My friend, I for one am soooooooo GLAD that they got it right for the PC. If they tried to accomodate consoles for the same type of game all we would have is a bull**** consolized experience. The PC market is saturated with bad console ports.
Tbh I'm glad that it's eventually console gamers that are getting the ****ty end of the stick.

I'm not speaking for ALL console gamers but as a demographic they like their games simple, uncomplicated and action oriented. Not to mention the fact that the PC has native mouse support and a possible 100 mappable buttons VS your console's 6-8 button gamepad.

It is sad that console gamers pay a lot more per game. £15 more in some cases. That fact alone almost completely neutralises the "PC's are more expensive" arguement. £200-300 for a console brand new, if you buy 1 game per month with a +£15 limit, thats £180 so we're already up around the £500 mark. Ok, still cheaper than a good PC but for that figure + less than half of it, you get so much more a PC.

Ok, so I'm off track, but the point is, I'm sorry your game experience turned out bad, but I'm so glad Bioware stayed true to their home fans, the PC guys.

dude, that's all so criminally ignorant i don't even know where to begin. First off, without Consoles there wouldn't be Dragon Age in the first place, period. To ridicule console players for paying more money and beeing straight out too dumb to play "real games" is so ****ed up, it lets me assume you're 12 years old. The PC Market is dead because 90% of the PC-Playerbase just plays pirated copys, so better be ****ing THANKFUL, that there are console versions, and better pray that this sells good despite the console versions beeing flawed, because if this doesn't sell on consloles you won't see a sequel.

Lol. We have a winner.
Did I say ALL console gamers are stupid? Did I even use the word stupid in my post? Get a grip man. Console games are generally simpler than the average PC game. Fact. Thats why companies play to MARKET DEMOGRAPHICS and build games based around them.
And if consoles didn't exist, there would just be more and more better PC games, that argument is moot.

Also, I think you need to spend some time in an English class.
Tool.

True to that Moriarty... Ordered on console thinking I would be nice lay out on the couch and game...  I really dont mind that they use the action wheels for commands but taking out the top down camera is going too far...

If I  knew I  would not have preordered the game for ps3.  Since Bioware started making games you could count on them making a quality product and they did, just not for the consoles.  I  can live with all the presentation and visual issues with the game.  But how can you release the game for the console and not have the top down camera view.  It is the essence of RPG  gaming to be able to pause and micromanage all my characters.  I went over to my buddies place and was playing on his PC  and the experience is totally different.  Not to say that it is a bad game but it feels like Bioware turned it into a action game on the consoles.  You can not see all the action around you and forget about being a wizard.  I  am VERY DISSAPOINTED with Bioware on this issue.  On top of that, I paid Ten dollars more for the PS3 version.  I  have played just about every game that Bioware produced since Baldurs Gate 1 and have been a loyal fan.   Who else feels jipped?  I paid more money for a lesser game.  I know the economy is bad and making games is a business but releasing the game just to cash in on the holiday sales is not fair to your customers.  Especially if your not telling your customers about it before you release the game.  When I  read about it in a review the day it comes out is a little late.

I am talking to you Bioware.  If you want to make it right, I  hope there will be a update that will fix this issue, but dont think it will be coming as it is a big issue to fix.  I cant say that I am never going to play another  game from Bioware anymore but dont expect another preorder from me.

i think you should direct your threats towards the ps3 customer service

Im not in any way a programmer nor know anything about programming video games. Anybody know how much extra time it would have taken to program in the topdown camera angle?

It's not a question of programming. The console versions did it include it early on. There are even videos of it. Apparently it was removed for performance reasons.

You started this by throwing name calling, thinly-vieled cuss-words and unsubstantiated claims. Then, when people reply, you call more names and dismiss others as idiotic babblers all the while. And you have the nerve to to assume other people are adolescents?

Wow, as said before everything you complained about was known well before release and you could have changed your pre-order. I love the PS3 version as well as the camera view. I believe the camera view and the interface was made well for the consoles by bioware, they have admitted it plays a little more action oriented than tactics and thats the way I prefer it. Sorry your so disgruntled by what Bioware unveiled to you before your purchase.

I don't recall being a racist arrogant ******. And he is not replying, he is just trying to harass me for not being a native speaker, thinking that this would count as some sort of argument, while at the same time sporting a very limited vocabulary himself ("Tool", haha, how very creative). "Intellectually outplayed", awesome joke indeed.

Quite frankly that's bull****.

Not everyone is a game/forum nerd... and you point him to a 3rd party site? One for the game industry no less?

