We are probably going to be stuck with Cassandra. Varric and Vivienne at the start until we do the others recruitment
quests. Out of those listed I would pick Blackwall, hopefully I can tell Vivienne to take a hike or not recruit her. My main party wil be Mage inquisitor, cole, Dorian and Solas.

Varric will never leave my party I think. I always have him with me in DA2, even in playthroughs where I specifically try to mix it up a bit I always end up bringing Varric with me more often than not. He's just too damn awesome.

I'd go with Varric, Cassandra and Sera as my main party and Blackwall, Solas and Cole as my cannon fodder party

Took the words right out of mouth. VV has a certain allure. If I had to choose between those 2, vivienne for the sake of trying someone new to the party.

Depends what class I'm playing at the time, what type of personality, and what each companion's approval preferences are.

Me as a rogue, blackwall as a tank, and two mages as both heals and dps.

 

Did this with me, Allistar, wyrne and morrigan in origins and we wrecked faces

Like most of the others,  Right now Varric will be part of my team no matter what.  Then of these 3, it would depend on whether I'm playing a mage first, which means I'll include Blackwall or if I'm not a mage I'll include Vivienne.  

 

I'll get to know them all and then start including the ones I'm comfortable with.

But so far I see me having Cassandra and Vivienne in the party as well. This is for 1st playthrough as a rogue

 

Second playthrough (Mage) will have Iron Bull, Sera and Blackwall.

 

Third as warrior will have Solas, Dorian and Cole(?).

I'm going Qunari  DPS Warrior 1st time out So i'll be need an Attack mage(vivianne seems to fit the bill there)  a tank (cassandra has a sword shield down pat   and  a ranged  rouge for locks and traps  so varric since i'm not sure which specialization Seras falls into

Out of all 12 of the characters (which we now know is 9 companions and 3 advisers) that was showed to us in the "last supper" picture i knew that out of them all Varric WILL BE IN MY PARTY...the rest, I'll have to wait. Blackwall seems high on my list and Cass. Vivienne i would only want so i can learn what her "hidden" agenda is, but I'm thinking i'll learn that even if she isn't in my party a lot. Now Cole (who is confirmed now) i would sadly have to pass him up for Varric for my first playthough. IB does nothing for me. Solas, Sera, and Dorian I will take with me at some point .

I usually try to make my parties make the most sense for where I'm going rather than just picking whoever I like the most. Out of those three tho, I'd probably go with the safe choice and pick Varric.

Depends. It's usually a toss-up between the ones I like best and the ones I need the most. I won't know that until I get into the game and figure out who I am and who they are.

It depends on their combat abilities. I never used Varric in DA2 for this reason.
