I never liked Morrigan on a personal level, but I love her as a character. Does that make sense?
I'm hoping she gives my character hell in Inquisition. And brings my babeh so I can see him/her. :3

Meh. I think the drawing looks better.
I don't care so much for cosplay too, but I like this. Immediately after I put my eyes on the drawing, figured out it was made based on Stravalon's cosplay photo. It's curious...

Yeah, that is pretty lame. Bioware should have given you all an option to step through the Eluvian.
Hopefully the Keep will at least recognize that friendship.

So I stole the idea for this question from Jewlie Ghoulie, but she gave me permission to use it for the Morrigan thread ![]()
For all of you Morrigan fans out there, what was the moment that made you really fancy her character?
I can't restrict it to one thing, so I will throw out a few:

I mean some of my characters wouldn't go with Morrigan (My Casteless, My Aeducan, My Tabris and My Cousland)
But my Amell, my Surana, and my Mahariel (Surprise, surprise my favorite playthroughs) would have left everything behind for their 'sister'. Especially Mahariel, she insisted Morrigan let her come and when she didn't I felt like knowingg ( or believing) she lost someone who meant the world to her to an eluvian once again would be shattering. -sniffles-

I instantly liked Morrigan when we first meet her in the old grey warden tower. Her voice acting+look was great and that scene i linked above was well done. It was like the game kept pushing you to fear her and not like her but that felt impossible to me. She just seemed really chill, intriguing and mysterious and her sense of humor showed from the start i was glad she ended up becoming a companion.
If i had to pick a moment where i really thought to myself "Morrigan is a great character" it would oddly be when she is Jealous about another romantic interest. She gets jealous/possessive and it shows that she is not just this free spirit dark mysterious witch of the wilds raised by a "monster" she is a normal woman with normal feelings and her shell was cracking.
What made me like Morrigan starts with my own personal experience so I shall tell you a little story;
I was an orphan growing up in Japan and I lived in many different orphanages until I was adopted by a loving family and moved to America. I understand very much how you can love and build a family bond with people who are not your blood due to their actions and care for you. But, this is not necessarily where the comparison and my joy in Morrigan's character comes from, but instead it comes from my best friend Rei.
We met each other when I moved to America and initially, she was a very closed off person. She had troubles and didn't have a family she was necessarily close to where I did and while the people who raised were not my blood relatives and blood family, I loved them very much. It seemed odd to everyone that Rei and I would become friends. She is very cynical, to herself and pessimistic, where I am very bubbly, outgoing , and perhaps too optimistic at times. But rather than becoming only friends, we became best friends. She relied on me, told me about her troubles and I am the only person she ever could say she loved and cared for with out it making her uncomfortable. I confide and depend on her more than I ever have anyone, and she gives me a lot of strength to go on when things get hard for me because even I can't be one hundred percent all the time. We're still the best of friends even though she lives on the other side of America and she knows she could always rely on me for help, and I her.
Now, the time I truly began to appreciate Morrigan as a character really began when I played the Dalish Origin. When considering what I posted above, I felt really close to being Mahariel --She was an orphan, her parents died, she was raised by Ashalle and the clan who loved Mahariel very much. And of course, I saw in Morrigan my best friend Rei. Someone who might not have had the kindest upbringing and learning to care for someone, seeing them as family despite not having that love and comfort growing up.
Thinking of this, I began to respect Morrigan more and more, research into her more and understand who she is. I really connect to the friendship between F!Warden and Morrigan (Especially a Dalish) so I have a very emotional bond when it comes to Morrigan. She is so well written for me to feel this connection and I really appreciate the fact that I was able to experience a character like Morrigan that really shows what an emotional bond could do in changing and helping a person.
I know this was very emotional, but it was honest.
and dont mock me because I'm pregnant , emotional and crabby :K

Hahaha aww thanks 8D
I've never played a male warden but my female wardens have always ended up becoming bffs with Morrigan. I love the sisterly bond she can have with a female Warden.
For me the moment I truly began to adore Morrigan was after giving her the mirror gift. Up until that point Morrigan had put on this big tough show about how she didn't need people or friends or objects and when you give her that present she sounds like she's going to cry. It showed this really sad and lonely side to Morrigan that I hadn't seen before and made her much more than that "angry bitter wilderness witch".
Then of course there was that scene during the final battle where she tells the Warden to "live gloriously" and, not gonna lie, I teared up. If there had been an option to bear hug her I would have. ![]()

Yes! Whenever Morrigan talks about how she cares she sounds so emotional

I'm hoping she gives my character hell in Inquisition. And brings my babeh so I can see him/her. :3
She brought great comedy moments to the party. ("Your man is dead. Get over it." had me in stitches) Loved the way she interacted with Wynne (who I found to be the more annoying character). Can't wait to see what biting commentary she brings to DA:I.
I really love Morrigan and I hope somehow her and my Inquisitor will be friends. I want us to be as close as possible. If we don't see each other enough to be friends, I hope she likes and respects me. The problem is, I more or less want the same thing from Flemeth. I have no clue how I'll choose a side.
I like her. But I cant stand her!
Why l like her?
She's unafraid of being herself. She's perfectly aware that her ways are socially abrasive but would rather fly her true colors at all times instead of trying to be nice just to please other people. Best of all, she WILL challenge you if you spout off something that generalises or sounds like youre spouting "The Truth ". I find verbal jousting like that refreshing and i respect a straight-backed personality like hers.
Also, Claudia Black ![]()
Since we're talking about why we like Morrigan, here's my account:
There are several reasons why I like her, but the one that truly stands out as unusual is this: she does not sacrifice her independence for love. That's why I like the (original) ending of the romance so much. It's not that she denies love. She acknowledges it, but has other plans which are more important.
Regarding the end of Witch Hunt, I think that indeed non-romantic motivations are insufficently accounted for in the scene, which makes it to be all about love or the child. For me, going through the eluvian with was just as much about curiosity and friendship, and actually, even with my main Warden, love was a factor but not the most important one. I think that option should've been open for anyone with a high approval rate who also did the DR, thereby showing their willingness to jump into the unknown.
I like the expression on Morrigan's face.

So, we're finally going to find out what Morrigan's goal is, what happened to the OGB and what happened to the Warden, right? No more teasing and getting kicked in the balls, right? ![]()

I hope so. Along with those plans not being 'stupid evil' and that she has a political gambit or two up her sleeve.

I'd like that to be the case. I can imagine the Hero of Ferelden's trip to Denerim could have been part of that plan (perhaps one of the political gambits), since Morrigan sets up a position of authority for herself in the Orlesian court. Maybe the Hero of Ferelden's disappearance could be tied to those plans. The mysteries surrounding her venture into the Eluvian, the child, and her presence in Orlais will hopefully be answered.

Interviews say that Inquisition will be Morrigan's moment, whatever that means.

- Not a huge fan of the Chantry, and she is perhaps the only character in the DA universe who is an outspoken critic of Andrastianism. She calls it like she sees it.
Given the conversation above, Morrigan doesn't seem to know even the most basic things about Andraste and appears to be ignorant. Or maybe she did know the answer, but decided to ignore Alistair because she takes him for a fool.
*shrugs*
