How much time has passed?

Now I know the 2nd game was supposed to take place over the course of ten years but how much time has passed from the 2nd game to the third? (Or more importantly, the 2nd game to the events of the interview at the beginning of the 2nd game) Clearly the Veil has already been torn at the beginning of DA2 right? So is it a few years after Hawke disappeared or a few months?

Anyone confirm or want to speculate?  For my head canon I'm hoping it's been a few years but that's just me.

DAI start a few weeks after the Cassandra/Leliana cutscene at the end of DA2: the time to get from Kirkwall to were DAI start. This mean DAI start somewhere in 9:40.

The Mage Templar issue at kirkwall ended at 9:37, Cassandra interrogates Varric 9:40, circle of magi disbands that same year, so it's more than months. Up to 3 years or so?

Wait. DAII ends in 9:37. It took three years for cassandra to find Varric ? Am I right ?

You are correct. Act 3 was in 9:37, the interrogation was in 9:40.

Ugh, I always thought that Cassandra found Varric a few months after the events in act III.

Don't forget Varric was having adventures with Isabela and Alistair in 9:38.(See the comics) That could've taken a while.

It didn't took her 3 years to find him. DA2 ends in 9:37 (the boss fights), but Cassandra left for Kirkwall in 9:40 at the demand of the Divine (official DAI website timeline).

I think the most logical thing to take out of that is that the Divine wanted Hawke at the peace conference.

That makes sense considering Cassandra explains to Varric at the end that Hawke could serve as a voice of reason to the side they sided with.

There's a tweet that says that it's pretty much the time it took to travel to the conference.

I'm guessing that if the Champion of Kirkwall sided with the templars, then Divine Justinia V was hoping to bring the templars to the peace table? From what little was revealed, they don't seem to be attending the meeting in Ferelden.

DAI takes place a few months after DA2's ending. Laidlaw and Darrah said it will take Cassandra, Leliana and Varric a few months to get from Kirkwall to the Frostback mountains.

Alright and that is ten years after the Blight right? So when they said that the story of Dragon Age 2 spanned 10 years, it actually only spanned 7? Sorry I haven't played the second one in a long time. I love Origins but DA2 wasn't my favorite.

Hawke's story only spanned 7 years, but the interrogation is in 9:40, so the entire game content does span 10 years.

So it's 10 years after the beginning of DAO?  So the Warden is about 35, then, as is Hawke?  (Assuming he/she was about 25 when recruited.)

Wonder if they end up running late, which ends up saving their lives...

That's my guess. There doesn't seem to be any good reason for Cassandra and Leliana not to be at the conference, so I'm guessing something delayed them and prevented them from being killed. I'm also curious about why Vivienne wasn't there, since she's a senior mage and a supporter of the Circle system. (Was this all part of someone's plan? I guess we'll find out in October ...)

It's been a few months since Varric was interrogated by Cassandra, so three years after the mage rebellion in Kirkwall.
