Yeah, all the hair options for females in DA2...what were they thinking? Bowl cut after bowl cut with some god awful bangs... Sure there were a few ok styles - bearable styles I should say, but...gawwd...some of them were just hideous. I'd rather my character be bald. I don't necessarily care about movement as long as they fix the look.

Yeah ew and ME3 was even worse for player hairstyles. Every bun and ponytail (which was 90% of the styles) was like elongated from the head and made it look like she either stuffed socks in there or had a majorly deformed skull. It was a huge stepdown from ME2 or even ME1 :? I have no idea why hair seems to be BioWare's kryptonite!

I've always been jealous of FFXIII's hair mechanics, because it had long hair that never clipped, and bounced off of any gear that you were wearing.

But its rare to find a system like that.

Square has devoted considerable resources to the hair thing over the years.  Sadly, in the FF franchise, they seem to have lost sight of the little things like "having a story that makes sense," or "games that are enjoyable."  I'm hoping 15 will be a return to more old school stories, and less linearity, but I won't hold my breath.

How long do people want it exactly?

I, for one, simply want at least shoulder length. The more technology progresses it seems the shorter the hairdos get in Bioware games (especially in character creation).

Fantasy-Braids001.jpg?81f9ad

And something like this for my human female...

women%20flowers%20long%20hair%20fantasy%

Besides it's a fantasy game so can we have some real fantasy hairstyles...

I dont mind clipping at all, I just want to use long hair just this once or at least hair that is shoulder length

It's not about clipping, it's about processing power.

Hair is ridiculous about it.

It really doensn't have to be that long. I wold be fine with a hair lenght like Triss from Witcher .It looks good and I don't think there would be any clipping iussue with this lenght.

The hairstyles of females in Dragon Age I on the other hand:

sera: looks like luke from star wars. (short hair)

cassandra: barely any hair

vivienne: no hair shown

scribe girl; no hair shown

leliana: could look good but i doubt we will see her without her hood (barely any hair shown)

celene: I hope the concept art, where she is shown with short hair isn't legit. Can anybody imagine the empress of orleas with short hair?

morrigan: the only female i have seen so far with decent looking hair (not short or hided)

Does any body else think Coles hair looks like early xbox 360 graphics? It doesn't look good....at all.

I think they're trying to make Cole's hair dead and uncared for- mission accomplished.

+It's really only a picture, so we don't know for sure, and the game is still in "alpha"

Story, gameplay, and or hair/customization.... Hmmm I will take the first two over the last any day. I think it is funny that I bet at least some peeps complaining about hairstyles will have helmets/hats (we can't forget the sex hat can we?)/hoods on for a good portion of the game. Let's complain about it when we actually know for sure instead of just jumping the gun. Wait this is bsn.. Never mind.

Yes, he is like hybrid corpse/spirit/zombie thing. He is like if a zombie actually grew and aged over time.

Doesn't Dragon's Dogma do this on last gen without any trouble? Even with a character creator?

I'm not sure what you're talking about unless you are referring to TressFX type of hai, the most recentt example of hair that made use of this power was Lara's hair in Tomb Raider, where it used TressFX to have the hair show individual strands and had them moving and interacting with things, this was processor heavy but even then many newer computers can handle it.

However you can still have older physics based hair that doesn't take nearly as much power to do as TressFX or something as detailed, games did this over 10+ years ago with much much less cpu or gpu power.

The hair like in DA:O/DA2 and most games (IE non-physics based) doesn't really take any real power to do.

Yeah, I'd even take the Witcher's lifelike short hairstyles over a BioWare dead-looking long one. I don't care about the length at this point, I care about it looking good. Judging from Cole though, that is very, very unlikely.

As for everyone saying "that's alpha-Cole", well, yes, but David Gaider has mentioned that everything involved with releasing a character means that what comes out is of close-to-final quality. Screenshots are approved and reapproved and all that. So my hope's not up.

Mass Effect 3's hair was just ridiculous. There was the weird skull thing, and the quality was all over the map. Kaidan's specifically looked like it was taken from Knights of the Old Republic.

All in all, I have no hopes for DA:I being better in terms of hair, but I do hope that gets rectified in future installments. (I remember seeing the gray models of the inquisitor's first three races and hoping it would turn out like that, but that seems unlikely).

i was gonna write are they not meant to have short hair but only the rich and powerful were allowed long hair due to their station but then I remembered that's the sword of truth series lol
every other game can work out long hair they should too .
maybe like hats if it's clipping on an armor then the hair should change to an updo automatically or something along those lines

Well, wether you're a mage, a rogue or a warrior, long hair is pretty much the worst thing to have in combat.

Dragon Age: Inquisition. Practicality hooooooo!

I will only truly identify with my 6 foot 5 qunari mage Inquisitor when she possesses long, luscious golden curls like myself.

Down to the mid back at least for straight/wavy hair, like Dragon's Dogma. Decent fros, curls, and bushy for different characters, and contextual alternate long hair up dos for whenever it's necessary. I'd rather see them get some effective basic long hair physics than a thousand slightly different short dos. That'd cover the basics. If I had just a few decent long hair options, very few characters would ever have short hair. Because it's usually boring :P :) ,reminds me of conservative social rules and board rooms. Ook :pinched:   ..usually. I don't play boring people. lol

Well, how many FPS did it have on consoles? Or better yet, which resolution did it use on consoles? You're right that most two year old middle-class computers wouldn't have a problem with that kind of hair for more than one character, but do not forget about consoles. We PC-gamers don't get anything extra today (=if it's not in the console version, it's not in the PC version either), so you have to take consoles as the leading tech...

The X360 and PS3 versions didn't use TressFX. So you aren't exactly right... The PC version was a pretty good one and looked far superior to the last-gen console's version. Even the enhanced edition released on Xbone and PS4 (which DO use TressFX) didn't really look better than the PC's, besides the different Lara model.
