Sovereign and Irenicus were both swell. Imma go with Irenicus. Loghain had great potential and deserves a honorable mention.  Just that it would have been important to understand a villain such as him. " I wish best for the realm. Alas, I do bad things because game needs villain." Fucked him up.

I'll vote Sovereign. He was Mysterious and incredibly intimidating in ME1. Of course, post ME3 he's significantly less so.

No Archdemon from Origins?

I don't think there would be much point in adding the Archdemon. It didn't really have much to say or do (leading the darkspawn horde excluded) except provide the character with a final boss battle. Though then again.. if Harbinger is on here, I suppose the Archdemon should be.

I went with Sun Li. I normally greatly dislike cut scene defeats but when he pulled a fast one I didn't feel the usual annoyance he had spent years laying that trap for just the right moment. He was your teacher after all. I did feel that a closed fist character got a little more warning then an open palm though the open palm was more open to criticism.

I'm torn. Illusive Man was pretty damn cool in ME2.. not as much in ME3, but he had his moments. I loved Loghain as well.

I guess I liked that these two guys were all too human. Relatively normal, with realistic concerns... just twisted.

Go Sun Li!  *cheers*

...second place is Loghain?  I did like him as a character, but I didn't find him a compelling antagonist.  My Warden never felt afraid of him and sassed his followers at every opportunity.

My vote's in for Irenicus.  The voice-acting, the cold, clinical sadism and seething rage, the way that even, as your entire story hinges on him, you are really incidental to his plans and plot once your soul is taken, that you have to chase him through the sea, through the underdark and through the Abyss itself to defeat him....he'll always be, in my eyes, a top tier villain.

Irenicus reminds me a bit of Raistlin Majere from the Dragonlance books. They were both wizards and they both tried to become a god. David Warner's acting really made Irenicus a great character though. So it's pretty much because of him that Joneleth got my vote.

Sun Li is a close second. I know many suspected what he would do pretty early (I didn't), but if you put yourself in the spirit monk's perspective it probably wouldn't have been that obvious. Having been your mentor for 20 years and the closest to what was regarded as a father for the character... that probably makes it harder to see it coming.

Was a bit disappointed in Loghain. Being described as a cold blooded and a good tactictian in The Stolen Throne it felt out of character for him to jump from one irrational mistake to another... felt like he was just behaving like a grumpy old man.

Seems like MDK 2 is a forgotten game here. Played it but never finished it. Apparently Greg Zeschuk himself did a fair bit of acting in that game. That's just great from his part.

Master Li for spoiler reasons, though I see why people are voting for Loghain, especially if you've read the books.  Still, what Master Li does takes the cake, it's literally what Loghain does on evil crack.

Spoiler

Plus I think he'd have way more votes if the people in this forum had actually played the game.  If you look at the voting, 50% of the people who played the game thought he was the most evil, that's more than any of the other categories percentage wise.  That's not even taking into account that some of those people who checked the JE box might not have finished it or were just checking all the boxes.

has to be sun li out of all the bioware games i have played his level of planning is unchallenged. How he manipulates everyone and what he he does to the player character is more personal and evil than the rest

Its a tie for me with Sun Li and Saren..  Sun Li because he was the perfect deconstruction of the wise master whose greatest student was an orphan he raised who saves him and Saren because he was the best example I have seen of the antihero who thought he was the hero of the story who would do whatever he thought was right for the common good.
