Why kill Ashley Massive?

Do you want me to tell you or do you want someone here to tell you?

Neither did Bob. He's been absent for a while.

I have an excuse. I'm actively watching the World Cup, which has taken hold of my life (along with the summer class I'm taking as well as the Portuguese girl (from Brazil! In time for the World Cup!) I'm seeing) for the next month. And I've been in diplomatic hell for school for finishing my Masters (FINALLY!) only to re-declare for a new major (Geology). That's right folks, old massive isn't going to be a Political Scientist anymore. He's going to be a Geologist/Glaciologist. A REAL bloody scientist!

Blob has one too. He's been banned (likely).

It's Sunday, 1047 in the morning local time, I'm half-buzzed already (ALCOHOL IS THE BREAKFAST OF CHAMPION AND THE LUNCH OF GODS! and sex!), I'm still burning a workout high, Nico Rosberg won the Austrian Grand Prix, and BELGIUM AND RUSSIA ARE ABOUT TO DUKE IT OUT OVER WHO GOT BEAT WORSE BY GERMANY!

If you think my girlfriend can fight, you should see her box.

Why the change in major, Massive (good field, by the way)?

Wait... what kind of geology? 'Cause if you want to make money, then go into petroleum engineering.

Glaciology! $250k a pop to look at ice. And paid by the Gas Company!

Imagine if I was paid by the Electric Company!

Same man, different face. Except no because that would be silly. We all change when you think about it, like a breath on a mirror.

I'm only slightly drunk. Drunk enough to really think big balls (the kind of party you throw) is funny. Hehe.

Ashley is nut. She has a rubber butt. Every time she walks around it goes putt-putt.

How's it like being drunk? I turn 21 in December an some friends want me to start drinking with them. I'm against it and never intentionally drink so how is it like being drunk?

If you let animosities fester for some thirty-odd years, good for you. I prefer to let them go.

A potential threat against your entire species is not something I'd consider on the level of a mere grudge.

Most of what she says is about letting the alien crew have access to an alliance vessel, though in Garrus' case it doesn't make sense since the Normandy is codeveloped with the turians. After that she insists that she will put it all aside and do as Shepard says and the subject ends there.

But Garrus probably doesn't have the proper security clearance.

I mean, you don't get a free tour of an advanced warship just because you're a citizen of the nation that helped build it

if you're going by that angle, Ashley wouldn't be cleared to sensitive parts of the vessel either. In fact, she wouln't be cleared for anything other than habitation and cargo.

Actually, if Garrus is on the ship, then he does have clearance, because Shepard gave it to him. In any case, I doubt there's much of interest in the cargo bay. If anything, it's weird how Tali just ends up working on the very rare and very expensive drive core.

Now that I think about it, since it's possible to not recruit either Garrus of Wrex, does Ashley just mention Tali?

That is true.  I can only assume that Anderson fast-tracked some kind of clearance for her when he tapped her to be part of the crew.

Shepard, as a Spectre, likely circumvented these channels for Garrus and Wrex (I assume it would have been a lot harder to get such clearances for foreign nationals) which Ash may have had concerns about.

you don't 'fast track' a security clearance. It takes months (if not a year) to pass it. It was just poor understanding of military procedure.

Heh, I can imagine Shepard telling Ashley "Williams, get back to the cargo bay!" when they gather around the window in the bridge to look at the Citadel.

She isn't wrong, it's just that she isn't politically correct and convenient. It's there for all to see, even the history of the Council and citadel species will tell you they are looking after their own interests while claiming to hold on to higher ideals.

It's a natural thing, but the fact that they got a concept of higher ideals makes them possible allies and even friends. Sure they might let you down every now and then but you're better off with them than without them. They are better than people with no higher ideals that you can relate to. The Catalysts high ideals, might not be as..... compatible with your own.

Being aware of your own and others shortcomings is crucial, know yourself, know your friends/allies and know your enemy. It's also natural that people have to handle their own problems before they can help you, unless ofcourse you can convince them that they will be helping themselves aswell while helping you since you're fighting the same battle.
In the end, you managed to convince them that the crusible was the only card they had left sicne they had no viable way of fighting the Reapers. They had already seen their forces fail and all own plans had been rendered pointless in the long run. The best they could do was stall the Reapers.
They followed because it was the only plan they wern't certain would lead to a failure.
It was in their best interest, the exception was the Dalatrass of the Salarians that would hold back their fleet if you didn't sabotage the genophage cure. Still some of her people ignored her commands and still provided you with whatever resources were at their disposal.
I have a feeling the Dalatrass might be facing some political flak in the future.
Yet again, what Ashley shared was merely her own concerns, she didn't send a PM to the entire galaxy. I don't think it would be a surprise to the galaxy either.
Some might say "You humans are all Racist!" then they will go back to seeing after their own personal needs and that of their family and people. Because it's the natural order of things.

Recognising that people have different interests and agendas, which might not be in line with your own isn't the same as being racist.

Or perhaps the Alliance navy utilizes more flexible security procedures then you are assuming.

Yeah, but unless 6 billion people are in your pocket, what choice do you have :P
