No pre-order or at release purchase for me because....
1) Quality Control. DA:O in particular was poor QA. For example: 1.03 anyone?
2) DA2. I can count on my thumbs the things about it that made me "wow" in a good way.

Don't forget the glory that was mass effect 3
No, the ending was not the only problem in that game

True. True.

You forgot hair! The horrible horrible friar tucks, captain janeway poof buns, the carved pumpkin put on to a head, the shaved head with a longer hair texture applied, etc...This is my concern ![]()
Enjoyed DA:O and DA2. Even with the sort of weird ending in DA2, I had fun and didn't hate it.
Hated ending choices of ME3. But I decided to pre-order DAI because of Mr. G and what I've seen so far.
Yes I could be disappointed, but as much as I hated the Me3 ending, some nice person was able to fix it so I can play it again. I'm hoping the DAI group will make a balanced game with hope to balance out the despair. Some times I like depressing, sad endings, but other times I want my character to survive with their LI and at the end they can stare at the survivors and think about the ones who didn't. Maybe I have a Charlie Brown complex but I'll trust them not to pull the football away.
more bitching? lovely
Was ME3 particularly buggy as Bio games go? ME1 strikes me as being worse. Besides crashing, there are persistent bugs involving biotic powers. ME3 still has the Ashley Marksman bug, of course. DA:O is worse than either.Don't forget the glory that was mass effect 3

I don't mean bugs, though there was the vanguard host glitch on multiplayer that I'm sure didn't get fixed.
I've already ranted and had to defend my opinion on what exactly was awful about ME3 already, but I'm talking about stuff during the campaign both story and design wise.
Bugs are just opportunities to enjoy the game in a different way.
I hate that patching is now likely to be mandatory.
I love this statement, and am absolutely going to use it in the future.

I'm sure bioware are going to use this defence in the future
They should. I remember how much I enjoyed, in Oblivion, using the dupe bug to build a ramp outside the capital so I could climb into the city without using the gate.I'm sure bioware are going to use this defence in the future
Yeah I kinda agree with this really, even though i'm super excited about DAI I think i'm going to wait for a while. At least until all the major bugs have been fixed and the inevitable ****storm has blown over anyways.
Yep, that's my plan.
Better quality, possibly more content, and better price. Win-win for me. I have more than enough things to play until Bioware's next title is in a decent fit state.

Could you elaborate? Maintenance of a product is normal is development firms. It is close to impossible to remove a product on launch with no bugs at all, even with the employment of super programmers.

Was DAO that buggy? There was the money bug at the beginning, and the Rally ability that got stronger every time you travelled between maps. What else? Was ME3 particularly buggy as Bio games go? I literally never encountered anything I would call a bug in DAO except for those I added with mods. I expect there were some, but I didn't see them.
The only one that bothered me was the memory leak (or something similar), that made the game crash eventually, if you played it for long enough.

Visual effects would slow the game down hard and made your eyeballs and denture teeth visible in cutscenes. Then there was stuff like items becoming unelectable, abilities not being able to be used even if cooled down, dialogue not playing, constant shuffling for attacks, invisible body parts, going into dimension X, and of course this.

Could you elaborate? Maintenance of a product is normal is development firms. It is close to impossible to remove a product on launch with no bugs at all, even with the employment of super programmers.
Yes. Patch 1.03 actually 'broke' Stealing (or Pick Pocketting if you prefer). That's a basic gameplay mechanic. How lite was QA to miss that?
I don't think I've encountered many bugs in DAO, but Awakening was pretty bad in that regard. I fail to see how waking up naked in the Architect's prison and not getting my gear back because my Warden's ghoul thing won't spawn lets me enjoy the game in an "alternative way". Apparently Sigrun has a personal quest but it only triggers if you don't talk to Amarenthine's guard captain before you have her in your party. Then DA2 is even worse with bugs. Of course at release you had the Isabela/Sebastian friendship bug that could slow Hawke down to a crawl. Patch 1.03 broke the passive Sunder ability for two-handed warriors. And now patch 1.04 broke Sebastian's Faith quest in Act 3 and they are never going to fix that. They broke the quest of a DLC character, one you have to pay extra for. I think that's pretty damn outrageous.
