So far, I've made it through the first three campaigns(CE, 2, 3). Still have to complete 4.

And apparently, Halo 3: ODST(bumped up to 1080p/60fps) will be added for free to the Master Chief Collection if you owned it from launch to the 19th of December. Yay for early adopters!

Damn did I miss out, I bought myself the MCC for Christmas a couple of weeks ago but wasn't opening it until Christmas Day.

Still, I am glad that people are getting compensated for the multiplayer not being where it should have been at launch.

By the way, is the multiplayer still a mess?

Much better now. Can actually get into games with a little wait. Still not perfect, but absolutely playable with a little patience.

That is EXACTLY what killed my interest in Halo years ago, hahaha. After I had them all, I had to go on a multi-year Halo break until I picked it up again with the MCC.

I'm honestly not surprised. We had a map printed out and were crossing of the ones we'd found, but just couldn't find two due to the ambiguity of the overhead map and had no better luck in game.

The whole thing should have been painful, but randomness from the game just made it very memorable. Creepy music suddenly kicking in, parts of the map being almost pitch black, finding a working ghost, stealthy engineer instant death explosions, and eventually earning the mongoose and trying to get it through the more narrow parts of the map...

It took a team of three(myself included) to get them all. When I tried to do it solo prior, I was missing one and couldn't find it bloody anywhere. UGH.

We need to work together if we're doing this again on current.

Glad to hear it. Honestly, the multiplayer not working wasn't even going to ruin the game for me, I never played Halo or Halo 2, them both being included in this makes the game worth it to me alone.

ODST was a very good game. It was the last game Bungie made that was actually good. It's a shame that firefight isn't included as well, but I'll take it!

Also, the fan favourite (and personal favourite :P) Halo 2 BTB map Relic is getting remastered, and will be available to all MCC owners for free spring 2015 (you dont have to have owned MCC from Nov. 11 - Dec. 19)!

My stepfather just sat down in my game chair and watched Halo Nightfall and he gave it a 10/10.

He's not a gamer. At all. He's not tech savvy. At all. He is a U.S. Army and Army Reserve veteran of 20+ years in the service. He's close to 50 years old.

But he knew of Halo's name through its transcendence into popular culture. He saw commercials for Nightfall and wanted to watch it.

I gave him the necessary background information on the Halo universe first and he watched all five episodes.

He pointed out all the military know how that only a soldier would know, his favorite character was Locke, and he really enjoyed himself. He loved it.

I thought that was pretty cool. :)

Played some Halo 1 (Master Chief collection)  as co op with my brother over x-mas. It keeps crashing. First 2-3 levels were fine. Once levels get longer they start crashing randomly. It happens roughly once/level. Due to Murphy's Law,it mostly happens when you are around 80% done with a level. When it does happen, it is impossible to continue  at last checkpoint. We played through Library.. crash after that was the last one for us. F£@K this dysfunctional release. Smaller headaches include checkpoints not registering, game randomly crashing  immediately after Xbone boot. There I thought it was only matchmaking that was broken about this game. heh.  Console game borderline unplayable due to bugs and instability two months after release. Cool.

Also, why the F so you need to have the DvD in Bone to play the game? It is 2014 for love of ged. Clearly it fully installed on the  HD. They have like thousand layers of DRM as it is. I think my daily-gaming PC has had some  GFX driver CD in it since last October.

#JustaConsoleGamerThing.

Buy WiiU guys. Never had issues with mine. Unlike Xbone and PS4, it also has a decent amount of very good  exclusive games out. Ones made during the on-going decade no less.

That said, Halo 1 is truly  an excelllent game. It sucks to have great games broken by dysfunctional releases of incompetent dev teams.

I have the digital version and have never run into a crash(that I remember at the time, anyway). When I played co-op with Earthbound over online, we never did either.

Sadly, I think the coop issues are a split screen thing, there's been talk of that for a while now. Just another thing to iron out.

And I take it some people here must have played the Guardians beta by now. I played a few games last night and well... its certainly different. And I guess I have to eat my words on ADS not being a thing for all weapons.

The stupidly fast pace of it all combined with the new features means it doesn't feel all that much like Halo. But Halo 4 didn't either IMO. And in contrast, I'm actually quite enjoying Guardians, so maybe that's not such a bad thing.

