Inquisitor Nationality?

Forgive me if this topic has already been discussed: I did a search for it, and nothing came up.

Do we know what nationality the Inquisitor is going to be? Are they Ferelden, like Hawke and the Warden? Do they come from Orlais, just without the accent? Is Kirkwall their hometown?

I know our Qunari Inquisitor is Tal-Vashoth, and an Elvish Inquisitor is Dalish, but I guess I was just wondering where they're from? I know we get to choose between a British and an American accent, so that's partially why I'm asking.  Has it been stated anywhere? Are we just assuming Ferelden because everyone important was born in Ferelden, or do we have any information?

Also, what would you prefer? Ferelden or elsewhere?

Actually, the Qunari Inquisitor is just Vashoth, not Tal-Vashoth.

As for nationality, no idea.

It's probably going to be part of the character creation to determine where your Inquisitor comes from.

Since the action takes place in Ferelden and Orlais, it would make sense if you had the choice of being from either.   However, most of the people from Orlais thus far have always had that cod French accent to a greater or lesser degree, which suggests that we are going to be from Ferelden or somewhere else that doesn't have that accent.    Cassandra has a bit of an accent and she comes from Nevarra.   Zevran and other Antivans always had an accent.    Funnily enough I don't think any of those from Tevinter have had accents and neither did Isabella, a Rivanni, although she may have lost it during her years at sea.     Anders didn't have an accent but he did leave the Anderfels at a very young age.    Still I'm thinking that Ferelden is still the strongest candidate, with possibly the Freemarches as an alternative.

There were a couple of Antivans who didn't have an Antivan accent: Oriana Cousland and Talisen both sounded Ferelden. Mistress Woolsey was also from the Andersfels apparently and she had the same kind accent of as Anders (the character), so perhaps Anders (the people) have English accents too.

Qunari are Vashoth (born outside the Qun/never properly introduced to it).

Elves are Dalish.

Dwarves are Surface Dwarves.

Humans are not confirmed, but seeing as every human Protagonist possible so far hailed from Ferelden, I highly doubt, that they are going to break this Formula. Since it is also something of the "Britain Analogue" in Thedas (Orlais being French, Marches being all the little Germanies, Nevarra being Austria, Anderfels Prussia, Tevinter Byzantine, Antiva an Example for intalian City State and Ravain basically moorish Spain, the Qunari Moors etc, bla bla) it is easier to Voice Act.

Ferelden or the Free Marches have been the big guesses for the human inquisitor, at least.

I like the sound of that but anybody choosing Orlesian or Nevarran will propably be culturally Ferelden.

Race will be the more important factor than country of origin.
We know elves are Dalish, Qunari are Vasoth, Dwarfs surname is Cadash possible exiled noble and human might be Ferelden due to the surname Trevelyan sounds Cornish/British and ergo Ferelden.
Parshaara this is maddening.

Probably have a choice of Free Marches, Fereldan, and Orlais.

I'm hoping for wandering mercenary who is originally from some out of the way town in the Free Marches or Orlais for non mage human.

I don't want another Fereldan hero.

Has any human in the games spoken with an American accent? I can't think of one off the top of my head. I'm really excited that there are 2 voices per gender but if the elf is Dalish and not city born wouldn't the American accent only fit the dwarf PC? It would have been so amazing, if there had been an Irish/Welsh accent (although Merrill was the only one with a Welsh accent) for the Dalish  PC. Oh if wishes were horses...

Yes, what I was thinking too. Although I think the Orlesian might be a nobble.

Like DA:O, maybe the background of our inquisitor would make life easier with certain aspects of the game.

If we choose an inquisitor with an Orlesian heritage then resolving the throne dispute might be easier compared to choosing an inquisitor with Fereldan heritage who may not be respected in Orlais, especially by Gaspard ...  for example.

Don't we have a choice of 2 different VO per gender for our inquisitor?

I hope we're orlesian this time.

I really hope for a different viewpoint and a step away from Ferelden = good, Orlais and all other nations=evil empires mentality that some players have adopted because the PC is from Ferelden all the time.

Probably Fereldan.

The human Inquisitor has a Cornish surname, and the two choices of accent for the Inquisitor are British or American.

I've said it before I'll say it again...anything but Orlesian. I'd play a sapient Dust Town nug before an Orlesian.

Not to point out the obvious, but....

You can step away from the overload on Ferelden by making your Warden not a Cousland. Make a Brosca or Mahariel or Tabris. They're just as cool. That way you don't have think of Dragon Age as having a lot of Fereldens.

Can't do much about Hawke though.

The unfounded optimism by those poor souls thinking we'd get to choose our nationality bemuses me.

Race selection determines our background story, with class selection maybe modifying some flavor lines in it; they told us so many moons ago. How a special snowflake birthplace selection for the human Inquisitor would fit into that system is beyond me. And everything (accents, surname) points straight at yet another Fereldan hero.
