Bring on the Spiders! love me a tension filled arachnid encounter. Really wish developers would put in different kinds of spiders/arachnids then your typical black widow shape, like maybe a giant Amblypygi or a bright colored arboreal tarantula.

Spiders can burn in the Hell they crawled out of. I've encountered enough of the crazy poisonous kind in my lifetime that I could truly die happy never having to see another one. I've had to deal with 3 brown recluse spiders inside a home (one was right outside my bedroom door) and almost lost my right arm to one (bit me as I slept, the little shite). So, yeah, BURN, SPIDERS, BURN!!
Hmm, maybe instead of a Necromage Qunari Inquisitor, I should role an Incendiary Specialist Qunari Inquisitor? Set fire to all the things!

Live in Australia they said, it will be fun they said.
I hate spider, but I have no problem with them being in the game. There's a sense of irony in turning Morrigan into a black widow in DAO. I do hope shape shifter is back.

I want to ride a giant spider mount and shape shift into a giant spider and be able to have a ranger spec'd rogues summon spiders and just eat all the people.

Well, at least we won't have to put up with Spider Daedra in DAI as we have to in ESO. ![]()

Daniel Kading @Daniel_Kading 2m
Doing #DAI Combat Reviews. I flatten 10-ft demons with Dorian & Bull combos left & right, but shout "NOPE" and run if I see 1 giant spider.
⚔ sebastianhanlon @hanlsp now
@Daniel_Kading inquisition doesn’t even have the Volkswagen-sized Das Spider that we had in DA2
Aww, I was hoping for some gigantic spiders in DA:I.

Don't like giant spiders? Don't play RPGs.
Spiders are part of the local wildlife as much as dragons. Deal with it.

Ironically, the Inquisitor class in Sacred 2 had a giant spider mount.

Spiders are our friends. They keep insect populations down.

Stop asking to remove spiders already. If we remove every monster that is scary to someone from the game then we'd be fighting giant, fluffy bunnies and colorful Butterflies.
What do we remove next? Dragons because they resemble Lizards and some people are afraid of lizards?
No more Broodmothers because they creep every sane peron out?
Get rid of companions because players with social anxiety migh be intimidated by having to talk to them?
The whole point about giant spiders is that they are supposed to be scary. Most of them look alien and frightening and therefor make good monsters to fight (Except those jumping spiders with the big eyes. They are really kind of cute.). Are they original? Hell no, but by now they are alrady integrated into the lore of DA and it would suck if they suddenly dissapeared without explanation only to please Arachnophobes.

Ewwww, I hate spiders, but in-game, I don't mind them, as long as they don't get near me on real life.

I think the main difference is that something like a broodmother is deliberately supposed to be disturbing and unsettling, as are, say, the children in DA:A. Giant spiders are just a fairly unimaginative genre convention. Arachnophobia is also incredibly prevalent, whereas fear of lizards is not.

Are you trying to say that the giant spiders are not deliberately supposed to be sacary and unsettling?
Again they are used in almost every Fatansy game exactly because of their unsettling nature. I already said myself that they aren't really original and overused, but that is because they actually work so well as creepy monsters.
Also the prevalence of Arachnophobia is irrelevant. Fear of heihgts is also pretty common, yet nobody argues that there should never be a high cliff programmed into a game. Furthermore it's not like you have to face the spiders for real. Your fictional character fights them. As someone that is unreasonably afraid of dogs in real life I had no major problems with Mabari dogs and wolves swarming my Warden and Hawke dozens of times in the games either.
Ultimately : Giant spiders are alredy established in the lore, so I'm against removing them from the DA games and I'd be against removing Mabari dogs as well just out of principle.
