Dragon Age IV: Where did my protagonists go?

The final quest is you finding the Warden, Hawke and the Inquisitor only to have you get caught by Flemeth and imprisoned. Dragon Age V: Flemeth Caught them All!

I just want my wardens to retire peacefully with their LI or friend of choice. Maybe get sent to a nice peaceful farm upstate.

The responses to this thread and, from what I gather from the people mad at me for even suggesting bringing the Warden back, any other Warden thread show just how difficult it is for writers and developers to make sequels for this game.

People who have Wardens who did the sacrifice don't care.  King Wardens also don't care.  A number of other Warden players don't care.

On the other hand, people who had Wardens whose storylines were closely attached to Morrigan or Leliana or some other story that is present in DA:I care a lot because...well, why aren't they there if the last thing we did was make them a big part of that story?  Like some people have mentioned, we would have been fine if they cut those stories from the next game and we could "use our imaginations," but that hasn't happened.

Given what's been said, it obviously isn't going to happen for this game but I can see future games where you can play as a new protagonist or play as the Warden, or Hawke, or the Inquisitor again, though I'm hoping all 40 of the Inquisitor endings or at some point in DLC the Inquisitor story is closed for good.  It's true if they voiced the Warden, people would think "yea that's not his voice" or "this Warden looks a lot more HD than he used to" but we'd get over it.

And it's not like devs would be FORCING people to play the Warden; just like optional backgrounds, it'd be an option, so I don't know why haters are so opposed to the idea of letting people who want to play their Wardens again have the option of doing it.  Closing the Warden story, a story based almost entirely on player decisions, without the player having a hand in how it ends feels...wrong.  For the people who sacrificed their Wardens: you chose to end your story that way, and that's fine.  But don't be mad or upset or un-understanding when people who have open stories want to be able to choose how they end theirs like you were able to.

Long story short: It'd be really sodding hard to bring the Warden back in any capacity, optional protagonist or not, but it's do-doable and I'm holding out hope they do it in Dragon Age IV: Where did our Protagonists Go or Dragon Age V: Flemeth Caught them All!

People just don't want their characters handled in a way that they wouldn't like, and after what happened to Revan and the Exile in SWTOR I can't hardly blame them. But I agree with you, we should get the chance to at least end the Warden's tale... and no, it's not over, not when they made them disappear and made our chosen LI's have important roles away from them when they were supposedly togheter.

Well to be honest there is no need to warden story until they die and well i don't think they should make generic warden and just throw ending to characters they don't how we played. In dao warden could have many endings like stay with wardens , alistair or just leave wardens and many others. To be honest disappear option isn't so bad for clear rpg protagonist and is quite often used to not destroy player character as disappear can mean sitting on the beach , acting from shadows ,going after ancient evil or whatever playes think that their wardens would do without destroying what their player character is.

Doubt it, but I think it'd be cool. Very unlikely.

Perhaps they Eternal Darkness us and it turns out all world states are alternate dimensions, and while the imported world state takes place in the same world state inquisition is in, but the inquisitor-warden is from a different one.

But what are the odds the warden would be the only one to survive the fade blast?