Some people just show up at the store and buy the game, not make a research project out of it.

Get a grip BioWare.

I  guess it is a difference of opinion, but if I wanted to play a action game, I  would have went out and bought Uncharted 2.  When Bioware says sucessor to Baldurs 2 you would come to expect a certain level of gameplay with a game.  I will be saying it is my fault for preordering the game months back expecting something from Bioware for a long time, not realizing the problem with the game until I receive it in the mail.

Your post would make sense if the OP did not mention that he Pre-Ordered the PS3 version which means he did not just "show up" to purchase the game, he thought about the decision ahead of time which meant he also had plenty of time to research the differences and make an intelligent decision, not bash Bioware about a PS3 version that is perfectly suited for playing on a console without a keyboard and mouse interface. I certainly am going to know the bare minimum when I purchase a game on release day that I have been waiting for, Are we sure the OP did not mean to purchase Modern Warfare 2 next week and purchased Dragon Age by mistake?

It is a succesor to Baldurs Gate 2.....on Baldurs Gates Main Platform, the pc.  If you want to play the version that is the succesor buy it on the platform that it was "meant to be played first" as the PC guys would say. It plays very similar to Baldurs Gate there.

I think you need to revise your own minds definition of the word "racist".
Funny though, how once a fool get's put down by a better argument and, no doubt, a better mind, he suddenly thinks he has the brains to start to get witty.
The truth is I could care less whether or not you're a native English speaker, your original post speaks volumes about your English ability and general manner.

You open into an argument with insults and false facts, then call people on stuff they haven't even said. Maybe your reading needs work too?

Anyway, for the record, i reiterate ; Tool.

Have a nice day. :wizard:

Just a friendly rebuttle to the claim that no game site had ever mentioned it. But no, there is/was no mention of the lack of tactical camera on the consoles on the main Dragon Age site. I will see what I can do to try and rectify this.

I'm pleastantly suprised with the console controls. I'm a big Newverwinter Nights fan and was at first very concearned with how the console would work, but after playing as a healer on hard, I am very pleased without how the controls work. I rarely pause the game unless i need switch characters and pop potions in a jam or to select a spell that isn't part of my assigned buttons. I don't miss the bird's eye veiw at all. The behavior selection works incredibly well and i rarely have to control other character unless i want them to perform a powerful spell or pop a potion.

All i can recomend is trash your preconceptions of what a RPG should be and give it a chance. Otherwise your screwd.

I hate this disscutions, i mean, it's pathetic to say that console players are something worse than a bug, just only because they like to play games on a console, and think that games on PC are ment to be played only by gods, stop now please!

Yeah, I read about the lack of overhead camera on the consoles. I'm not disappointed with my copy for the 360 though. I was a hardcore PC gamer for many years, and my current PC is over the recommended requirements, but I rarely use it since switching to Mac.

The 360/PS3 version is fun so far. I'm more of a casual gamer nowadays, so I really don't care if I'm missing out on some uber tactical advantage. Whatever. I just want to experience a cool story and kill lots of monsters.

And I could care less about user generated content. I want to play Bioware's game the way they intended. Felt the same way about Oblivion (bought that for the 360 as well). I'll play through the game, download the official content... and when I've done it all I'll find a new game to play. I just don't feel the need to dwell on the same game like some people do. Not that there's anything wrong with that, of course.

In other words... "Diif'rent strokes for diff'rent folks."

It is always hilarious when folks whine and complain about a game after something about it disappoints them. Man up and deal with it or quit playing. Not like this info wasnt common knowledge as was mentioned. You had plenty of time to cancel your order. Blame lies with you.

This is not true. I own every gaming platform so I can have a choice. I chose PS3 over my PC because thats the version I wanted. I agree that most console users HATE pc players and vise versa in general but there are a select few of us that enjoy every single platform out there. I think Bioware did a great job on the console version as well as the PC and although they offer different experiences, they are both great versions of the game.

Ive been playing the PC version while my wife is playing the Ps3 Version, to be honest both are equally playable with alot of control differences. The only gripe we have with the Ps3 version is that its not intuitive in the controls nor is it really explained well. Infact the instructions for the game came with PC instructions lol.

That being said, we are both enjoying our versions. Not only is the PS3 graphically good and quick to load everything, but its interface is actually faster for controlling party member skills in real time combat as opposed to tactic mode then the PC is.

Both are good, its a great game with a great story and I think its been modded well for the consol once you take the time to get used to its control features (by trial and error unfortunately)

Just my 2 cents
