Her big hangup is primarily Cerberus anyway. She never really makes an issue about aliens beyond ME1.
Is Ashley Williams really a Racist; Yes or No?

No, Ashley is not a racist. I cannot understand why so many people think she is. I feel that her initial concerns about aliens poking around an advanced Alliance warship were valid. She does not agree with Terra Firma and does not like Cerberus because they are too extreme where aliens are concerned. She doesn't completely trust aliens and feels that the council races will always put their own species ahead of humanities interests if push comes to shove.
She is just being cautious, doesn't mean she dislikes aliens solely because they are non-human. Look at the Asari - they hid a prothean beacon from the council races! The Asari are not evil or racist, but they certainly put their own interests ahead of the galactic community - until their backs were against the wall. Ashley is not a diplomat. She says what's on her mind & what you see is what you get with her. She's not everyones cup of tea.
Anyway, she hates politics & doesn't like Udina - she can't be all that bad.

I do not want to seem like a hater to Ashley because sometimes she is alright. But sometimes she does not make much sense to me. In Mass Effect 2 she gave me this attitude and told me how she would never work with aliens. Why did you even come to space? Was you expecting it to be empty of other people or something? I literally was thinking that when she told me. Why did she even decide to become a Specter? For Kaidan it made sense, for her... she had to know that in becoming a Specter she would be working with more aliens. I would like to see if her attitude changes in Mass Effect 3, but I always send her away for the war assets.

My interpretation of ME1 was that there were two opposing arguments "Humans stand alone we can't trust aliens" and "We can trust aliens we have to work together to win this" they made Ashley a symbol of the former and over did it in a big way. ME1 Ashley has her reasons but she's clearly racist ME3 Ashley is just indifferent about them.
I still enjoy killing her though. ![]()

Essentially, it is extremely obvious that she has xenophobic tendencies, and to make it worse she initially has very little social awareness of what she says out loud about the topic.
This changes over the course of ME1, just like it does for Pressley who is WAY more xenophobic than Ashley.
In ME3, she has more or less abandoned all prejudicial inclinations due to the experiences that she had, with the exception of a few contradictory statements that are best interpreted in a political sense.
Her character is actually pretty interesting in that regard. It is reminiscent of the xenophobia that is pervasive throughout the military culture of the modern day. That makes her character more realistic to me.

Interestingly, pursuing the renegade path in ME1 will actually allow shepard to soldify Ashley's beliefs, yet this gets messed up with regards to the sequels, same with pressly, even if Shepard never pushed him to review his stance, the datapad in ME2 still shows that he's had a change of heart, thus nullyfing Shepard's role in the matter.

So, it's settled. Practically all of the hatred against Ashley is unjustifiable.
I can never get myself to kill a girl, and Kaidan is not only a guy, he is a bit of a bore anyway.

Harbinger: "We sentence you.... to talk with catalyst and make sense of what he says. Seriously, we're all respectively the collective consciousness of a species and we can't make any sense of it. But the Dental plan is good, so we stay on."
Ashley's lawyer: "Objection, that is cruel and unusual punishment."
"This hurts you."

She is simply an over-opinionated chick; aren't most women that way? (I mean the over-opinionated part, not the chick part).
