So did anyone here made Morrigan drink from the Well or did your Inquisitor drink it themselves ?

Spoiler

My Lavellan drank from the well; in retrospect, it does leave her free from being bound to anyone, and I recall how much she hated the thought of losing herself to possession in Ferelden. Morrigan and my Surana Warden can move forward with their lives, while my Dalish uses the knowledge from the well for the benefit of the People.

So what are people's thoughts on Morrigan's role in DA going forward?  I was kind of surprised she had as large of a role as she did in the last third or so of the game. To the point where from the Temple of Mythal onward the whole Morrigan/Flemeth content sort of overshadowed everything else for me.

For the sake of discussion:

  • Do you think Morrigan shows up again in DA4? If so, what sort of a role do you think she'd have? Companion? NPC again? I guess a lot depends on when DA4 might take place.

  • What do you think would be the ramifications of making Morrigan drink from the Well going forward? Obviously Well Drinking Morrigan has access to tons of elevn knowledge and can dragon shapeshift but is seemingly bound to Mythal. Whereas non Well Drinking Morrigan doesn't have to worry about whatever coercion Mythal might bring.

  • How does the ending credits scene affect Morrigan going forward? Seemingly moreso if she drank from the Well, since it would seem Solas would then have some measure of control over her potentially. Then again, if we believe the developer notes found, maybe Super Solas just hands over Mythal and/or the Old God Soul to Morrigan when the time is right?

  • What is Flemeth's ultimate plan for Morrigan? My take was that it seems Flemeth basically gives Morrigan the thumbs up as being a worthy successor as holding on to Mythal when she shows herself as more mature when dealing with Kieran  in the Fade, thus maybe why Flemeth gives up her soul to Solas to pass on to Morrigan when the time is right?

Basically, if the developer notes on the post credits scene are true, I can sort of see how going forward, the developers could basically make Morrigan develop as a character such that she realizes Flemeth wasn't a threat necessarily and she accepts her "gift" so to speak by taking on the soul of Mythal and/or Urthemiel. That way if Morrigan was to show up again, the writers could basically hand wave away any power discrepancy between a Well Drinking Morrigan and a non Well Drinking Morrigan by just giving her the actual soul of Mythal anywa, giving her the same sort of super powers regardless of the Well choice.

But then again, assume for a moment that Morrigan takes in the soul of Mythal like Flemeth maybe wants. Does that mean Morrigan is taking in Flemeth too? Would Morrigan's personality all of a sudden be like cooky ol' Flemeth? Or did Flemeth die when whatever happened in the post credits scene happened?

And was anyone else sort of disappointed in how mellow Morrigan was? I understand why she was that way (especially if she was romanced or had the OGB) and it works but still... I missed the snappy, derisive  Morrigan from Origins that was incessantly ripping on Alistair. Kind of made her feel a little boring even. If Morrigan does go all godlike in some future game I just hope they don't keep mellowing out her personality to the point she's just some stoic god figure mumbling cryptic jibber jabber like Flemeth.

For the sake of discussion:

-snip-

Yes I do, but I think they keep it NPC, there are too many variations of things from DA:O to make her a companion again.  If they do, she couldn't be a romance option or it could really screw with some people's DA:O cannon.

Another reason they have to be careful going forward.  I would think this would be HUGE for her drinking from the well, but in game it cannot mean a lot for DA4 because of the option to not drink...

I'm actually wondering if with Mythal absorption or whatever by Solas might cut the connection to the person who drank? They no long hear the whispers, all they get is remnants of the ancient knowledge...would be a way to have that choice not majorly impact the next game

I still don't fully trust flemeth, but she's not as evil as she might have once seemed.  It does sound like Flemeth believes that once the time was right, Morrigan would willing accept the 'mantle' of becoming host to mythal, probably from past experience with other women like Morrigan.  So the ultimate plan may have been just to continue the chain with Morrigan carrying Mythal...

