Name: Tessa
Height: 5 foot 9 inches
Weight: I'd guess a solid 150 lbs.
Hair: Dark brown, with the occasional red highlight, if the sun hits it right. She keeps it relatively short with various braids-more to keep it out of her face, than for any sort of style.
Eyes: Grey
Age: She thinks she's around 24 or 25.
If you ask Tessa what her surname is, she’ll tell you she’s from Lothering. If pressed, she will make one up, usually just ridiculous enough to make the asker regret asking in the first place.
Tess is tallish for a woman and solid. She has never known a father or a sibling and the revolving door of “friends” her mother had in and out of their little hovel got old when she was pretty young, so she stopped hanging around the house early. She spent a lot of time as a child around the Chantry, initially because someone would always give her food, or a pat on the head, but eventually, because she saw it as a way out of Lothering.
As a teenager, Tessa thought about taking vows and becoming a Sister, but not for very long. One day as she was at her prayers, listening to the laybrothers recite the Chant, it occurred to her that the best way to both do the Maker’s work *and* get out of Lothering would be to join the Templars. She’d get shipped to some mage tower and never have to deal with this sad little village again.
That was the point she started poking at the templars around the Chantry to train her to fight. Eventually, she was persistent enough (or annoying enough) to be, if not welcome exactly, not surprising as an addition to the practice yard.
A year ago, though, she left Lothering as a sell-sword, rather than a templar and *that* is a question she won’t answer.
She will talk Chantry lore with you, though, and she still believes that she will eventually end up in the Order, one way or another.
She’s never seen a Dalish, but she’s seen her fair share of elves. She generally feels like she can relate in some way to the plight of the city elves, as she’s been relatively poor all her life. (It’s potentially a fairly racist sort of “I get where you’re coming from”.)
She believes in doing the right thing, but that’s also a pretty situational thing. She keeps her own council about things because trusting people is for suckers. She watches everything though. She’s slow to anger, although when she does, stay out of sword’s reach.
And about that. Her preference is to fight with a weapon that takes two hands and she fights with blind abandon. Tactics are great, before the fight. During the fight, though, just point her toward what needs to be made dead.
