Allestia Iallis is the asari on Noveria.
There's nothing wrong with that. But you called Liara fans out for having a different opinion, that we can't accept a "single flaw". If complaining about these things is fine, so is defending the character.

I called out some Liara fans for denying relatively obvious flaws/inconsistencies and that point seems to be reinforced when some of her fans simply argue for the sake of arguing or voice opinions as undeniable facts (i.e. her combat usefullness). Or of course when some of the more arrogant ones start proclaims of "canon romance" or "flawless/perfect character".

@Asari_Party: Being an information broker is harder and complex than it looks, someone can't just become a broker because they want to, having the experience and training in being a information broker is important in being one. As others have said its very competitive and rivals will do anything to stay on top of the competition and there can be no room for error and yet Liara manage to become one in two years there is no way some one can become a good information broker in two years with no past training or experience its just not believable.

There is one way to do it. Mary Sue power. I wonder if Liara gets a Magical Girl transformation with that

You should see her confrontation with Tali, if they're in a love triangle.

Isn't it endearing when a "friend" pries into the expenditures for a classified military project and your personal medical records in one go?

Fascinating. People have made these exact same accusations against the characters of Wrex and Mordin, more so the latter, even more than Liara, due in no small part to his contribution to a major arc in the story. Legion is arguably considered to be the most inconsistent, because its actions, to many, totally alter the nature of the entire geth race. Whether or not it has some interesting dialogue doesn't really matter.

I understand that this thread isn't about any of these characters, but when it comes to inconsistency, I don't consider Liara to be the worst offender in this respect. Jack is probably much more inconsistent , because a crazy loner biotic is suddenly a teacher ? C'mon. Sure, she can die and the whole thing can be avoided, but that's no excuse.

No no, all of that is completely fine. You heard the man, everyone else besides Liara was consistent.

There totally aren't different versions of Miranda floating around in ME2 and her resignation scene is brilliant.

What they did with Garrus was completely acceptable.

Ashley wasn't bungled at all in ME3.

Legion doesn't contradict himself over 10 minutes in ME2 let alone across games. Thankfully this means that people can finally stop complaining about any L'Etoile to Weekes changes with that character.

Nobody said they were experts, they were saying that being an information broker isn't as simple as it was depicted in the games, its probably more complicated then it looks, and for some one to become an expect information broker in two years with no past experience or training is unbelievable.

Becoming an information broker with no prior social skills would seem comparable to becoming a stockbroker in a similar timeframe with only an elementary understanding of math.

However, she is used to defending herself on remote digs—sites are often raided by privateers for artifacts—and in combat, she makes a formidable ally due to her near-complete focus on biotics.

One lonely Asari vs privateers. I think that qualifies as having combat experience and usefullness.

I'll concede her transition to information broker is improbable, though she was raised by her mother, the powerful and important Asari Matriach, and everybody in Asari society expected her to become just as important as Benezia (which was the reason she became an archaeologist). That will at least have given her some experience with the nastyness of high level politics.

And no matter the improbability, it doesn't bother me in the slightest, just like I'm not bothered with Legion's/the Geth's 360 on opinion of life, Wrex's transition from careful, intelligent Krogan to careless, brainless brute, Mordin's 720 flip, Jack's full-blown-crazy to caring teacher or all that kinda stuff.

**** happens, people change.

Given a lot of people employed in the city have no financial or economic training whatsoever I would say that's nothing unusual.
People can learn you know.

I think you got the wrong impression, when I meant unbelievable I was talking about how it makes no sense that someone manage to become a information broker with no experience or training in the field.

Hiring someone with the training and experience in their profession is preferable than hiring someone with no experience at all, that's how it works in real life and having experience is very helpful.

I do not find Liara's change from archaelogist to information broker difficult at all to believe, a lot can change in two years and people change the careers all the time. I think the haters are confusing unpracticed social skills with being stupid. Liara isn't stupid, no matter how much they dislike her.

Disliking Liara has nothing to do with it it more to do with the fact Liara has no experience/traning being a information broker at all and being one is most likely requires years of training and experience since (two years is not enough) its a competitive and very demanding job you can't just simply start being a information broker. There is simply no way someone can go from knowing nothing about being a information broker to becoming one of the best in a time span of two years.

She was raised by her single mother Benezia, one of the more important figures in Asari society. Liara was expected to follow into her mother's footsteps.

It's just impossible that she started the information/politics game as a blank slate.

The leap to SB is still huge, but it's not like Liara's a complete stranger to politics

Privateers are, by nature, random scavengers. The Attican Traverse is basically the Wild West of the galaxy, and she's defending herself against a bandit. She's basically a determined homesteader, not a soldier.

Wre was always a brainless brute, he was just a brainless brute without power.

Oh right, because the Liara bashers never voice opinions as undeniable facts, telling us that their headcanon is fact now because we can't prove it wrong, explaining that Liara shouldn't mind the invasion of her homeworld and a few million deaths because they say so, declaring the codex invalid because only their opinion matters.

I'm with you on the canon romance thing, but again, I have yet to see a Liara fan who thinks her character is flawless. But even if someone thinks Liara is perfect, what's wrong with that? You obviously have no problems with people who hate everything about her, want to kill her, think she is the worst character ever etc.

You think, but you don't know.

Again let me point you to this gif. Had she had any training or experience, she would never of hesitated in firing at Kai Leng when he was running towards her. Instead she stands there like the dumba** she is and flys on Kai Leng Airlines. Remember Mars? Kaidan/Ashley didn't hesistate when firing on robot Eva. That's because they had training. And yes they did end up seriously injured, but they still fired at robot Eva.

tumblr_m2sokzGZea1qbxq6qo1_250.gif

How many pirates did she face at any one time? If I go around a few neighborhoods and beat up a bunch of people in each area, does that qualify me to get in the boxing ring with a professional boxer?

Cutscene stupidity is unfortunately far too common. Adept Shepard failing to use her biotics despite them being perfect for a situation, the Thane/Kai Leng fight, etc.

Liara isn't the only offender here.
