Watching the Lead Them or Fall trailer again one specific part caught my eye: at around 0:50 the Inquisitor looks like he's sealing up a Fade rift as you do, only this time he falls to his knees and acts like it hurts him. I might be misinterpreting what's going on there but it got me thinking about what (if any) the affects of the Fade hand will be on our Inquisitor. I think it might be interesting to have the possibility of it having a negative affect, for it to somehow slowly weaken the Inquisitor as he or she is interacting with these rifts more and more? I think I would be a bit disappointing if there wasn't even an option for ill affects at all--as far as I know people of Thedas weren't meant to have glowing green hands of destiny let alone have a jolly stroll through the Fade to get it.

I think it would be a good way to make the hero less almighty this time around--the Warden had their nightmares but I never really felt that they were a big problem or hardship.

Would be interesting if it was actually severely taxing on the Inquisitor to close tears.

Especially when you consider what would happen to him/her when the main one got closed. Ultimate Sacrifice ending 2.0?

If they're okay with one of the potential endings making post-campaign play impossible.

Well, you're hunted because of the Fadebrand thing, but it's also why you are given the agency of a leader in the Inquisition. So there's some hardship there, and perhaps even the burden of command could be interpreted as another hardship. Que the Adam Jensen "I never asked for this" image macro.

It might be interesting if you had to sacrifice a "Little bit of yourself" Every time you used the Fademark, but I imagine there'd be a lot of whining about weakening the Player character. I know Mount&Blade Warband did something like this if you were captured during a siege where the enemy took massive losses. (They'd torture your character and cause a permanent -1Strength effect that could stack)

About that scene: if you look at the background, you can see a shadowy figure standing before the Veil Tear, possibly opening it with magic. The Inquisitor seems to be more pained as it expands.

I've never played M&B before but that sounds like a really cool idea, especially if what stat got taken from depended on class. Like Mages got -1 Magic every time or Rouges got -1 Dexterity. Of course, this would only work if there aren't a ton of rifts to close in the game, if that happened leveling up would be impossible. Plus it might be a really good character building exercise between the Inquisitor and the group--see who sticks around through thick and thin and who is only willing to follow a strong leader.

....If this doesn't end up being one of the possible endings I might have to write this idea down and base a fic around it in almost 3 months,

Fade hand sounds dirty.

EDIT: about M&B never lose a battle but it got something interesting which called single save.

you lost? can't reload... stay in prison and suffer.

or maybe it's like the Higlander Quickening   :) ...so it's not a good idea to close a rift near any windows, cars or streetlights
