'Duelist Catches an Apple' is a martial technique under the Chevalier's school of swordsmanship. It's used by Michel de Chevin at the start of chapter 3 to preemptively kill one of Melcendre's goons before they could swarm him.

Based on the above it seems that the Orlesian warriors like Michel, use a unique style of swordsmanship in contrast to their Ferelden counterparts, like Maric. I think it's safe to assume that each of Thedas' nations had developed unique weapon styles in order to counter their rivals'.

For now let's just say that the resources aren't that much of an issue so that you wouldn't have to waste time on posting about it, because... we know. Would you like to see distinct animations for melee talents that are influenced by a characters nationality, background or player choice (trying real hard not to post toggle)? Yay or nay?

Eh, sure, but I don't mind it not being there either.

Well yes it would make sense for each nation to have their own fighting style. From what we saw in DA2, companion specializations are a good way to tell the characters back ground. From, what little we know of DAI specializations they look close to DA2, DAO and Awakening. But, even in DA2 with the returning specialization they modified the skill trees. So, it is safe to say that companions in DAI will have the own specializations, and the Inquisitor will have a new spin on old talents.

Anyone else care to see this level of detail added unto the lore? *bump*

I would love to see that be done in the game

I think this would be a neat feature to add in. I remember Saints Row had that in one of their games. You could pick the fighting style of one of the gangs you overthrew when you were fighting melee style. It was a nice touch.

Well Qunaris should pack a bit more of a punch same with Dwarves but then you'd have to calculate the lower center of mass (Dwarves should have quite a bit more knock-back resist) Wouldn't want to receive a shield bash by one of those. Dalish following elven tropes should hit quicker but weaker.

I hope they wouldn't actually take it THAT far. I would hope they just do it for aesthetic purposes and not assign values to hits because of race and gender.