There's a real sense of team play as well thanks to the new mechanics that I really like. Clambering, thruster packs, and the hovering thing when you ADS mid air all make for great synchronisation in the team. Storming enemy positions with each member doing something unique with those abilities is a whole lot of fun. That and there's just clever stuff with a lot of the mechanics, like not being able to recharge your shields while you sprint for example. Little things that keep it from getting too hectic.

I think I'll quite like it, all in all. If I want to play my slow paced, traditional Halo I've got the MCC with all the content I'd ever need only a disk change away. I'm interested to see where they go with it.

Halo 5 is good, it's the first Halo game since 3 that actually feels like Halo Multiplayer. It may be the balance and the equal starts. Either way, its good. The issue I have with it is the terrible ranking system.

Halo MCC works pretty well for me on splitscreen co-op. I have had no issues with it.

In my opinion, Halo 5 feels like a super fast-paced Halo.

I just saw a ranking system that wasn't the overused xp grind of most modern shooters and assumed it was all right. I don't think I paid it much attention.

The biggest problem I have with the beta is the respawn music.   :P

I think if they got rid of kill cams, and added a better ranking system, the game would be nearly perfect

New maps and modes added to the beta

It's a shame the search times take so long I never bother to play it anymore. Honestly what is up with 343 and their incompetence when it comes to matchmaking??

I haven't done too badly with search times, though instead matchmaking usually crashes when someone leaves the lobby once a game is done. Then it gets stuck trying to find new people, and the only way out is to close the game.

Then the beta itself takes forever to boot up, so it may as well have slow matchmaking after all that.

They're a funny bunch, 343.

At least the new maps are good.

I played several games of slayer, so that's all I can talk about, but the gameplay bits are just horrid.

Designing half the game around sprint, which just needs to be cut, the bullet magnetism, the ADS, the crappy control scheme, the pointless additions like charging and sliding and ground pounding, its just completely uninspired and derivative from other franchises.  It barely even recognizable as Halo, aiming down iron sights/holographic scopes, melee is practically gone, switching weapons mid battle is impossible, the list goes on.

Then there's the minor issues like the announcer being too vocal, talking spartans, horrid new weapon models, boring maps, its just a trainwreck

That sword is a new sword, it doesn't replace the old ones. Its the Arbiter's sword as far as I'm aware, and it offers a greater lunge? I don't recall what it has over the normal swords you'll see.

so its not a crappy model, its just redundant weapons, like the BR/DMR and AR/SMG

Far as I know it only appears on that map. Could be wrong though. And I definitely don't see those weapons as redundant. Anything is handy in that S&D game type.

My issue with Halo 5 is how reduntant and useless certain features.

Sprint and thrusters should not exist together. Sprint ruins the game no matter what way you twist it. They should have cut it and just had the thruster pack (one of the better additions they made).

I dont mind the clamber much, mainly because while it gets rid of the old type of skill jumps, I feel like it does add a new type to the game in its place.

The ground pound is useless, as are sliding and charging. I've never bothered using them and have never had them used against me either.

Control scheme is a **** show. Terrible controls, the only somewhat good control scheme is recon, but then you have to press x to sprint.... ?????

And then you the oversaturated medal list, annoying announcer who sounds way too excited (why cant they just go with the old style honestly? So many people hate the new medals and announcer), killcams (just why? At least give an option to personally turn them off), and talking spartans (should be able to be toggled on/off, as its useful when no one has mics).

And of course, wtf is with 343 not being able to make good matchmaking systems? The game can take 10 mins sometimes to find a match!!

Honestly, there are some good mechanics, i dont mind the smart scope too much, i map design is solid, gunplay and thrusters feel good. but there are alot of issues they need to fix.

They are lucky they have me invested in the story, as the only thing that has me still interested is campaign. It'll most likely be a day/week one buy for just for campaign, but no preorder (especially not after the broken mcc launch).

This is odd. Looking into today's Microsoft Windows 10 event I came across a tweet from Satya Nadella on what to expect from Microsoft in 2015. This is the pic from that tweet:

B6NK-DPIAAA3i_D.jpg

And the tweet itself:

https://twitter.com/...366010453532673

Perhaps it's nothing but is it possible Microsoft's considering a PC version of the Master Chief Collection?

On the other hand, there was no such announcement during today's event which, from what I've read, kind of dropped the ball whereas "renewed focus" on PC gaming is concerned.
