She specifically says the the Ritual doesn't work unless the Warden is freshly tainted. If he's too tainted the Old God's soul wouldn't be cleansed.
Edit: There needed to be just enough taint in the seed to 'lure' the Archdemon's soul to the embryo, but too much taint would end up corrupting the child anyway which would render the Ritual moot.
See that's the lovely thing with the corruption of the Darkspawn, it erupts like a fungal bloom, whom is to say its cleansed as much as it was sent into a state of dormancy, whom is to say that exposure to darkspawn wouldn't just end up creating a new archdemon?
This is the same argument i had with the ritual in the first place.

You know with the way that picture is set up, it looks like a fire is lit under Duncan's ass. That or he's farting fire. ![]()

It's been done before. Unless one of the last four Blights had an Archdemon in human form I'm assuming that won't happen. And performing the Ritual is as much about pragmatism as it is trust, selfishness, cowardice or what have you. There's potentially only four Grey Wardens in the nation two of which are potentially/essentially Kings. If all four were to fall so would Ferelden. With the Ritual having been completed any commoner with a weapon and some balls could end the Blight.
It's been done before.
According to what? I've never seen a Dev come within ten feet of questions relating to the OGB

It has. I'm not going to replay DA:O to answer you. Clearly someone was hitting the skip button.

Morrigan stated it was her mother's intention and thus why she accompany for the ritual to be done all along, It was NEVER stated anywhere that it had been done before.
And considering Morrigan only broaches the ritual when she confirms it does indeed require a Warden to kill themselves to obliterate the Archdemon, i wouldn't find her assurances of the ritual worth much anyway.
So citing my ignorance on the subject isn't going to fly here, there was never a mention of it being done before.

She said that it would absolutely work, which it did. This wasn't theory. It wasn't an experiment.

That sounds suspiciously like speculation.
Given Morrigan's involvement with the Orlesian court, it's also possible that the Hero of Ferelden could be in Denerim as part of Morrigan's plan (for players who chose to get romantically involved with her and leave behind their life in Ferelden to follow her through the Eluvian); it would be no different than how Meredith and King Alistair will always (verbally) fight in the Viscount's Keep, but the nature of their argument shifts to something entirely different depending on whether or not the Magi Boon was chosen by the Hero of Ferelden.
No, no, I can see that, but that's not what was being adressed in my post. It was about the Warden possibly being in Orlais with Morrigan in DA:I. It doesn't matter which reasons the Warden had to be in Denerim in 9:37, the fact is that everybody knew he/she was there, so Leliana mentioning a disappearance in 9:40 couldn't be tied to the Witch Hunt ending. The disappearance is an absolute in every playthrough.
I'm certain a romanced Morrigan will be somewhat different than one who was betrayed by the Warden (for example), but Morrigan already seemed to be enacting a plan when the Hero of Ferelden encountered her in the Dragonbone Wastes, and I suspect their (possible) son could tie into this.
Yes, I agree, but remember that I said "some changes in dialogue". I don't expect Morrigan to have widely different plans depending on the playthrough, but Morrigan expressing different motives. It's like the Dark Ritual, actually; depending on the Warden's relationship with Morrigan, her actions could have different interpretations (for example, that famous comic by Aimo represented what BFF Morrigan's real motivation was; the same couldn't be applied to a Morrigan who hated the Warden, despite the DR scene being played the same way).
swooping is good!
My girl Morrigan is a raven, fitting! And her beloved will be in the game! That still has me in shock!
She appears to have gotten a new face.

She appears to have gotten a new face.
Its the same face they've been showing in screenshots but its not a very good adaptation of her face model from Origins, that's for sure.
AH! so my speculations were right, she's the Raven/Crow. ![]()
She look so beautiful as always...
Yay! The raven exists! Er, I mean, Morrigan appears in the trailer! I wonder if Cullen remembers her.
Oh, by the way, was that an eluvian behind her when she transformed?

Ha, so the raven IS in the game, and it IS Morrigan.
I know! When I saw that, I weeped with joy.

@Brockololly - I think they have slightly tweeked the face. Bioware is known to iterate on their character designs until the last minute. At any rate, I think she looks smokin' hot. Doesn't bother me if she isn't 100% identical to the Origins model. None of the other characters are - such are the difficulties of porting to a next gen engine.

Still a knock-out, great to see Morrigan back in action and in shape-shifting form too, awesome. ![]()

She looks gorgeous, so cool to see her shapeshift into a raven/crow. Kinda funny she still has the same outfit, but it is iconic.
