there whatsoever.

 

Also if she wants to put up videos of her playing then WHO THE HELL CARES? We all love Mass Effect 3, that's why we're here. I've watched some of the videos she's posted and i enjoyed them. If you don't like the fact that she does just scroll the page down and dont watch the thing. It's THAT simple. It's not like she's the only one that puts here videos on here. What's the big deal?

If you bothered to actually read the thread, you'd realise that no one has knocked her for choosing to play the way she does. Try not to skim next time.

No one's actually knocking her, she's a hipster and we know that, we also don't care. And you really shouldn't speak for others, I'm sure Argent is fine saying what she means.

You know.. the no Cain Mines build may in fact be the most sub optimal way to play the kit there is. Even if you only have 3 ranks in Cain Mines, you still have the ability to nuke an area similar to a Cobra missile.. and all the utility that comes from a Cobra missile, which is significant. You also have a way to cover your squishy flank and give yourself an alarm that there are enemies flanking. Just those qualities alone are worth more than anything you get at rank 6 of his other powers except possibly 6a in the passives.

So.. if we're speaking in an 'optimal/min/max' type conversation.. the no Cain Mines build is actually the weakest Talon Merc build there is.

And yes i agree with this. I do tend to use the bow more often, but the cain mines are just too powerful to pass up completely.

Well, I am nowhere near your level of play, but I am going to try that build. Spamming caine mines is effective but boring - the Robin Hood build looks like fun.

going full robin hood build is fine i geuss, but just please do everyone a favor including ur teamates and ATLEAST put 3 points in fitness, u can drop the last 6 rank points from passive to add into cain mines lvl 3.. atleast u have an emergency nuke/traps available when stuff gets hairy. having 0 points in cain mines is just being incompetant.

I agree with what Zae said.

Cain Mines don't have to be spammed, they can be set as booby traps (the way they're meant to be used), you can drop the 6th rank in concussive arrows (since it's capacity and you get that capacity from Cain Mines). or you can just put 3 points in concussive arrows because you only need 3 points to send phantoms flying.

skipping passives is ok too I guess. You miss out on the weapon damage that would be replaced by a Strength Enhancer though.


If you still want to try the Robin Hood build though, then that's awesome!
