I hope not! Being killed by my son is not how I imagine my Warden Amell dying. But still the concept art is awesome. I hope he resembles his father. I suspect he'll have his mother's eyes and be a mage. His father was one, his mother was one and his grandmother was Flemeth. A fine pedigree.

 Dont forget about his aunt(s)

If she refers to my Warden as a sister again, I may actually kind-of-sort-of-actually cry.

I've always found it perplexing how excited people get about familial relationships. I find the question of the child's nature as an OGC and what that may mean about a million times more interesting than the fact he's the Warden's son. The latter is an insignifant piece of trivia, while the former, now, that may have some odd consequences down the line.

My main Warden has a similar mindset. He would've been perfectly fine with leaving the child to Morrigan exclusively, but the child's special nature, whatever it might mean, made him evaluate his responsibility in a different way. Apart from that, he didn't follow Morrigan through the eluvian because he wanted a family life, but because he was curious about the outcome of Morrigan's plans and what he had set in motion by agreeing to the ritual, and his love for her was always at least partly rooted in how she was exactly not a "family woman".

You can find both things equally interesting, and I find it perplexing that people find other opinions/feelings perplexing. Besides, it's possible to have a normal human baby with Morrigan, so the OGB becomes an insignificant non-existent piece of trivia.

The boy will likely wear that necklace only if the warden helped to raise him. An momento from his father since Bioware decided to cut him from the bloody game.

See, I've been more or less ok with the Warden not showing up in person in the game for many reasons. They still could manage that well in keeping him limited to references and so on. But the OGB showing up in the game AND Morrigan but no Warden father? Plus the Old God Kid wearing a big ol' Warden emblem?

That sort of makes me more concerned that BioWare took it upon themselves to just kill off the Warden that romanced Morrigan off screen, which would be a real bush league move. Or they're otherwise making the Warden out to be a deadbeat Dad, which is the opposite of what I wanted since I had my Wardens go through the Eluvian with Morrigan to help her raise the kid.

I'm just real skeptical that BioWare will handle this plot line in a way that doesn't just axe the Warden out completely or relegate them to a line of dialogue.

I don't think there is any right way of involving the warden outside of DAO. As far as I'm concerned, I would rather the Warden be killed off than persist into DAI. I say, let go of that character, at this point the warden is just an anchor weighing the franchise down.

Speaking of Morrigan and OGB, I am wondering something.

Say if you are male Cousland, you romanced Morrigan, did the Dark Ritual, married Anora and then stepped through the Eluvian....Are you seen again by anyone ? Or is that the last time the world saw you ? Because I distinctly remember Alistair mentioning that the Warden was seen back in Denerim after stepping through the Eluvian before vanishing without a trace.

I am just curious because I am crafting my saves in my keep and it feels a tad irresponsible to marry the Queen of the country, to be a consort, only to step into a magical portal mirror to see your kid...after which you vanished without a trace....

Wait, so the Warden vanishes around the time DA2 ends and DAI begins....

Sounds very fishy.

I wonder if people other then Morrigan know who the father of her child is or if it is a big secret, im not sure if it's ever been said before as i don't read the books/do too much research. Would be cool if the kid knew he was Ferelden nobility (Cousland),Kirkwall Nobility (Amell family),half elf...etc etc.

Or the illegitimate child of the king of Ferelden, or the queen's half-brother.  No, seriously, I'm really excited about the potential political consequences the OGB may have, although I do realize nothing may ever come out of it.

I think Flemeth might know or will find out eventually. I'm not sure if who the father is will make a difference to how the kid will turn out. That said, maybe Morrigan and Flemeth will cross paths in Inquisition. I wonder how that meeting will go considering she can have the warden kill her for her grimoire or if she never found out about the possession ritual Flemeth detailed in her grimoire. From the sound of Flemeth when you confront her about Morrigan knowing of the posession ritual she did not seem to care what Morrigan knew about her.

Hardly.

There are a ton of ways you could have the Warden still a part of the world in a way that seems natural without seeming forced. I have no clue to what extent BioWare will do anything with the Warden in DA:I, but my concern here is that they're going to treat the Hero of Ferelden that lived in just the same way as one who died- namely either by killing them off offscreen or otherwise rendering them conspicuously out of action.

And what would make that seem jarring to me is that they're seemingly bringing back so many other NPCs from Origins that could be very closely linked to your Warden (Morrigan, Leliana, Alistair) and they're even bringing back an old PC in Hawke. There are a lot of reasons they could give in game as to why the Warden isn't showing up but when they bring back somebody like Morrigan and Morrigan and the Warden's kid but not the Warden? Eh, I don't know.

As far as the OGB goes, I always kind of hoped having your Warden go through the Eluvian with Morrigan meant your Warden would have some role in their upbringing. Maybe the Warden is off on some mission or something during Inquisition, which could work, but I'll just be very curious to see how they justify the Hero of Ferelden's absence when they have no problem bringing every other important PC/NPC from Origins and DA2 back in some capacity.

Doesn't Teagan/Alistair say something like, "The Hero of Ferelden should be back in Denerim by now"?

NPCs are not omniscient, and the HoF is free to do his/her own thing.

Huh. I can't possibly see who else it could be. Looks like rather than hiding him away somewhere she actually has him with her in Orlais, judging by the outfit.

I wonder if his appearance will change based on his father. I mean, will he look a bit like Alistair in my case? :S

...anyway, I think this art book probably signals that I should begin hunkering down and not paying attention to any DA:I related media anymore. The night is dark, and full of spoilers.  :bandit:

I hope the OGB takes on the appearance of his daddy. My Warden was black, so I hope that my OGB is light brown with curly black hair.

I wonder if our Dalish inquisitor will be able to talk to Morrigan about her little book heist.

"Wait a second, I remember you... you stole a book from us by clonking our keeper on the head, grabbing it, and then running like hell"
