What I don't get is why Liara gets so much hate for being forced on people when Garrus is infinitely more guilty of this. The dude has so many lines and conversations, more than even Liara, even though his relevancy to the plot is zero. He's the most useless out of the original 6 ME1 squad mates plot wise, the rest actually do something over the course of the trilogy, Garrus just makes calibration jokes.

The difference is that you can choose to either not recruit Garrus, or have him get killed. You don't have that choice with Liara.

Even if he was forced to be in your crew, I bet people still wouldn't mind because he's a charismatic gun-slinging hotty

I got this off of Google images.   Concept art of a brutally handsome MALE Asari:

Eww.

I can diggit. I'd be pretty damn pleased if the asari were a gendered race and their men looked like this. More options the merrier.

For those who hate Liara, I wonder if their tune would change if Liara was this.

For me it wouldn't change a thing.

My point was more that arguments like this with about ten participants are poor testing grounds for determining the feelings of the entire fanbase. I'd say a pretty significant chunk of it, albeit not the forumgoing type, has a reaction akin to "hot blue alien chick=liked."

I've yet to see topics about how Liara is so awesome and amazing, and topics like these draw a lot of interest.

It didn't take your saves or anything, it was just a normal survey where you manually inputted the answers. So obviously when they ask who you romanced you're going to choose your canon Shepard's LI.

For all we know about things like that, a bunch of people with no time on their hands filled it out of boredom. It certainly seems odd given that Ashley is so polarizing.

All of the squadmate fan threads for the female characters, including Liara, under Customization>Party Members, are fairly active.

Well, yeah; squadmate fan threads remain what they are. And half the interest in these comes from our side.

Proof positive that everything works better with blue skin and head tentacles :)

Whoa now, lets not go crazy here. As much as I find the picture sexy(and I do, quite a lot, actually), it's still nowhere as sexy as Liara is :)

Lol I think that mostly depends on your sexuality. As a straight female, sure I find Liara gorgeous and hot. But I would be most enthusiastic to..embrace eternity with blue man up there  :D Damnit Bioware..

Certainly true :) And my sexual preferences certainly play role in this, which is big part of why like Liara as female.

That said, the blue dude in the picture is still pretty damn hot ;)

That's what you might think at first, but then there are people here like Excella who want there to be krogan romances in future ME games. Each to their own  :P

That’s hilarious!  :D  Reminds me of Fallout New Vegas -- a sex fetish with a robot.

Maybe we need to start a new thread entitled:   "Why we LOVE bluebutts"

Remember those krogan that wanted to mate with Shepard on Tuchanka?

Bioware missed a golden opportunity there, just saying.

The above Krogan photos were a real hoot (LMAO). :D

At the time of this post, there are 5,856 READS and 492 REPLIES to this thread.  After about 100 replies, the comments appear to become REDUNDANT.   Since I worked in technical marketing for 6 years, take a look at my signature (below) for a moment.

Okay, Bioware's marketing department (to stay solvent) must asses the majority and make a decision.  They obviously can't make another blunder like the ending of ME3 else we'll go spend our $$$ elsewhere when ME5 comes out.    I would presume this thread will go on forever.   It could have just as easily been:

Why does everybody HATE / LOVE Miranda?

Why does everybody HATE / LOVE Jacob?

Why does everybody HATE / LOVE Jack?

Why does everybody HATE / LOVE Kasumi?

....and (according to the response in this thread) I could expect the same kind of wind.  Political candidates are usually elected because people LIKE them -- more than what they do (or don't do).  I do however enjoy reading more than just the [opinionated] FACTS in this thread.

I see lots of emotion there -- and I have my own [emotional] OPINION -- which is: though Miranda is the sexiest of the series (only outdone by EDI), Miranda speaks from the intellect in contrast to Liara who speaks (to me) from the heart.   Whether she's right or wrong is not the issue.   We've been right & wrong at times in our lives (though some think they are NEVER wrong -- though I can think of a specific 16-year-old that has the whole universe figured out & has concluded everyone is an idiot but him).

I've studied the philosophers to discover exactly WHY they think they way they think.  When it comes to "opinion" my favorite is VOLTAIRE:  "when NEITHER the speaker or the listener understands what's being said -- then THAT is philosophy", unquote.   Studying their harsh backgrounds, health conditions, & safety -- there's no mystery why they (and we) formulate and arrive at different conclusions.

Perhaps this thread WILL continue forever.

I never liked her due to her plot armor. From what I can tell, she's also worse if you romance her. She's an ass to Shepard in the Shadow Broker DLC and talks about cheating on them in ME3 at some point. But I might be wrong.

You mean she talks about cheating or that Shepard cheated? The latter is true if you romance someone on the Normandy, but she never actually cheats herself, as far as we can tell.

From what I read she apparently talks about wanting to have sex with Javik at the DLC party Shepard can host, or someone mentions it and she gets nervous/blushy, even if she's with Shepard. I didn't romance her though so again I might be wrong.

If that was a take on popularity as a whole, the most popular would be Miranda and Kaidan, and Garrus would be among the least. I'm also seeing a real dearth of hate topics for characters like that, but Liara's seem to pop up an awful lot.

I'm pretty sure that doesn't happen. I've gone through this sequence a few times and never got such dialogue. As for Javik, an unattached femShep will have an unfortunate run-in with the exemplar of vengeance.
