When you learn a specialization, please put a cutscene of how you train for it. For example if you learn a templar specialization from cullen, show some scene of how he teach you the arts of his skill. The way it is now, nothing happens, and suddenly you are an expert after the dialogue finishes. It should not be like that imo. Show some cool sparring, or inquisitor hiding in the shadows assassinating some bandits (for assassin class) and so on.

Unless its a training montage to Eye of the Tiger I don't have any desire for it.

A training scene would just be weirder. What, you're an expert in something after a week? It's better to just handwave away all learning in an RPG.

not a sudden expert; you still have to devote points into it.

you wanna do it grind style, in which you only advance in a skill by using it?

mana draining normal attack: gain skill exp by aaing an enemy that has mana.

Cutscenes can be expensive to implement, and given the fairly limited benefit of ones such as these, I doubt we will be seeing these.

Yeah, but the KoTOR situation made sense in hindsight once you got to the big spoiler.

people like you brought the Cartel Market in SWTOR.

it's not expensive because we pay for it. let them bloat the game with features.

Cutscenes are expensive to make regardless of who is paying for them. This was already discussed in the sex scenes thread. With four races and two genders, developers have to consider very carefully which cutscenes to implement.

computer layman here, just speculating.

given the prowess of frostbite 3 engine, I thought the cut scenes, constructed from purely in-game graphics, can more than suffice in terms of image quality and detail.

with this premise, the cut-scenes will be significantly cheaper than, say, the cgi for final fantasy games because all that remains is coding in the movements, most of which are likely already present because a character already has animations/instructions for walking, combat, etc.

Depends on whether they are in-engine or not.
