Thanks. I haven't read Asunder, but I guess those abilities might be similar to rogue stealth abilities. Either way, I don't think I'll like or trust him.

I didn't like him all that much in Asunder but we don't really know what he will be like in Inquisition. He has probably changed quite a bit though. I just hope he isn't like Anders.

Out of those three? I'd have to choose Varric.

I'd also add in Cassandra and Dorian.

Varric of-course the other one is sucidial like most old grey wardens and the other is a snob.

I tend to rotate characters in my party around most of the time but I'll probably bring Varric and Cassandra most of the time.  I can't really decide on if I'll bring Vivienne as my mage in the party since I don't really know much about the other mages in the party.

The characters I play with depend on the character I play so the question is moot for me. If Vivienne is a healer though it will be hard to bench her (even as a Mage I'd rather be in the attack).

I liked Anders & Justice in Awakening, and even though they went overboard in DA2… "ELTHINA NO!!!" I still like Anders and felt like I owed him for saving Bethany in the Deep Roads. So he lived.

This Cole, though,

Spoiler

If I don't kill him I'm going to make him very uncomfortable in my party. He hasn't really been revealed in this game though, so maybe he has changed a lot and I will end up liking him, idk.

Three ongoing playthroughs from DA:O->DA2, so I'll do everyone depending on if the game is good enough to warrant it:

1) Character themes: Pragmatic diplomat, takes the logical route if he can't find the absolute best. Male, tanky mage, human in DA:O, romances other mages.
-> Probably Varric, Vivienne, and Cassandra. Maybe romance Vivienne if possible to carry on the mage-on-mage tradition. (As a note, I figure these three will also argue endlessly.)

2) Character themes: Idealist, seeks change, will use power to make it happen. Female, rogue, human noble in DA:O.
-> Probably Sera, Solas, and Blackwall. Not sure who to romance, but maybe I'll make a homosexual character and go with Sera.

3) Themes: ruthless, efficient badass; a lover of freedom and power. Male, warrior, dark-skinned, dwarf noble in DA:O.
-> Probably Iron Bull, Dorian, and Cole(?). Maybe Vivienne now that my dark-skinned characters might have a dark-skinned option, or maybe break tradition and create a female qunari for the badass factor.

Some depends on how characters turn out, really. If Dorian is a sad, whimpering pup, Solas and Dorian may swap places.

I'm still trying to figure out if the question assumes you're only to pick one, out of A, B, and C, or can have all three.

Regardless, I'll be a Rogue first playthru so at this time I'd say Varric or Cassandra, Vivienne for sure, and maybe Blackwall. Still a lot of unknowns though, so the picks may change.

Varric without a doubt will always have a place in my party because he is freakin' awesome and easily my favorite character from the series. Vivienne definitely has a chance because my playstyle is usually toward being mage heavy (My main character will always be a mage). Blackwall will have to compete with Iron Bull and Cassandra for the heavy melee spot depending if I need a sword and board or a full on brawler.

Really looking forward to hearing more about the party options because the characters are what I really love about Bioware games, so I may find that I have a hard time choosing once I start playing since I might like them all :)

Of the three posted It's probably Blackwall or Vivienne or both (and this is only because I'm rolling a rogue). Varric's my boy but he'll be riding the bench this time.

Well there are three choices given to us there and we can have up to three party members...so yeah.

But if they're referring to all party members, I plan to rotate accordingly. Everyone will get several chances for action.

My ideal team usually consists of one warrior, one rogue, and two mages.

Variations include: Two warriors, one rogue, one mage. Or: Two Warriors, Two Mages. Or: One Warrior, 3 mages.

Yeah, sometimes I just don't bring a rogue with me. Despite the goodies they offer, combat wise I find them the most expendable.

Some combinations I've been coming up with are:

1) Mage Inquisitor, Vivenne, Cassandra, Varric.

2) Mage Inquisitor, Dorian, Solas, Blackwall

3) Mage Inquisitor, Sera, Iron Bull, Cassandra

4) Rogue Inquisitor, Cassandra, Iron Bull, Vivenne

5) Rogue Inquisitor. Blackwall, Dorian, Solas

6) Rogue Inquisitor, Cassandra, Iron Bull, Blackwall

7) Warrior Inquisitor, Cassandra, Varric, Vivenne

8) Warrior Inquisitor, Sera, Vivenne, Dorian

9) Warrior Inquisitor, Iron Bull, Blackwall, Solas

And of course, since this is now possible, let's not forget the ALL ONE CLASS PARTY

Mage Inquisitor, Vivenne, Dorian, Solas

Rogue Inquisitor, Varric, Sera, Cole

Warrior Inquisitor, Cassandra, Iron Bull, Blackwall.

Sheesh, the amount of ass-kickery coming from the all warriors team...crazy.

Isn't Cole a blood mage or a spirit, supposedly, though? Or is he like Justice only a "Spirit Rogue" instead of a Spirit Warrior?

I think words you used "Spirit Rogue" fits perfect,

And Varric.

And

The only one most of us are familiar with is Varric and I love that charismatic bastard. He's definitely going to be in my party. We'll see about the rest of them. Vivienne is gorgeous and seems pretty fierce. I have a soft spot for strong female characters so hopefully she'll be one of many from the new cast of characters. Blackwall seems cool, but again...won't know till I play the game! So many colorful characters to meet and greet!

Because of the balanced spread of classes, and the more open design of DA:I, I think I may be able to settle for a party rotation. Though I'll probably grow attached to at least one character enough to pal around for the whole game.

Hopefully there's enough quests that rotation can be satisfying. In DA:O, I was always uncertain who would be the best to bring to certain quests, and it was harder for me to change it up because there were some that I wanted to keep around for the duration of the game. DA2 was easy because I could easily just leave a few where they were for almost an entire Act.