I"m sure the essence of Mythal picks up some of the host, but it is still essentialy Mythal.  Morrigan would become more like flemeth because the flemeth we saw was largely mythal, so of course she'll be more like that, but like the original actual flemeth without mythal, not so much I think.  But definitely cocky, that much power, and morrigan's wit, yeah cocky.

Finally got to the Arbor Wilds. IT'S ONLY BEEN TWO MONTHS SINCE I STARTED THE GAME.

Anyway, it'll likely take me another two months to finish it because goddammit Morrigan is just so photogenic.

Here, have some Morrigan...

I actually liked it, although I wished we'd had more time with her and could have seen her interact with more people in Skyhold to see how she reacts to them all. Same thing with Hawke, how s/he never got a scene where they actually speak with Cassandra, I'll never know...

I think that Morrigan's learned either through raising her son or her dealings with some of the nobility in Orlais when she has to hold some of her barbed wit back, but it might also be that she lacks any real "Alistair"-esque figure in this game with whom she is forced to deal with regularly, clearly does not like and enjoys mocking at every opportunity.

But if we had to lock her in a room with some of the Inquisition people she'd not get along with;

Morrigan and Vivienne would spend hours in a battle of wits and verbally witch-slapping each other, which given their dealings at court and working relationship with Celene, probably has lead them to cross paths and wits before. I also have no doubt that Morrigan would absolutely, completely and utterly loathe Sera, who has everything that she hated about Alistair and his immaturity, taken to the nth degree.

(Actually, their likely mutual dislike of Sera is probably the only time I could see her and Vivienne getting along?)

And to a lesser degree, her interaction with Solas at the Temple of Mythal makes it clear that she'd not get along with him either. Which is a tad amusing when you realise that they are both rebellious mages who have a lot of secrets, join their respective groups in both games with ulterior motives, leave at the end of the game to pursue those goals, try to break up with their LI to "save" them, are our resident fountain ton of knowledge of ancient lore. They are two peas in a pod, but I think part of their friction is because of their similar personalities and the need to prove that they alone are the only royal smart person in the room?

How did Morrigan and a non-elven Warden live in the Crossroads when it is said to be extremely umpleasant for humans to just be there?

At least kieran can be explained by him being a god.

A lot of the important stuff from TME kind of got swept under the rug.

Having finally gotten to talk to Morrigan back at Skyhold, it was great to see how much she'd changed, and to hear her talk about her son and to speak so highly of my Mr Warden.  A real pleasure to have her back in the game!

The artist Jessica drew this, I think it is really good.

Here is her tumblr page: http://arietasart.tumblr.com/

It was also featured in the Dragon Age: Inquisition fan spotlight: http://www.dragonage...05&sf35729579=1

I wonder if Morrigan will even tell the Warden what happened at the well, if she drank from it.

I don't think I've seen one in a while, though I could be wrong. Most Flemeth discussions tend to overlap with others.

Also, love the pics posted in here

There were one or two threads in the Scuttlebut section. Not sure on which page they are now. Maybe you could try a forum search? Or start a new "Flemeth" thread here in the Story, Campaigns & Characters section. I don't think that Flemeth has her own thread, not sure, though.

And I totally agree with Fiery Phoenix: The screenshots and pics are really beautiful.

I recently found a youtube video where Leliana was announced as the mistress to the Hero of Ferelden who was king in that clip or was it king-consort, im not sure. Anyways I started to think how awesome it would have been if Morrigan had been announced in a similar way. "Lady Morrigan. Veteran of the fifth blight, arcane advisor of the empress and the lover/wife of the Hero of Ferelden."

Okay maybe they would not have used those words but something similar would have been great. Its possible Morrigan wouldnt have liked all the attention.

This didnt happen but now that I think about it, a dance would have been even more awesome. The HoF would make a grand entrance and he would dance with Morrigan in front of everyone. They would have owned the entire show im sure.

She hids the fact Kieran is her son. For what I understands, she presents him as an kid she is taking care of for someone else. So Morrigan would very likely hid the fact her lover is the greastest hero of this generation. Imagine the fuss it would cause if the HoF went to the ball. I'm sure he must be an celebrity even out of Ferelden.
