Does anybody know, why such stupid limit? Is there any chance it will be cancelled for some time in the future?

EA support article: activation
Excerpt that answers your question and shows there's no need to worry:
What happens when I've reached the maximum number of machine launches?
- While EA's online activation solution will allow you to activate
your game on as many machines as you like, you can launch your game on
no more than five machines in any 24-hour period. - You will have to wait to launch your game on an additional machine
until 24-hours after you launched the first game during the previous
24-hour period.

You can find everything regarding the new activationsystem, first sported by DragonAge here:

That's quite interesting, but this means - you can play the game on 5 pc during some time period, then you need to wait some time and other pc machines can be used for playing anyway. Seems that it shoudn't be annoying in normal usage of game.
Unfortunatelly, this is completely different that explicite "you will be able to install the game 5 times " written in the faq.

Why do you want to install it more than 5 times?
Isn't that obvious? With PC you need sometimes to upgrade your hardware and reinstall operating system - which also means that most of the programs (or games) needs to be reinstalled as well. Eventually you can just uninstall the game to make more space on HDD for some other title. That quite usual, at least in my case.
According to fact, that I like to play my games more than once - it may happen, that some day I won't be able to use product I have paid for - which is completely unacceptable for me.

If they're using the same system as DA, I'd recommend changing the '5 installs' to '5 concurrently active installations', if they're not using the same system as DA, I dread the rage of an upset mob of ex-customers.

I agree that its your product that you have spent money on and you should be able to do what you want with it but please be realistic when it comes to reality, how many times do YOU really need to install/uninstall..........................

Limiting how many can play one the same account is fine. Actually, one, and only one, should be able to play a copy at a time. I support that greatly. My friends might be disappointed that they can never borrow my games, but I don't care; I bought them for my entertainment, not theirs. They can simply purchase them as well.
If any of my games ever tell me to purchase it again, because of some limit, I'm not going to hesitate with "stealing" it. (As I do not see it as stealing when I own it, no matter what they wrote with small letters at purchase) It's not like my physical games suddenly disintegrates after a number of installations. Why should my digital purchases then do so?

Too often I would say. Unfortunatelly I do not have any log with information of which game I have installed/uninstalled and when.
But I know I do it sometimes. And I know that I definitely don't want to be bothered with requirement of remember how many times did I install some game, because I spent money for a game to have fun, and such activation limits are not fun but just bothering.

NO, it is NOT enough.
When I'm done playing a game, I uninstall it. When I want to play it again, I reinstall it. My favourite game Half-life 2, has been reinstalled at least 10 times. A similar number with the episodes.
It's not simply about upgrading systems. I reformat my computer at least once a year. Back in the XP days, I reformatted almost every month to keep it at its best. But even when this isn't the case, as I said, I do uninstall games when I'm done playing them. This is simply because I will not allow a single program to sit on my computer unless it serves a purpose, to avoid the clutter of various programs to slow my computer.
I might be a special case. But I see no reason why I should be punished. Also, as I mentioned in a post above, this is not just about my ability to play the game NOW. I want to be able to play the game at my whim at any time in the future, be it a year or forty years from now. No exceptions. A physical copy allows me to do this, and I will settle for no less with digital copies.
If the limit if 5 copies within a short period of time, then fine. But if it ever inconveniences me, I demand it to be solved immediately, or I will bypass their stupid limitations.
By the way. This whole manic reformatting and strict cleaning of computers is not something I'm alone in doing. My friends that are either experienced in computers in general, or experienced in games at a competitive level, do this as well. Those of my friends that do not do this, contacts me once in a while, when I have to clean up their mess. I simply backup their stuff, and reinstall. It's a mystery to me how people can manage to destroy their computer so fast. What are they installing?!

While I don't like DRM in general, I don't think this system is one I'm going to complain about.
