I hope it doesn't suck like MCC did.
Aside from the server issues for the first couple months, the MCC was fine. Were it not for the server problems, I'd go as far as to say its the best remaster/remake made to the this day

Can't wait to see Red team again, I shall kick ass in HW2 in honor of John Forge.

I pretty much stopped caring about Halo after Reach. But I was pleasantly surprised when I heard the news from a Total War Rally Point.
Attila, Alien: Isolation, Warhammer, Arena, and now Halo Wars (On PC, too!). CA is making a comeback.

I never finished Halo Wars or Spartan Assault and I can't see getting Wars 2 or Spartan Strike since they really feel like a chore to play. Luckily these Halo B side franchises don't interrupt updating the MCC and finishing H5G.

After 7 years..... 7 long years, Halo Wars is back!!!!!!!
8 years, but yeah, that only makes it better.
For a while, I thought they were going to put the rest of that story into the Escalation comics.
I'm rather glad they're deciding to make another game rather than just kill them off. That's what happened to Team Black afterall.
But we're finally getting into what happened to the other S-II's.
As far as we know now, Blue Team is still the only confirmed element of S-II's still alive (let alone active). Naomi is as well, but... I don't know how much we're going to see of her now that Traviss is gone.
Team Black is dead, killed on Installation 03.
Red Team, sans the iteration under Jerome, is dead (and they comprised any other teams too, such as Green team), all killed on Reach.
Grey Team is still out there, somewhere, I'd imagine. I'm glad they at least got a nod in H2: Anniversary via the terminals. Unfortunately, I see them getting the Team Black treatment.
There are a handful of other S-II's, most of whom were ones where the augmentations went awry: Fhajad, Musa, Serin, Kirk, Rene, and Cassandra are regarded as still being alive.
Then there's Maria.
As well, there was also a Class II of S-II's, trained and augmented around 2537, though this is technically quasi-semi-canon (it hasn't been confirmed or denied) beyond a dubious set of circumstances, so the level of S-II's may still be higher.

And if Halo Wars can come back maybe there is hope for ODST yet?
I don't think we're going to ever get an ODST sequel, namely because of the 6 main characters, only Captain Dare is still in her original position, what with her being a high level ONI Agent.
Buck and Romeo are both Spartans-IV's now. We know that Buck is even going to be in Halo 5 as part of Osiris.
Mickey is also an S-IV, but is also likely spending the rest of his life in a stockade (treason). I still think they totally shat on his character, and 'New Blood' was, well, the worst Halo book I've ever read. It and 'Hunter's in the Dark'.
Dutch retired.
And the Rookie is dead, killed rather unceremoniously in New Blood.
I think the main reason we'll never see an ODST sequel per se, is because 343 has the Spartan IV's now.
Hell, I partially expect the ODST's to be integrated into the Spartan branch, with their entire organization essentially merging with the Spartan IV's.
What I want to see is what became of the remaining S-III's. We know that Jun is basically the 2IC of the entire Spartan Branch now. There's an unknown number of S-III's from both Alpha and Beta company in units such as the Headhunters or similar groups to NOBLE Team (as well as Tom and Lucy, the only S-III's to survive one of the Suicide Missions that they were deployed on). Gamma Company was gearing up at the time the war ended, so I'd imagine the vast majority of them were still active, since the only team members from Gamma Company we see are from Ghosts of Onyx, and it's explicitly stated that they're still there to compete for top honors with 2 other teams (one of which was wiped out), whereas the rest of the company had been moved off planet.

You'll play as-
Master Chief(in charge of Blue Team)
Agent Locke(in charge of Fireteam Osiris)

Agent Locke is one of the 'knock-offs'.
Every Spartan IV is more or less considered a knock off.

no more or less here, they're all knock offs, pale imitations

Yeah. Blue Team is going to be in it.
this doesn't bode well for the whole "have to read three books, two comics, and half dozen shorts to understand Halo 4" trend that people complained about

Spartan Assault and Spartan Strike aren't bad, they're just rather clunky as far as gameplay goes. However, they do have passable stories, even if Spartan Assault is a rather cheap justification on how Spartan Sarah Palmer is a "legendary Spartan, up there with the likes of any II or III". 343 even openly regretted that statement after the fandom tore it apart.

No it doesn't. But I don't care about those people, nor should 343. I for one applaud how much more... comprehensive the universe is getting.

Honestly that was a big weakness of Halo 4. If you don't read certain novels or terminals you will be lost trying to understand the story. Hopefully Halo 5 will be more asessible to players.

Granted, I'll take a page from Halsey here:
Spartan Thorne: "So you don't think that we're (the S-IV's) capable of being Spartans"
Doctor Halsey: "Perhaps some of you are closer than others."
Not all the IV's are bad: Buck (who is very, very humble about being a IV and outright acknowledges that no IV will ever be on the same page as the II's or III's), Locke, whoever is on Crimson Team (granted, I headcanon that Crimson is made up of former S-III's from Gamma Company who were on track for units like NOBLE, meaning that they aren't technically S-IV's), Thorne has a lot of potential...
They'll never be on the same level as any II or III, but some are more worthy of being a Spartan than others.

343 already said it's going to rely a lot on external material.
In all honesty, I'm fine with that. I want to see more of the lore being integrated into the games.

Apparently they were highly surprised by the overall negative response to her character.

ugh I really don't want to have to read shite like the ODST novel to get the gist of things

Other than Buck, Throne and (potentially) Locke. The Spartan 4's come across dull, unlikable or both.

So am I. I'm glad they're paying attention to the lore, or I'd worry they'd run roughshod over it.
