In DAO (and I think in DAI) would not make much sense having a pregnant protagonist or LI, since, you know, there is a world to save. But in DA2, with the years of fade to black where nothing seems to happen to Hawke, well, a baby would have at least make sense of the time s/he did nothing.  :P

joke aside, in DA2 the events happen in years, and not in a time of war (in fact, there are just two mayor battles and a spedition, but there is not impending conflict during the fade to black from act 2 to 3) So a chance (I always think those kind of thing, children and marriage should be choise, and not mandatory events.) of create a family could have been presented. (with the "right" LI. the ones that became a stable relationship, and live at the mansion with Hawke)

even if...with the "luck" that seems to be a gentical trait of the Hawkes, better no reproduction, eh?

but I would not mind a dialogue where the theme of children and marriage came out. like in NWN2, there was a dialogue with the companions about having children in the future. (after a quest about finding two kids, I think...can't remember well)

But she still asked for the dark ritual?? can you/does she ask for Loghain or Alistair to help her with that? or if you don't want to do it she just doesn't do it at all?

and I know that you can get her to stare/sleep/not_sleep at the first tent and that level of "progression" is why I got scared of playing as a male warden.
but anyway can you "complete" or even start her romance if you don't sleep with her at all?

She will still ask for the DR. Off the top of my head, I don't recall if she'll "settle" in the case of a romanced Warden, but I'm not sure any of the romances can ever be "complete" unless one or the other dies. In that game, Loghain took the killing blow, but Morrigan was already gone, since I had refused the DR, so I guess, in that sense, the romance was completed.

It would either have to be a feature they go all the way on meaning the child its self would have to be his or her own character, or it would just be a generic kid that is for the most part irrelevant.

The two instances in Dragon Age have both gone the irrelevant route (dwarf noble and dark child). I think children will be always relegated to vague epilogue slides / non story dialogue that is mentioned sparsely. Children are a cool mechanic and one I would certainty like to play, but the only BioWare game I think it could of been done in is Dragon Age 2, but with how shitty of a place Kirkwall is to live, I couldn't of justified keeping my kid there unless I was okay with being a terrible parent.

Cos Oghren eats babies.

Seriously, who the hell cares? Sure they MIGHT add points in which allow your character to develop, but in the end, romances are a side thing, so they'll be treated with less care than almost everything else resulting in a half-assed consequence that will probably cost you two sovereigns a second just to feed it. They'll be as useless as marriage is in Skyrim.

Unless offspring are relevant to the main plot, or play a major part in it (which perhaps the OGB will be) I don't see how this will lead to anything but the BSN blowing up for the 50th time this last ten minutes.

Unless the child is going to play some major role in the story (like the OGB), there would be no reason for it.

It would be a fun aspect of the game, and a really nice way to set up the protagonist for the next game as well.  You get married and have the child at some point in the game, select the gender and class, and then you could spend time in the game training him or her at whatever class you selected for them.  Then when the next game rolls around you import the child's status and you get a bit of a stat bonus for your character, for having grown up with good parenting and training.  It would make for both a fun little mini-game in the current game, and a really cool way to play out the results of that in the next game, by having a slightly better than normal character.  That's in addition to the fact that it would obviously make the romance even cooler, so it's nothing but a win-win scenario, I'm all for it!

That sounds like a Sims game.

It's funny cause I always considered the OGB to be just a device to make Morrigan sound creepy and alien. Now that I see this thread I don't know what to think. I guess that DAO time frame wouldn't even allow for something like that. The Warden keeps very busy even after the blight. Hawke would be a good candidate for a parent, after all there are these completely pointless 3 year breaks.

The second break would be a good time for a child in theory. He is the champion, he is established as one of the most powerful figures in the city so it's as good a time as any. But DA2 doesn't have any real character development for Hawke so adding a child to that would be really out of place. On the other hand, it would give him something to fight for instead of being a glorified errand boy.

Err, maybe they used condoms?

I set myself up for this one. But do they exist in Thedas?

Thank goodness. My Wardens, Hawkes, and I'm guessing Inquisitors, are too freaking busy to worry about raising kids.

You know, saving the world? Busy?

But you gotta be prepared for the unexpected

I'm saying in the end, like after you completed the game with a romance, you get a slide with the LI pregnant since the character ceases to become ours unless of course DLC or expanions but even then you could have it. I'm just saying, it's not like I'm saying it's a big deal, just wondering.

But I don't want the game to wreck my romance by introducing children.

Just out of pure curiosity, why is it that only Morrigan's romance produces a child? Why not other romances in DA?

Because all Grey Wardens are assigned +7 condoms after initiation.

i think if they did introduce it, it would be related to an epilogue slide.  I mean the romances for bioware's games arent completed till near end game anyway, so who's to say they cant have children later after the events of the game are over, and because you don't see it until an epilogue slide it wont "wreck your romance."

Would have liked to see my warden and leliana's kid, as well as my hawke and merrill's kid or at least a nod in the epilogues

Kids would wreck my romance, period. I don't want them IRL, and I certainly wouldn't want them in-game. I think a "btw you're straight so now kids!" is not really the way to go.

In reality none of the female characters have reached puberty yet, that's why.
