Yep EA has a new CEO that apparently cares about the bad rep the company got from releasing unfinished and buggy games and plans to make some changes

The changes are as follows:

-Make Sure The Game Plays Well... Sooner
-Test Their Games More Thoroughly
-Be More Willing To Delay Games
-Tell You, The Gamer, About Games Sooner

Here is what Bioware's Michael Gamble tweated...

This means better Bioware games for us and possibly a better Origin platform...

He just said that the entire multi-developer mega-company is going to do everything better, faster, and with more integrity.

On one hand, that's called "marketing," and you can't trust marketing fully.

On another hand, they can hope to do something, or plan to do something, but that doesn't mean they can pull it off.

Show me you're better and faster, then I'll believe it.

EA would have to change it's hiring policies, really it's workplace dynamic as a whole. It's notorious in the field as hiring young students out of uni, working them to death, then letting them go. It's the place you go to get experience on your resume to progress to better things. If that keeps up, it won't matter what any number of the upper management say or do.

All CEOs care very much in the short term. They care that the stockprices increase so that they can get the options that will be given out if the price hits $X. To do that, anything is up for consideration. Once the options are received, they care about how soon they can get out of the position and go somewhere else.

EA worked for a good 15 years for this kind of reputation even Activision or Ubisoft (which are equally huge) can't come close to. It will take at least 5 years of good track record to change it, not just 1 good year (2008) and articles with promises.

So yeah, pretty much "We'll believe it when we see it" is the best/nicest response EA management can hope for

ME3 is an EA published game and the next installment of Mass Effect, including it's multiplayer, will be effected by EA's development philosophy.

Don't think too heavily on my reasons for my thread being on the MP section. Don't let it bother you either. Simply reply to the thread about the topic like most have and move on.

CEO's job isn't to make customers happy, it's to make sure that stock keeps going up. As such, I take the announcement as meaningless, customer satisfaction often has a negative impact on the bottom line. Look at just how profitable the most toxic companies are and the satisfaction rates of said companies.

That said though, Origin has made some strides in the right direction, Dragon Age: Inquisition got a (much needed obviously) delay and at E3, EA was content to show absolutely nothing meaningful about Mass Effect and the Unnamed IP, so I guess you can take that as evidence that I'm just being a cynical jerk right now.

happy customers are returning customers & a good source of positive reputation. if a CEO can't understand that simple philosophy, then he's as good as gone. or the company he runs is.

you want to make more money? make good games.

Ohhh! OHHHHHHHH!!! SHOTS HAVE BEEN FIRED!!!

you call that a shot? as far as I'm concerned, it was more like a fart in his general direction. you'll KNOW when I deliver a shot.

I'll believe it when I see a single new release of theirs not turn out to be completely unplayable bull-****ing-****

Seriously, between EA and Namco Bandai, bad publishers have completely put me off of buying brand new games now. I just wait 6 months until they deal with the BS, if I even bother at all.

I have better things to waste my time and money with than games that are ruined by these dickhead publishers.

oh I'm a believer. they scammed me out of 40 bucks with the overpriced piece of trash they call Dark Souls 2. worst controls I've ever seen in my life. and their customer service is even worse. first they tell you there's seperate teams for sorting digital orders, then they tell ya to contact a different office in your country, and when you contact them, they tell you to go to the distributor directly (Steam or whoever).

rip-off artists, the lot of them. I can safely say I will NEVER buy anything from Namcos ever again.

Too bad it's too late for mass effect

lol are you supposed to be "the last of the resistance", thinking it makes you look cool? it only makes you appear dim. if you don't like it, why are you here?
