An interesting publication came out: http://whatifgaming....ed-a-few-things . The article itself is about about The Division game but touching subject concerning  every modern game in development..

The Division Developer Insider: “We Already Downgraded A Few Things”

"... Today, I have the ultimate displeasure to inform the public that apparently the E3 demo of The Division was running on a PC and will be downgraded overall. Developers often overshoot for the moon and end up delivering next to nothing in terms of the visual garbage that the final retail copies end up becoming (Far Cry 3, Watch Dogs, Dark Souls II in comparison to their non-downgraded counterparts).
....
We really loved the reception to the demo we showed on the PC version at E3. Currently as it stands, there is definitely a lot of push coming from publishers to not make the experience so different on consoles as to alienate people into thinking that next generation is not as powerful as PC.
...
UPDATED 2nd Response from The Division Developer: Truth be told in regards to your question that while ‘Yes’ the lead platform is the PC, we simply cannot have such a big gap.[between PC and next generation consoles] "

Not asking for console\PC war, just out of curiosity would like to know if the graphical quality for DAI remains the same as we saw it on the promotional videos on E3 or should we expect downgrading as well?

P.S. Just for the record - already pre-ordered Deluxe Edition and not going to cancel it, no matter what.

This happens with pretty much every console game ever, it's just been getting more attention lately, after the Watchdogs thing.

Funny that you should mention Watch_Dogs, which was apparently downgraded intentionally, and not because PCs couldn't handle it. There's a mod out there that restores the PC version to its E3 2012 glory.  Now one wonders why the downgrade happened in the first place.

Spoiler

Not looking for a war either.

As far as DA:I goes, I wouldn't worry too much if BF4, which also runs on Frostbite 3, is anything to go by. Frostbite 3 scales well on different hardware and offers pretty damn good performance. I'm confident the finished product will look as good as the previews.

Yes, but they were sleezy about it.  At least "The Divison" had the integrity to admit they had a personal stake in making sure the "next gen" consoles aren't viewed as already antiquated crap the first year they are out.

Let me guess? You are a PC-player right?

If you're getting the game on PS4 or Xbox One, I'm pretty sure it's going to be the same as the PC version maxed out (maybe with less AA along with some other effects).

And with that said, I don't see this thread going anywhere.

A PC has too many variables and depends on how much you are willing to spend If they want to show the the console over a PC , they only need to show the game on a PC worth £350 and problem solved. :D

DA:I should not have been running on PC hardware at E3 imo. No excuse for a game that is due out in three months not to be seen on the hardware it is intended for.

Why ? It raises a very good point. Although perhaps not the one intended by the OP.

They wanted to show edited footage of the game running at the highest possible fidelity, and that's fine for a demo.  Purposely gutting the PC version, because console publishers paid you to, not so much.  Or at least that is the sort of **** that makes PC gamers not a such huge fan of the console toys.

It's actually a worse thing for console owners since it gives a misleading impression of the game.

it would be like saying - I have a Ferrari, but because there's normal folk out there that drive budget car. I am going to pretend my car can't go faster than their vehicle. When somebody invest a lot of money into superior quality. They expect a return of their investement. That why NVIDIA etc are pushing stuff that only their video card can do. That why they experiment. What about we downgrade PS4 game to PS3 quality. Why are people excited about a new console ? There's a lot of hypocrisy I think.  I don't mind bad graphic. What I mind is my 700 $ video card can't play game higher quality than a 300 $ console because eh ..  It's not fair !

In the end it might hinder a lot of thing that might affect game on console.

THis bullshit sucks and if it's true  big corporation and publisher are blocking dev and progress. Than **** em . Greedy pig with inferiorty complex !

Imagine that

Dev : Wow that look cool We could add this for those with good video card !

Publisher : No No No !! It's not fair for the console gamer !! Don't ( actually it's .. No don't it's not fair for our pocket !! We need more people purchasing our console!)

Seriously I doubt that console gamer care. It's big corp care only about the cheez.

It should also be noted that only a very small % of PCs can run at that level. It's not all because of consoles. That's one of the reasons I quit PC gaming.

I see your point, but in the case of DA:I, you should be mostly fine. If I remember correctly, the PS4 version of Battlefield 4 runs in all "High" setting, which is so close to Ultra that you'd see the difference only on a HD video when you knew what to look for.

When games go across platform from PC to consoles, the PC versions tend to always look better.

As someone who doesn't really care about every graphical detail, it's not a huge deal to me, although full disclosure I do play on PC. My concern for PC is being able to play on at least somewhat high settings and have the game PERFORM. No lag or stuttering. If that means I need to turn it down to a somewhat lower setting I'm okay, I just want the thing to run and not look like Morrowind.

Not sure why people even fight about this stuff. As long as the game is not unbearably ugly and is running okay what's the problem? I'm sure it will still look great on Xbone and PS4

I don't care, I just hope I can run it. Also, I don't understand why everyone is obsessed with graphics. Do the graphics entertain you? No, the overall experience entertains you. Did watchdogs suddenly become the game everyone was so hyped about when players found the E3 demo graphics and unlocked them? No. Players limit themselves if graphics is the only thing they look for when choosing games to play.

This. The graphics were not my main issue with Watchdogs, haha

'Visual garbage'?

'Deliver next to nothing'?

Whatever idiot wrote this should take a few classes on physics and computer engineering. Contrary to what this clown apparently thinks, it's not possible to simulate reality with 500 Megs of RAM. This sounds like it was written by a 10 year convinced a game console is a magic box.
