Should I expect the same performance from ME2 as from ME1?

Well, I am not really sure whether I will be getting ME2 or not. The reason - I seriously doubt I'll be able to run the ME2 at even medium settings.

ME1 played on medium settings with an acceptable framerate, but to be frank, it looked quite appalling, and heated the computer up a lot too. Nothing critical, but still.

Now, seeing all the videos and everything, it occurs to me that ME2 will be a major resource hog. Or am I wrong and ME2 is optimised so well that it will run just as fast as the first did on the same system?

For reference - I have a C2D T9400 processor (2.53Ghz), 4Gb ram, Win7 64-bit, and Nvidia m9700GT videocard. And yes, it is a laptop. Hence my concern. Do you guys have an answer?

1. When any computer "heats up", that means it is either badly designed (including carelessly upgraded), or has been given poor maintenance.

2. It is still the same Unreal3 game engine, just slightly optimized compared to the ME1 PC version.

3. The official requirements published for ME1 were untrue and wrong. There's been some adjustment in the requirements for ME2, to get closer to the truth.

4. The general feeling among the developers is that ME2 should run slightly better on the same hardware that was used for ME1.

It will be like GTA3 to GTA VC. Same engine, better graphics, newer game, better optimizations. Laptops are prone to overheating while gaming because they're not suited for it. Invest in a notebook cooler to add extra fans.
