I know there are people who hate the comparison, but CD Project Red is doing a lot better on hair animations, not that hair animations really matter per say... but it seems they are going into the next gen with either a better grasp on technology, greater development skill, a greater desire to fine tune the small details, or some combination thereof.
Does anyone know if the LONG HAIR problem has been fixed?

although I was very impressed with what CD project Red showed (definately with animations), I don't think we should compare it to dragon age on everything.
First of all, DAI is cross gen, witcher is next gen. So they are restricted in some ways.
Second, Hair physics is good and all, but as previously mentioned, it gobbles up processing power like a madman.
Thirdly, Geralt is a lot less customizable than DAI's characters. So clipping with armor is less of an issue to make it look good. As opposed to the trillions of armors there (supposedly) are going to be in DAI.
And lastly, I'd rather have the power for more beautiful environments and worlds than for a small character detail.

Yup, but they're aiming at next-gen and PC. DA:I also has to run on 360 and PS3. Also, there's only one character you can modify somewhat, and that's Geralt.
Having said that, I would have preferred long hair, but as I have the impression they're juggling a lot of balls for DA:I, I'm willing to let it slide.

Thing is the better the effects get , the more you notice the little details and the more offputting that becomes.

Why don't you people learn how to specifically code long hair and then ask Bioware for a job if you are that bothered by it? lol

True but still makes me laugh that people get upset over bad hair or not getting long hair.

It looks like it is swimming rather than running with the hair undulations.
I've not been impressed with the nVidia hair tech thus far, every time I see it it clips like crazy. It looks about as realistic as ragdoll to me, but without the added hilarity.

Oh please. Look at the wolf on the first few frames and then the one at 20 seconds. You can't seriously think the first one looks better.
I think the fur looks realistic for a dog that's running, obviously without a backdrop the effect seems a bit much. But whatever, the worst you could say is that needs a little tweaking, not that it's worse than no fur and just a flat texture.

@Mr. Homebody
DAI is not a next gen game considering the game also still comes out on last gen. And long hair has little to nothing to do with next gen anyway. Bioware just doesn't like longer hair because it clips too much. I honestly can't say I like their stance regarding longer hair but it is what it is and I just can't see it changing any time soon.

Frostbite is partnered with AMD so no nvidia tech on DAI
Doesn't AMD have Tress FX? Not as well optimized as the fur tech yet, but I'm sure it could be!

Just when you think obsession with pretty graphics can't possibly get any worse, it does. Now we're literally splitting hairs. Sigh.
Dude, if you don't think graphics are at all important, then why:
1. Are you in this thread? Ignore it and similar graphics related threads and you'll be a happier person.
2. Aren't you busy playing text adventure games?

Give me a head with hair, long beautiful hair
Shining, gleaming, streaming, flaxen, waxen
Give me it down to there, hair!, shoulder length or longer
Oh say can you see, my eyes if you can my hairs too short

Then what was your point? You Seem pretty dismissive of any discussion having to do with graphics, and not just in this thread.
You literally spent time posting how it was silly to discuss this, instead of contributing to the thread in some meaningful way. That's how much you appear to dislike these discussions.

Considering the entire Witcher discussion here is off-topic, I wouldn't jump down someone's throat about not contributing.

I liked it when it was furred the best. The simulation gives it shampoo ad hair physics.
The nVidia hair thing is just jarring to me. Hopefully they'll improve it soon though.

But CD Projeckt makes custom models for their characters, without giving players any character creation tools whatsoever. So not only do they have to make less possible types of hair, but they know exactly what model each character has, and they can design each model individually instead of using their CC.

We have next generation consoles and still no long hairs? This is actually very disappointing. Every companion in DA:I seems to be shorthaired or bald. This is not the problem for male characters but I would like to see longhaired women in this universe.Well, I will have to deal with it. Next generation consoles are not as much "next generation" as I assumed. Baldquisition probably will have to face the danger without the support of longhaired esthetic values.
At least the Baldquisition won't have to be scared of being grabbed by their hair.
