Well, Liara did save Shepard.

Garrus went off to play Batman.

Usually it's customary to hug your friends after not seeing them for along time, regardless of whether they tried to retrieve your dead body or not after it got spaced lol...

But I understand not hugging Garrus because they were in the middle of a firefight.

I'm sure I'm biased cause I'm partial to Liara, but the whole hugging thing at Illium kind of suits her personality. Regardless of how you treated er in ME1, she's so much more of a sentimental type than any of the other squad mates, more mushygushy. They also had the comfort/privacy of her office, and she probably was reeeally glad to see that the effort she put into getting her body actually paid off.

Another thing that bothers me about Liara is that she seems to receive all the credit for saving Shepard. Miranda and TIM were at least as responsible for Shepard's resurrection, if not more so. However, if Liara does deserve sole credit for saving Shepard then she deserves credit for everything Project Lazarus did. Including creating a clone which tried to kill Shepard, Liara and the entire Normandy crew. Therefore, Liara bot saved Shepard and tried to kill Shepard. Now that's logic!

Personally I was never under the impression Liara got more credit for Shep's resurrection. It was emphasized many times throughout ME2 why TIM & co. gave everything they got to bring Shep back.

Liara can be mushygushy all she wants, but my Shepard never was. Not to mention that he was a douchebag to her in ME1, told her to keep her distance when she was being a creepy little stalker ****** and never talked to her again. Yet in that moment on Illium, all that didn't seem to matter.

Well, she is an asari and they seem to be the most touchy-feely among all the races.

That and what you said is probably true. Knowing your hard work paid is good. Seeing a friend after they were presumed dead and knowing that you were the one responsible for that... if that doesn't merit a hug, I don't know what does.

What you people don't understand is that the hug would have been all fine and dandy for someone who was friendly with her or at least on good terms, not someone who basically told her to **** off and never spoke to her again. It was just awkward and uncomfortable to watch, not to mention that it completely ignored the way you treated her before.

Yeah, because this is what matters. Not that you're sole survivor Shepard just goes: "Cerberus? Alrighty then"

Do you hate equally on Garrus? Cause I could've sworn my Turian hating Shepard was happy to see him in ME2.

And ME3.

And when I told him he couldn't join in ME1... he did so anyway.

@Ryriena Mac didn't write her Drew did in ME1 and Patrick Weekes (I think) in LOTSB).

On-topic its that people hate her, its that she has inconsistant character development and is focrced into certain plots just for the sake of having her in it.

Actually, he took over her character in number two if I'm not mistaken but I could be wrong

Right now we're talking about Liara and why people hate her.

But if you really must know, I didn't like it that Garrus was pushed on my Shepard either, but it was not as bad as Liara's constant pushing and shoving. Not to mention that you could kill Garrus in ME2.

My point is that you can only RP in as much as the story allows you to. You're railroaded everywhere and almost everyone is forced into the story.

Don't feel like recruiting a crazy person locked up in some prison in outer space? Cause, you know, you might not like criminals.

Well too bad, you have to anyway.

Wanna kick her off the ship after talking to her a bit? Cause, you know, you might nog like space station destroying, moon vandalizing condensations of crazy and could consider her a risk. Well too bad, you have to keep her on the ship.

Don't feel like flying around in a ship equipped with AI? (or maybe I should say.. an AI equipped with a ship :P) Cause you know, you might hate AI.

Well too bad, you have to anyway.

The what-the-crap hug took place before Shepard knew T'soni gave the body to Cerberus. My Shepard wanted to throw her back in the volcano on Therum and now, after being dead for 2 years, gets a hug from someone she doesn't care about. I have no say in the hug. After that hug, I had femshep go back to the ship, have her armor incinerated, took a shower and got a tetanus shot from Dr.Chakwas.

Hey watch it mate, that's logic you're talking. That's bound to get you nowhere fast around here.

Lol you can twist and turn it, laugh until you wet your undies and call it logic all you want, but the fact is, you can kill pretty much all the other squadmates or ignore them completely except for Liara.

The thing is that leads her into abusive relationships and thats not healthy. It's kind of like the character Bella from Twilight, whom sees Edward as her knight and shiny savior instead of the abuser. Teens are actually reading that crap and saying Edward is like the best thing ever no he took the engine out of her truck so she could not see her friends and watches her sleep at night in her bedroom. I mean really creepy ass **** to the point she thinks he's still her savior and even marries the abuser.

You can kill Liara. You have to work for it, but it can be done.

Though I have no idea how being able to kill someone makes things better. Besides, without Liara there's no ME2. Whether you like it or not.

It could've have easily been Miranda or Jacob that found our Shepard's bodies.

Do people hate Liara,or do they hate pointless threads on the forums created?

Personally, I Ilke what Bioware did with her in the the trilogy. Not my favorite character or love interest, but a solid character.

Its not that hard to get her killed if someone wants to. Just have to have your ems below 1900.

If T'soni wasn't around, I'm sure Cerberus would've got the body themselves.

Yeah, you're right. You can kill her at the very end of ME3. That's great! Not.

It makes things better in the sense that if you don't like that character you don't have to put up with them. And I don't care. Yeah, she saved Shepard and instead of having his/her body stuffed for her own sick pleasure she handed it to Cerberus. How noble. But I still don't have to like her. And like others have said, Cerberus could have easily found the body themselves. But you know, why not throw Liara in there for the hell of it.

You can't ressurect a body you don't have.

I'm not denying that Liara deserves much of the credit for Shepard's resurrection. I'm saying, whatever credit Liara does deserves for Shepard's resurrection is equivalent to the blame she deserves for Shepard's clone trying to kill everyone. After all, Liara was fully aware of Cerberus' unethical practices.

So you admit that, by extension, she also deserves credits for saving the entire galaxy? Since, you know, she recovered Shepard's body and that lead to defeat of the Reapers.

I think most of us can overlook that little incident with the clone.

As much as I hate the character, I don't agree with that. She has no way of knowing what will happen in the future at that point.
