Your character doesn't really have time to deal with it. Neither does the story, really. Also, my character would totally take precautions.
Unless the children are important to the plot, it's best to leave them in headcannon. That way, you don't step on the toes of people who dislike children. Although, 3 years of living with Merril in the same house, and no kid? Gotta wonder why.
Don't put children in cannon!

Kids are stupid. Whenever my Sims got knocked up I usually got bored of the baby and then deleted it. I don't see the appeal personally. And in Harvest Moon the kid was useless and took forever to water the stupid crops when I could do it in 1 minute. Unless the DA baby can be my pack mule and carry all of my items and kill stuff like my husbando in Skyrim I really don't want my Inquisitor reproducing unless it has some use. :/
this post is in no way a reflection of my irl parenting skills
This post really made me laugh.

Conceiving children isn't exactly a forgone conclusion of sexual intercourse. The odds are actually stacked against conception for a lot of biologically necessary reasons.
In the case of Female Wardens/Companions, it's actually also possible their bodies haven't stored enough fat to conceive. Walking hundreds of miles a month, swinging massive pieces of steel while wearing twenty kilograms of equipment, all while eating Tallow and stale bread on the road. Doesn't exactly put the body into "We're ready to double our calorific need" mode.
There I go over-thinking things again.

In DA2 it could have been possible for female Hawke to have a child between act2 and act3. But I'm not sure how that could have been made so that those who don't want their Hawke to get pregnant wouldn't became pregnant and those who would have wanted to became pregnant would have become pregnant. I was just thinking your PC and Fenris because they only spend one night together and It would have been interesting if there would have been possibility for Hawke to get pregnant. Maybe there could have been question in the end of act 2 that would you like that Hawke became pregnant? Yes no? ![]()

Only about half the romances are heterosexual. Of the remaining, slightly over half involve at least one Warden (Hero of Ferelden, Alistair, Anders), who do not conceive "easily". Isabela must practice birth control (when necessary). Sebastian is chaste.
The only two pairs in question are FemHawke-Fenris and BroHawke-Merrill. Both elves. The former may suffer from lyrium toxicity (yes, I just made that up). As a First, the latter probably has better-than-average control/insight over her fertility.
So given low odds for other more general factors, not a surprise.

Wardens don't tend to have kids. That's explained in the first one, so that takes care of the hero of Ferelden. As for Hawke, who knows what she/he might have gotten up to with his/her LI after leaving Kirkewall, but for whatever reason (story service), it obviously didn't happen while they were there.

Just out of pure curiosity, why is it that only Morrigan's romance produces a child? Why not other romances in DA?
Morrigan's romance isn't required at all for her to get that child, and Idk if it can be done with Loghain or Alistair while you're in a romance with her. has anyone tried that ever?

Thank goodness. My Wardens, Hawkes, and I'm guessing Inquisitors, are too freaking busy to worry about raising kids.
You know, saving the world? Busy?

Have you heard the children in DAO? Why in the blue hell would you want more children like that? Great i just got a mental image of the OGB sounding like Oren. Wonder if he will slay the Warden his sword of Truthiness?

I had heard that you could get in her tent the first night in camp, so I went to camp from Flemeth's hut, instead of going on to Lothering, and sure enough, "It's cold in my tent, all alone". "Get a thicker blanket"... I refused the DR, and got a slide telling me she was pregnant.

Just cause morning after pills don't exist in the normal sense, doesn't mean there aren't herbs and other things back in medieval times to pervent such.

Yeah, I mean, the Dragon Age games are power fantasies after all.
Power running, power lifting, power sleeping, power dating, power eating, power laughing, power spawning, babies! You'll have so many babies! FOUR HUNDRED BABIES.
Dear lord, who let Eirene near a power thirst commercial?

But she still asked for the dark ritual?? can you/does she ask for Loghain or Alistair to help her with that? or if you don't want to do it she just doesn't do it at all?
and I know that you can get her to stare/sleep/not_sleep at the first tent and that level of "progression" is why I got scared of playing as a male warden.
but anyway can you "complete" or even start her romance if you don't sleep with her at all?
