Probably Fereldan.
The human Inquisitor has a Cornish surname, and the two choices of accent for the Inquisitor are British or American.
That being said, most Marchers we met had British accents, as well. Though the Cornish surname is still more inline with Ferelden.

If we are to be Fereldan, then I have to agree w/ a previous poster, I'd rather they not be seen as the good nation. More neutral would be great.
Let Orlais and Tevinter have some redeeming qualities present in the game (although...tevinter has its own reputation that's..less than pretty..thank goodness for Dorian!) ![]()

Given the available accents and the name, I'd say (s)he's from Ferelden.

Fereldens are the only ones that matter. Those filthy Orlesians and Imperium citizens just can't measure up.

I'd like an Antivan or Nevarran or Rivainni protagonist, myself.

Am I the only one that wants an Orlesian human PC?
About time we see and experience things from the Orlesian perspective.
Since we know the elven PC is Dalish, no chance of city elf. Seems the only other option is to let the human be from Orlais.

As far as the voices go, I seem to recall that the two main ones per gender would apply to all races but they would tweak them electronically to make them sound different if you play a race other than human. Thinking about it, it would make better sense to make the Inquisitor from the Freemarches because it is a conglomeration of independent city states and so no overall national pride to consider. So that would make you seem more neutral.
That said, you are being forced to play Dalish if you are an elf, which would give a double reason for some people not to want to work with you. You are a Vashoth if you are qunari, which means both true Qunari and everyone else is going to be suspicious of you. The dwarf is Cadash and they were the thaig that sheltered the Arlathan elves fleeing from Tevinter, which made the other dwarves attack them for betraying their trading partner Tevinter. So being a surface dwarf and a considered traitor to the dwarven nation may have implications with trust in certain circles. So really it only seems fair that a human origin has some sort of downside to it. Being a Ferelden and trying to negotiate with Orlesian nobility would just about fit the bill.

I could imagine the human mage being of different nacionality than the warrior/rogue. If they are a circle mage their backstory is probably different anyway so it might happen.

Makes sense to me, deep down I wanted my human PC to have a unique accent, I like the Orlesian accent a lot.

Do we know what nationality the Inquisitor is going to be? Are they Ferelden, like Hawke and the Warden?
Off the Wardens, only two of them would qualify to be Ferelden in any meaningful sense. Human Noble and City Elf.
Otherwise, nationality wouldn't mean much (or mean something entirely different) for the rest of them. The Dwarves are of Orzammar, which is an entirely separate kingdom from Ferelden. The two mages are of the Circle, which is transnational, apolitical, and doesn't identify with or answer to the Ferelden monarchy in any meaningful way. And, of course, the Dalish, which is as outside as the Dalish can make it.

Judging by our choice in accents as well as the name Trevelyan it looks like we'll be from Ferelden...again.
Personally I was hoping the Inquisitor would be from anywhere other than Ferelden.

The summit is being held in the Temple of Sacred Ashes. The player character could easily be a guard or mercenary brought in by Teagan to act as the neutral host of the peace talks between mages and Templar. Dailish are nearby, Orzammar is nearby, it's just convenient for all the races coming together.
It would also mean that the player doesn't feel any particular allegiance to any of the major players in the conflict. Even Fereldens as compassionate and kind as Wynne don't really give two shits as Orlais descends into civil war, for example.

Why not an Orlesian? It'd be a nice change.

I think the reason they aren't going to give us an Orlesian protagonist is that we don't know much about Orlesian culture. Maybe after this game; after we get the chance to visit and experience it, then they'll let us do that.
Ferelden is a good place to have the protagonist be from because we all have a decent idea of how Ferelden works. Even new comers to the game have an idea of how Ferelden works because medieval england is pretty well ingrained into our cultural subconscious.
I do hope future games include the option to be from somewhere else, though.

Dane was a Fereldan, Calenhad was a Fereldan, Andraste was a Fereldan, and I'm pretty sure the Maker is a Fereldan. That being said I'm not opposed to playing a Rivaini, Tevinter, Antivan, Nevarran, Anders, and, last but not least, Qunari (orthodox). Rivaini and Tevinter being at the top of my list after Fereldan.
