This time I'll wait 2-3 years (2016+ish) and see if this matters.

EA had a great chance with 2008-2009ish, but then 2010-2013 blew it. So yeah, lets see.

Some really good words here. At least a realization that companies - especially tech companies - will increasingly be outright *unable* to hide from public scrutiny (when everything is connected.. everything is connected), might help them.

lol are you supposed to be "the last of the resistance", thinking it makes you look cool? it only makes you appear dim. if you don't like it, why are you here?

I can be wherever I want, and if I ****** a "me3 was good" fanboy off, then I even enjoy being wherever I am.

I'll believe it when I see a single new release of theirs not turn out to be completely unplayable bull-****ing-****

Huh? Most EA games work fine, certainly a lot better than games from Bethesda or incompetent developers like Obsidian.

"In a world where you just don't share, you never get feedback, the only things you're ever going to make are the things you know are going to be hits. So I really want us to change as a company and start making more new stuff, and in order to do that, you have to get feedback, and in order to get feedback, you have to be willing to open the curtain and have a conversation about it early.

It was an interesting read, most of it sounds good although I'm not sure about some of it. I also think it is easy to talk about change but it's another thing implementing it.

I'm pessimistic about this one.

The core problems with ME3 and DA2 weren't the ones caused by development and writing choices.
If ME3 wasn't rushed, I bet my Shepard would still dream about a shadow forest and a kid he couldn't save even if he mercilessly ended the Rachni with a button.

If DA2 wasn't rushed it still would have a cast of bisexuals, because that's the BioWare's current definition of being progressive. It still would have ridiculous Final Fantasy swords, it still would have "THE Leliana", the list goes on and on.

The ending to ME3 would probably still be the same but a lot of my issues with ME3 might not have existed at all if there was more dialogue between the developers and the fans, they had talked and shown more of the game in its early development cycle and ME3 had more development time. ME3 is too focused on Shepard and the Reaper War that it sacrifices planet exploration, proper interaction with all squad mates ( past and present ), the quality of dialogue itself ( too much eavesdrop dialogue, it's too passive a system, I don't feel engaged by it since I don't have to do anything yo trigger it, it happens in the background regardless of wether I pay attention to it or not ). I also think the pacing is ****, it's chore to play and I don't enjoy myself at all. ME3 also lacks polish, lots of minor areas that could use minor tuning up but these things do add up rather quickly. To me Bioware forgot to put the ingredients that made Mass Effect unique into ME3, ME3 is basically Gears of War with a skill tree and a few major decisions.

Huh? Most EA games work fine, certainly a lot better than games from Bethesda or incompetent developers like Obsidian.

Mass Effect 3 servers were and still are brutal, and the single player for this game as well as apparently Dragon Age 2 were ruined by EA rushing the game. Then look no further than Battlefield 3, which was absolutely horrible at release.

Those were 3 games that were grouped very close together in terms of release, so that was pretty disappointing. Then Dark Souls came along and completely crapped the bed with it's ridiculous servers that made you unable to play with friends online... and then there was Assassin's Creed 3, which took the contol scheme it had throughout it's entire franchise and turned it right on this arse (although that was Ubisoft).

It was a pretty disappointing time for video games when there was a lot of high profile releases.

It goes without saying that they need to drastically improve, because that kind of crap is not acceptable. I already know that I'm not going to bother buying a PS4 until the games I want are released, playtested by its fans, and THEN fixed as per the status quo.

Video game publishers are ****** assholes.

Dragon Age Inquisition seems to have a very healthy development time, so I'm happy about that.

Also, it's worth remembering that rushing games/giving them less time than they need is not exclusive or new to EA. To be fair, the only game in the Mass Effect trilogy that seems to be fully developed was Mass Effect 2, both the first and the third could use significant more time in the development house.

Every new CEO has good intentions...usually. Whether or not he can pull the company around to deliver on said intentions is something else entirely.

People who think EA are going to change their *******, multi-million business model to "improve their reputation" are just being naive. The bottom line is satisfying their customers costs money and EA is all about making as much money as possible.

Also...

Who the [...] are you to accuse anyone of that. That's all you've been doing in this thread. Talk about throwing stones from glass houses...

Well, me being me, I like to see the good in everything, call it being naive or whatever you want, but the fact that they are acknowledging the fact that they need to try much harder is a big step in right direction.

Fixed?

Note that the DA team's changed their minds about companion sexuality, and the ME team never believed in making everyone bisexual.

I will believe whatever this guy wants me to believe, but only if EA Canada releases a shiny, HD version of SSX 3.

You don't need integrity when you're zipping down Ruthless Ridge in HD, amirite.
